Write AGAINST Nancy Pelosi Friday! Please take 30 seconds for this quick "letter to the editor"
FR ^ | 5-21-04

Posted on 05/21/2004 2:21:27 PM PDT by jmstein7

Thanks to all who have written to their Congresscritters denouncing Nancy Pelosi's disgraceful partisan, ad hominem attacks on the President here.

Now, I ask that you take a few moments to help with the "Second Prong" of the strategy -- a letter to the editor.

There is a quick and easy way to do this.

First, open the "Write for W," easy letter-to-the-editor form HERE.

Before you start, be sure to enter your zipcode in the form provided and select "get info" -- the red button.

Check off all the publication names, and then scroll down to write your letter.

Here is some background info (and a sample letter below, as well).  While I *strongly* discourage "seminar letters", if you are short on time, I will forgive you for using the sample :)

Background:

On 5/21, Minority Leader Pelosi said this:

"I believe that the president's leadership and the actions taken in Iraq demonstrate an incompetence in terms of knowledge, judgment, and experience," Pelosi told reporters gathered to hear her remarks.

"This president should have known ... when you decide to go to war you have to know what the consequences of your action are and how you can accomplish the mission," Pelosi said.

The House Democratic leader added, "There was plenty of intelligence to say there would be chaos in Iraq following the fall of Baghdad."

"Bush is an incompetent leader. In fact, he's not a leader. He's a person who has no judgment, no experience and no knowledge of the subjects that he has to decide upon."

"Not to get personal about it, but the president's capacity to lead has never been there," Pelosi said.

"In order to lead, you have to have judgment. In order to have judgment, you have to have knowledge and experience. He has none," she added.

This is an outrage.  Ms. Pelosi's comments are not a criticism of policy, but they are a direct, ad hominem (personal) attack on the President for mere political gain in a time of war -- and reckless ones at that, for they give our enemies aid and comfort.

The Republicans were quick (for once) to respond:

Bush-Cheney '04 Campaign Chairman Marc Racicot addressed John Kerry, saying, "As leader of the Democratic Party, John Kerry needs to repudiate Nancy Pelosi's efforts to blame American deaths in Iraq on the President. No one is to blame for these deaths in Iraq but the terrorists who are trying to prevent freedom from coming to the Middle East."

Republican National Committee Chairman Ed Gillespie said, "To angry Democrats like Nancy Pelosi and Ted Kennedy, terrorists and militia aren't responsible for the deaths of U.S. soldiers, their commander-in-chief is. And our servicemen and women, in putting torture chambers 'under U.S. management,' are no different than a regime that systematically tortured, raped and killed its own people."

"The San Francisco/Boston Democrats led by John Kerry have now adopted Blame America First as their official policy," Gillespie continued in a statement issued to the press.

Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert (R-IL) said, "Mrs. Pelosi has the right to disagree with President Bush, and it is clear that she has a different vision from the President. But her comments questioning the President's competence cross the line."

"We are in the middle of a war and in the middle of a political campaign. Mrs. Pelosi's comments were meant to inspire her political base. But who else do they inspire? That is the question she should ask herself," Hastert continued.

"Her comments are also wrong," Hastert said.

Further, Hastert said, "Was it incompetence that put Saddam Hussein in jail? Was it incompetence that disbanded the Taliban? Was it incompetence that spurred the fastest economic growth rate in twenty years? Was it incompetence that created the highest home ownership rate in history?"

"Nancy Pelosi should apologize for her irresponsible, dangerous rhetoric," House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX) told CNN. "She apparently is so caught up in partisan hatred for President Bush that her words are putting American lives at risk."

Sample:

To The Editor:

I am writing to express my disgust with Democrat Nancy Pelosi's partisan attack on the President.  The House must censure her for her outrageous attack, and the Democrats must do the right thing and strip her of her leadership post.

While it is perfectly permissible to substantively disagree with the President's policy, irresponsible, dangerous rhetoric fueled by pure partisan hatred is unacceptable and not becoming of a member of the House Leadership.  Ms. Pelosi has crossed the line with her baseless, acerbic attack.

