Linda Ronstadt: Impeach Bush 'Right Away'

1970's songbird Linda Ronstadt, best known for her torch song-style and mellow ballads, is working overtime these days trying to persuade her fellow Arizonans that it's time to dump President Bush "right away."

In an interview broadcast on Saturday, Ronstadt was in the middle of explaining to WABC Radio's Mark Simone why she prefers living in Arizona to Los Angeles or New York, when she added one caveat.

"The politics are very conservative here and I'm not conservative. I'm having a hard time sometimes convincing people that we need to vote for a new president," she offered.

When Simone begged to differ, the singer insisted, "We need a different president right away, I think. I think we should impeach this one [rather than wait for] the next election."

Asked if she could support Sen. John Kerry despite his admission that he committed war crimes in Vietnam, Ronstadt told Simone, "I don't know about that? He might be a little more understanding of what these guys [U.S. GIs in Iraq] are going through."

I thought she was more famous for her work with the Stone Ponies, and trying to lay Jerry "moonbeam" brown.

Someone seeking impeachment less than 6 months from the election doesn't sound like someone very confident of an impending John Kerry presidency.

Based on recent photos, the last time she had a hit was about 100 pounds ago.

But if Bush is impeached (highly unlikely in the present circumstances), Dick Cheney becomes President....

Take care what you ask for. Self-inflicted wounds in the foot are doubly painful. So far, Linda is merely sounding foolish.

She doesn't want to wait for the election? She has a short memory. Impeachment doesn't happen quickly. The election would be over before the impeachment even started.

As one great conservative woman has said, Shut up and sing. May I request "Far, Far, Away" for starters.

As a singer she was wonderful. Her politics were always shallow and left wing. In fact her discussions on any subject outside of singning were shallow. In the 80s she was telling people to vote against Reagan and support nuclear freeze.

"I don't know about that? He might be a little more understanding of what these guys [U.S. GIs in Iraq] are going through."

Maybe she would have a little more understanding of what the common person is going through if she hadn't been so well off and successful herself.

A vote for the democratic party is a vote for a socialists who want only two classes of people; those who are well off in a ruling class and the rest in a peasant under class where nobody succeeds on the merit of their hard work. For the upwardly mobile middle class, democratic pandering tax dollars offers no future.

Hey this topic might even make a great song, perhaps she needs to take notes here, cause she does have a good voice !

"You're no good, you're no good, you're no good, baby, you're no goooooooooooood....." - Nowhere Man to Linda Ronstadt.

Hmmmm, I was just a kid in the 1970's (I'll be 38 in July), but I do remember Hugh Heffner did offer Linda Ronstadt $1,000,000.00 to pose naked in Playboy? According to the photo posted, she looks more like Rosie O'Donnell.

At risk of showing my age, I can recall when she sang at the Minus One Coffehouse on Sixth Street in Tucson, AZ. She was the "original Hippy" (Ie. pre 1964) at Tucson's Catalina High School. Her father owned a great harware/farm supply store in downtown Tucson and was an earlyday Mexican/American merchant, selling a lot into Sonora, Mexico. The last Album she had that was good was Canciones de mi Padre -- old Rancheria from Sonora. My take is "Music good, Politics predictable based on career."
