Untitled But Evil Pat Leahy Screed!

The United States Senate's goofiest member, Vermont's Patrick Leahy, grandstanded this way in today's Appropriations Committee hearing featuring Donald Rumsfeld:

"Mr. Secretary you have said you're sorry, and the president has said he's sorry. Everybody's said they're sorry about the Iraqi prison scandal. It is actually the first time in this long, protracted and rather strange policy I have heard any administration official express regret about any mistake. So let me tell you a few things I am sorry about.

I am sorry that someone in the administration gave currency to a fraud to quote George Will by putting in the president's state of the union speech that Iraq was trying to buy uranium in Africa.

I am sorry that this administration repeatedly, insistently and unrelentingly justified preemptive war by insisting that Saddam Hussein not only had weapons of mass destruction but was hell-bent on using them against us and our allies.

And I am sorry about administration officials led by the vice-president repeatedly tried to link Saddam Hussein to 9/11 although there never was any link --none-- but they were doing it to build support for the war.

And I am sorry that truth tellers in the administration like General Shinseki and Laurence Lindsay were hounded out of their jobs because they had the temerity to suggest realistic numbers both for our troop level and for what this war is going to cost.

And I am sorry that there is no real plan despite a year-long, five million dollar effort by the State Department to stop the looting that greeted our soldiers following Saddam's fall, that set back reconstruction efforts by months or years, and left the gates open to ammunition, weapons, and other things that are used against our brave soldiers today.

I'm sorry that the president taunted Iraqi resistance fighters to "bring it on" while our troops were still in harms way. I'm sorry that some of our closest allies and friends like Mexico and Canada, even the countries that you dismissively called "old Europe" were alienated because of our strategy of preemptive war, countries whose diplomatic and military help we need desperately today.

And I'm sorry that those who tried to find the truth about allegations of prison abuse in Iraq and in Afghanistan and in Guantanamo, were ignored or brushed off for more than a year until all of a sudden, the press published the lurid photographs, and then we look at it and we've made apologists of the administration."

I, on the other hand, am sorry that nutty, bizarre little Vermont, home to Leahy, Jeffords, Dean and Bernie the socialist, has gone so far off the rails as to allow so venomous and deceitful a man as Leahy to represent it.

I am sorry that either Leahy believes this nonsense --which is alarming given it means either that he refuses to deal with any facts that our contrary to his political advantage, or that he knows he is lying and exaggerating but proceeds anyway because it advances his political interests, despite the war that rages, as evidenced by yesterday's brutal murder of Nick Berg.

I am sorry that Leahy's rambling rant gives another round of propaganda material to the enemies of our country and the would-be killers of our troops.

I am sorry that Leahy thinks we "desperately need" the support of France and Germany.

I am sorry that Leahy stands to chair the Judiciary Committee again if Democrats gain two seats in the fall. His irresponsible, constitution-undermining blockade of fine judicial nominees has now been joined by a vitriolic attack on America's role in the world and the vigorous defense of her people. Leahy's a menace on many levels, and must be kept far from power. Give generously to the candidates that will keep Leahy in the minority. Start with John Thune.

The Democrats deserve to have their grabage stewn across the blogsphere. We must show America how despicable and evil the So-Called Democratic Party has truly become. This is why liberalism must be destroyed!

When I first heard all this nonsense from a guy named Pat Leahy, I wondered why the New York Jets would ever hire a place kicker who was so consistently wide to the left.

Howard Dean, Pat Leahy, Jim Jeffords, that creepy Socialist Nut-Hatch in the House, there must be something very evil in the voting public's drinking water....Can we possibly expel a state from the union? Is that constitutionally legal?

You left out the "good stuff". Rummy carved this guy up on his response. I do not have an exact quote, but Rummy said he was sorry that "They killed thousands of our countrymen on 9/11", followed by a laundry list of Al Qaeda terror attacks. Then two other Republican Senators ripped Leahy a "new one"!

BTW, I HATE dim-o-Rats! Especially this POS, and "King Rat Kennedy"!!! (kerry goes without saying)

Excuse me but I thought there were supposed to be questions posed to the SoD.

Is there a question somewhere in that venom-laced diatribe that I don't see?

I see a question. Why does Pat Leahy ever get permission to leave his padded cell, take off his restraints and address the US Senate? I'm truly sorry this laggard intellect hasn't achieved a body temperature that is as low as his IQ.

I don't why we don't sponsor boats to send people like Leahy and those "embarassed by America's actions" to a country of their choice. I will pitch in to make that happen. They don't have to stay- no one is forcing them.

I don't have a link. I saw the video played on FoxNews tonight, during Brits program. Brit was on vacation.

I don't see it on the FoxNews website.

It was breathtaking.

Actually, Leahy was not so much born into this world so much as he was defecated as the living bowel movement he so truly is. I absolutely despise him, as I do many other evil men in the vile rat party.
