No, of course he has no reason to resign, and as I said Bush would not only be wrong but stupid to accept a resignation. All I suggested is that when the heat is on, cabinet officers have a duty to offer their resignations, pro forma.
If there is a resignation lying around, that would be it. But it's also possible that the NY Times is simply lying. It would hardly be the first time.

Drudge is not an idiot. What kind of money are you making compared to him?
Drudge is just doing his job. He collects from heather and yawn and makes a living. I can respect that.
Drudge, collects, posts (people doing it), gets paid, goes to the kitchen for a sandwich. Ya gotta admire that.
BTW, I think Drudge has a place just south of my condo, the rumors say, in Miami Beach. Matt is a pretty good egg.

Unless he is your new Sec. of State. Ha that would be great. Good old Rummy sitting down with the French.
Seriously, I had heard that Rummy was thinking about getting out after the election and that Zell Miller would take over for him about six to nine months ago. The man is getting up there in years and maybe he has just had enough of the crap. Bush won't push him out but who knows, if he decides he has had enough more power to him as long as he leaves on his terms. Besides, he may be even more valuable as a commentator where he would be even more unfettered. With all that being said I doubt he'll leave like this.

Novak said that! I am still pissed at him for the yellow cake/Joe Wilson wife leak. What a loudmouth he is. I lost all respect for him after that.

"If Rumsfeld goes, Kerry is the next President."
According to Zogby that's who'll be the next President.

Wanna see my condo in Miami Beach? We could try and find Matt Drudge's place. Now, how is that for a new line?

The abuse scandal is over. Done. No one cares. Few ever did. The sad thing is that the GOP did not call the Rats on the carpet for it.
To: Donna Lee Nardo
A man of Rummy's caliber isn't about to resign...no way, no how. His enemies would view it as a tacit admission that he was wrong, that Bush was wrong, that the administration was wrong, that everything was and is wrong.
Rumsfield is one tough cookie, and would never hand the traitors a victory like that. Letting them think the resignation offer is still on the table is a tactic....a good one.....to keep them off balance, tilting at windmills and sucking air.

Rumsfeld is going nowhere. The wagons are circled at the Pentagon and White House. They have seen the polls, which favor Rummy staying. The NY Times is doing Democrat dirty work, by trying to keep this issue alive. The Democrats believe that if they can get Rummy to resign, they can discredit the entire war effort. Bush is not going to let that happen. You can expect a drip, drip, drip of scandalous crap from all the major leftist organizations. They are already offering Reservists money for their stories, true or false, as long as they paint the Bush Administration in a bad light. Many of these Reservists have accepted money and will say whatever is put in front of them.
There is one reason for all this, and one reason only. The Democrats believe that Bush has Osama and the WMD, and this is their counter move.
Is it true?

Now Drudge replaced the original teaser with this:
NYT: RUMSFELD'S FATE REMAINS UNCLEAR AS PRISON ABUSE SCANDAL INTENSIFIES...
To: Donna Lee Nardo
OMG!! I hope this is no where close to being true.

I'll put in my 2-bits before Drudge cares to clarify his rumour.
Rummy might offer his resignation out of being fed up but Bush won't accept. Bush is loyal to a fault but in this case, he has every right to "order" Rummy to stay. It's the crucial point of the war - especially after the Berg atrocity. It's not as if Rummy gave the torture orders or anything like that either. Also, Bush will never jump to Teddy Kennedy's tune or JFK's either. And they would just gloat over a Rummy resignation/firing. They've wanted Rummy out for 4 years, just like Condi and Powell.
My take is that Drudge is picking up the fact the certain Pentagon people want Rummy out, not just the Dems. But he won't be going anywhere soon IMHO.
