If the intelligence source won't speak for the record, I'm not interested in what they say. They may not even be a real person.

Sourcing a report from another publication which uses unnamed sources? Hey Rooters the Boston Globe has pictures you can use.

Get ready to rally around Rumsfeld. Whatever the Rats do, we need to stand behind Rumsfeld. He's going to be a target until the election and we need to support him with the same vim and vigor that we support the president. No matter what happens between now and then, hold strong and we will ride Rumsfeld's back to Victory!!!!!

No, it was abuse. It was inexcusable. Not because of who they (the prisoners) are, but because of who we are.

It was not torture and it was not interrogation or "softening them up." It was just a stupid, stupid game being played by a few sick individuals.

The "activities" were at least winked at by the Intel guys. I've heard several other prison guard groups said no. I hope the Intel guys will be truthful at the court martials /sarc off

Of course I firmly believe we should be holding to the Geneva Convention rules with AQ as they signed the accords and are following it scrupulously.

I respectfully disagree. it's easy to sit here and make judgements because we are not the ones being shot at. Those heroic soldiers are putting their lives on the line so that we won't see another 9/11. The least we can do is let them take care of the situations as they see fit. If you want to see real torture, then you should watch the video of Nick Berg. Abu Ghraib is nothing compared to that.

Not according to the male perp who talked. According to him, and the pics suggest he's telling the truth, is that it was just that small group having parties. The photos tell the story of a group of people having orgies and using the prisoners as props in their little games. Remember, many of the pics were of the soldiers' orgies and had nothing whatsoever to do with the prisoners.

You apparently didn't read my post.

I specifically said it was NOT torture. It was abuse. I never at any time tried to equate the abu ghraib situation to what happened to Berg.

I support our troops wholeheartedly. That seven or eight of them acted irresponsibly does NOT reflect on our armed services.

Orgies won't prevent another 9/11, which appears to be your position, that we should turn our heads when we find that a few of our soldiers have abused their power by using the prisoners as props in their orgies.

Hogwash! It may be inexcusable but it was not abuse it was humilating and embarrassing and doesn't even come close to torture.

Better get over this "its who we are" stuff if we plan on winning this war on terror, because the other side doesn't give a rats a$$ about the Geneva Convention, Rules of War, or Miss Manners.

It's time to retire Miss Goody Two Shoes and bring out the brass knuckles.

We need to beat these animals back to the stone age.

Maybe we should just kiss their ass, and set them free?
We can't just sit around and ask them for information/details of plans to harm our soldiers and let them sit there and grin at us.
We are letting the Liberals begin to run this war.

Thank you. No need, out of loyalty to Rummy or the President, to downplay counter-productive stupidity when it rears its UGLY head . . .

Would they prefer he had OK'd "conventional" methods such as wood chippers and bamboo under the fingernails? Or would they have wanted us to go straight to step B, hiring ACLU lawyers for the poor prisoners...er..victims?

I didn't say nothing about setting people free. I said that what happened at abu ghraib was nothing compared to what happened to nick berg. If we coddle these people, then we can expect them pull another 9/11. Is thatwhat you want to happen? I say,if they take one of our heads we should take on of theirs. That's how we will win the war on terror and prevent another 9/11.

I have trouble with his story, because you would have to be a grade A number one moron with help from a few other grade A number one morons, all in cahoots...

And then they took pictures...

How do you get that many morons on the same shift?

20 years of big rocks into little rocks for being that stupid.

Seven morons is all it took. Do you really believe that these untrained buffoons were instructed to take part in the interrogation process, and use their own digital cameras? And that they just decided to have sex with each other and take pictures of that while they were at it?

Don't you think that our intelligence people are too professional to allow personal cameras to be anywhere near any part of the interrogation process?

No, this was seven morons (your word) having fun.

Oh, I see. You're equating abuse with torture. I used the word "abuse" to mean something much less than torture.

From what I've seen and heard, there was no torture involved. I do believe it's abusive to treat people the way those prisoners were treated, but it doesn't come anywhere near being torture.

Riiight. We win the war on terror by adopting the methods of terrorists . . . Your method will guarantee another 9/11, not prevent one.
