Valley residents are torn after seeing treatment of Iraqi prisoners.
By Vanessa Colón
The Fresno Bee
Muslims in Fresno say they are torn between cultures after seeing photos of Iraqi prisoners forced to expose their naked bodies or wear women's underwear on their heads.
Throughout the United States, the abuse depicted in the photos provoked feelings of outrage. For Muslims, the images cut a deeper wound
.
"As an American, it's a disgrace. It makes the GIs look bad. A lot of them want to do good...."
So the prisoner abuse was especially hurtful.
"It matches close to being raped," Al-Ali said. "This is the utmost crime
."

Abdul Baker of Fresno, a civil engineer from Iraq and a U.S. resident for more than 20 years, talks in his home about the abuse of Iraqi prisoners and his hopes for Iraq's future.

What did they feel when Saddam was filling up his mass graves and having fun with his rape rooms? Oh wait, that was Muslims only. Having infidels doing anything to Muslims (even terrorists) gets other Muslims all worked up...

Deeper cut?
Think Nick Berg. That is a real atrocity and it wasn't committed by 2 white guys in a white van.
Think Israelis killed by bomb-belts. Those aren't committed by Baptists or Methodists.

Cry me a river. Like having your head sawed off is a lesser crime??? Or having some suicidal maniac blow themselves up and killing innocent people in the name of god is a lessor crime??? Or maybe treating your women like chattel is a lessor crime???
I'm tired of the "religion of peace" peacing all over the rest of us.

What is this guy still doing in Fresno, if he's so concerned about his "hopes for Iraq's future"?

Yeah, yeah, so they're unhappy about the abuse.
Did any one say they were ashamed of what Al Queda did to Pearl or Berg, or the 4 contractors. No chance, never happens, never will.
They are all hippocrites.

Amen!
I got into a argument over the weekend with a neighbor who is Muslim, claims not to be a practicing one though. He started in on asking a few of us at a block party what we thought of these photos floating around. I knew where he was going so I just flat out told him that if that I am sure there was abuse but I was also sure that worse had been done to innocents in our country. Boy, the doo doo hit the fan...he starts in with "Condi Rice is a crook...she knew about all this terror and did nothing"...yadda, yadda, yadda. Man! I told him he better stop right where he was at cause I was not going to listen to a person who is not even a citizen of this country, tear it down and make statements that were full of crap!!!
I could care less what Muslims think!! They have not even stood up for themselves much less the Coalition which is trying to save their sorry hinds!!!

LOL, cuts a deeper wound???? Just like Nick Berg's neck??? The religion of peace seems to be trying to take a lesson from the Scientologists who like to redefine words, like the meaning of "is". Wearing panties on their heads is akin to rape, which in the minds of Muslims must be as bad as being decapitated.

I'd like to point out, they are muslim first and foremost. The fact that they are Americans is coincidental to them. They feel as much bond to Nick Berg as you feel to one of the Iraqi terrorist prisoners.
If the way I'm feeling is common, I don't think the muslims know how close they are to NEEDING to leave this country.

"Do everything possible to make terrorists and their active supporters live in terror themselves. Turn the tide psychologically and practically. While this will not deter hard-core apocalyptic terrorists, it will dissipate their energies as they try to defend themselves and fear will deter many less-committed supporters of terror. Do not be distracted by the baggage of the term assassination. This is a war. The enemy, whether a hijacker or a financier, violates the laws of war by his refusal to wear a uniform and by purposely targeting civilians. He is by definition a war criminal. On our soil, he is either a spy or a saboteur, and not entitled to the protections of the U.S. Constitution. Those who abet terrorists must grow afraid to turn out the lights to go to sleep."

Vanessa,
I think that most of America has grown tired of the "outrage" of muslims for this reason or that reason. It seems that no matter what we do, they will be outraged. We have stood up and apologized. We have ongoing investigations. People will be brought to justice. On the other hand, where are the great public displays of apology for the beheading of an American? Why aren't you writing an article about that? Why aren't you out there demanding muslim nations to apologize for what happened to Nick Berg? Did you ask any of the Iraqi-Americans how they felt when they learned that a muslim beheaded an American? Is this simply acceptable practice in their religion? So let me get this straight. It is unbearable to be naked, but cutting another person's head off is okay. Do any of the people that you interviewed understand that the BIG difference with what happened at Abu Ghraib under Saddam and under Coalition Forces is that under Saddam innocent people were BRUTALLY tortured and under Coalition Forces suspected killers were pictured naked? Another question that you may want to ask them. Which is worse, being tortured by having your clothes removed or being tortured by having your fingernails removed.
Have a nice day.