Saying that the President is "an incompetent leader. . . a person who has no judgment, no experience and no knowledge of the subjects that he has to decide upon," is not a critique of policy; it is a vicious, partisan screed that adds nothing to constructive debate.  It is merely irresponsible and dangerous in a time of war and inspires the enemies of America.  Further, it is abhorrent to "blame America first" for the acts of terrorists.

For these reasons, Representative Pelosi must be censured and stripped of her leadership position.

Sincerely,

Here is another action you can take:

Write an Op-Ed on the subject

Send your Op-Ed to any papers you want, but I suggest these three:

The New York Post: letters@nypost.com

The Wall Street Journal: edit.features@wsj.com

The Washington Times: letters@washingtontimes.com

The more Op-Eds we get people to send, the better the chance of getting the message out.  So, go for it!!!

This morning on WBT talk radio in Charlotte, NC, Terry McAuliffe was being interviewed. He was asked about Nancy Pelosi's remarks of Bush being incompetent, and wasn't that a bit extreme?... He said No, I totally agree with her that Bush is incompetent and I stand behind her.

Pelosi can say what she wants, it's a free country. But, I have a right to call her the traitorous, terrorist appeasing, phony, POS that she is. Thank you, I feel better.

It's so embarassing to tell people you're from California these days. Nancy Pelosi just raised the bar with her outrageous remarks about President Bush. Here are some quotes from our dear Minority Leader:

This person exists on our tax dollars. We pay her, and others like her, to undermine our country.

The real danger to our troops lies with politicians like Nancy Pelosi and Ted Kennedy. They both should be censored. Heck, they should be deported for spreading sedition. Of course it isn't going to happen. The media is just as guilty as those two are in hampering our efforts to combat terrorism, and provide a way for decent human beings to have a better life.

For what it's worth, if anyone agrees with me, call for an offical censure of these two individuals. We have found WMD. What will it take to convince our leftist lapdog politicians? We could find a nuke big enough to blow up Canada, and they'd still be chanting, "no blood for oil". Please, shut up hippie because the grownups are finally in charge.

These people disgust me. On a final note, Teddy, your car has killed more people than the chuckleheaded MP's at Abu Ghairab...

Exposed: Pelosi's Socialist Ties

Pelosi leader of 'Progressive Caucus'

From those links, these excerpts ...

"DSA/USA, the 'Democratic Socialists of America' are the U.S. arm of the Socialist International. They share the symbol of the fist holding the rose, and they share the tasks to be accomplished — in our case, an altogether different America ...

"Some time ago — the date is missing from the descriptions — 58 members of the U.S. House of Representatives formed a subdivision of the Democratic Socialists of America and called it the Progressive Caucus. Their statement of purpose, as well as their membership list, formed an integral part of the dsausa Web site (www.dsausa.org ). The membership list appeared on the screen with the continuous background of the fist holding the rose, should anyone have missed the connection with the Socialist International."

Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., the likely [she is now] new minority leader in the House of Representatives, serves on the executive committee of the socialist-leaning Progressive Caucus, a bloc of about 60 votes or nearly 30 percent of the minority vote in the lower chamber.

The Democratic Socialists of America's chief organizing goal is to work within the Democratic Party and remove the stigma attached to "socialism" in the eyes of most Americans.

"Stress our Democratic Party strategy and electoral work," explains an organizing document of the DSA. "The Democratic Party is something the public understands, and association with it takes the edge off. Stressing our Democratic Party work will establish some distance from the radical subculture and help integrate you to the milieu of the young liberals."

How quaint that the Socialist Internationale's logo features a fist holding a rose. To be historically accurate, the fist should be featured holding the keys to a gulag while drenched in blood.

It's scary to find out that after all these years of calling them commies, they really are commies!

Can the woman even blink her eyes anymore?

GET PELOSI OUT OF OFFICE - VOTE JEN DEPALMA FOR CONGRESS

This Republican woman is taking on Pelosi for her seat in San Francisco. She really needs our Freeper help. Please get the word out. She needs to be issuing responses to Pelosi's anti-American statements in the press, interviewed on news channels, etc. She needs our contributions since probably the GOP abandoned her because they view this election as no-contest in SF. However, she can be our mouthpiece against Pelosi in the campaign. Please help!
