Well I would go for it but it would never fly. We need someone tough and understand bureaucracies. That is why I like Guliani. That will probably not happen either. But I always liked Newt - a smart, articulate man whose heart is in the right place. He is not a warrior though and that is what we need.

I suppose I'll knock it off for now, but if Ari Fleischer's book turns out to be a behind-the-scenes tell all and casts further doubt on this administration, I'm outta here. (after changing my name to something that has more of a French flair and pulling out the white scarf from my accessories drawer)

Thanks for the effort, PD. You're a sweetheart even though you try your best to disguise it.

I don't think so. Ari appeared in a White House video with Barney months after he left. I also heard him say he was going to be doing some work for the campaign.

A perfect book tour would be Ari going around telling NICE things about the President. It would be refreshing, for sure.

...you have to figure that the State Department is also full of backstabbers, the media makes stuff up, and there are embedded Clintonistas in some parts of the Pentagon.

I have been preaching about the backstabbers in the Department of Justice and the State Department since Day 1 of W's administration but didn't even think about the Pentagon. Many of the civilians and a few of the general rank promotions during x42's tenure are definately causing problems and should have been dismissed or reassigned long ago. Thanks for opening my eyes on DOD'ers.

We'll have to get together soon, Miss Marple. I'm surrounded by negative friends and siblings, come to FR for respite and a positive infusion and then I get blasted by disappointing news about the Bush administration. Maybe all I need is a beer. I think I'll imbibe when I go out tonight. :o)

This article leads in a slightly different direction:

Source Says Chalabi Security Chief Sought ( May have been target of raid on Chalabi's house )

I find gin is quite effective. :-)

I have a rabid democrat sister, a union brother, and two art school majors in my family. I refuse to let them get me thinking negative.

Also, it seems on the weekend we get a lot more negative articles posted. Why, I haven't figured out.

Yes, we should do lunch and trade stories. I have a LOT to tell. LOL!

It is certainly true that liberal minions at state and to a lesser extent the CIA have been trying to sabotage this war from the beginning

Well it doesn't help the pro-war cause by promoting intel from Chalabi for one of the reasons to go to war. And now the administration's "we wuz robbed!" stance on him is just ridiculous.

I don't know what to think. That whole part of the world is so full of liars and double-dealers that it gives me a headache.

I spent some time in the Middle East. Payoffs, corruption, lying--it's SOP for that part of the world.

Here in the West we do business on a 'win-win' basis--the seller has something of value that the buyer needs. If the buyer thinks the price is right, he purchases it and everyone wins.

In the ME, it was my observation that business was conducted on a 'win-lose' basis. How could everyone win? You had to have a loser if you had a winner. Hence, all business transactions were adverserial. The ancient art of 'haggling' was in full force. Everyone was constantly trying to screw everyone else.

You need to have more faith. All this stuff coming out now is not good for Democrats, who were hoping to save most of it for October. Why do we keep going through this? You can bet that one month from today, we will be back in good spirits, confident again that Bush will win. These things go in cycles. November is all that matters. The Democrats have no idea what is about to hit them.

I am sure that things will clear up soon.

I can't see the big picture? Yes I can. I see the United Nations is a cesspool of corruption and double dealing. A five-year-old can see that. They sit in a tall building in our country and bad-mouth the United States and compliment Sudan and other barbaric regimes and call for tolerance of Arafat, the acknowledged father of slaughtering innocents with human suicide bombs.

If we were serious about elementing terror, we'd give every foreign employee of the UN 48 hours to get out of the United States and order them immediately arrested as spies if they didn't meet the deadline.

Every country in the Middle East, save Israel, is a double-dealing bunch of liars who would take us down in a heartbeat if they could.

I see that and a lot more. I see these UN criminals routinely breaking U.S. laws and the laws of every nation on earth. All of this is to further the fattening of their own larcenous, self-serving pocketbooks.

The CIA missed seeing the fall of the Soviet Union on its radar. That was one of the greatest intelligence failures of world history by the world's best-funded spy bureaucracy.

You wanna see something really funny? Take a look at the preposterous animation created by the CIA to explain the crash of TWA 800. It defies the laws of physics. Who the hell are they kidding?

The problem isn't we little people don't see the big picture. The problem is we see the big, ugly son of a bitch TOO WELL.

I'll agree with you about the UN, however

The CIA missed seeing the fall of the Soviet Union on its radar. That was one of the greatest intelligence failures of world history by the world's best-funded spy bureaucracy.

I must disagree with you here. The CIA knew very well the conditions inside the USSR. That was the main reason we concentrated on driving their economy to ruin with an arms race they could not win. This statement;

Take a look at the preposterous animation created by the CIA to explain the crash of TWA 800. It defies the laws of physics. Who the hell are they kidding?

is way over the top. If you truly think that the US Navy shot down TWA 800 then I don't think anything I say can change your mind. Accidents do happen and this was one of them.

Strange that the conservative press is still sticking up for this guy (WSJ, NY Post)

Unfortunately the conservative press has a soft spot for bank frauds. Maybe they are too hard to distinguish from our other Captains of finance, so these rags just give up trying.

That was when the Bush administration decided to break all ties with Chalabi, sources said.

Sounds like the Bush Administration didn't mess around!
