More On Nancy Pelosi's Socialist Ties

Sarasota Herald-Tribune (Florida) March 13, 1999

What to call left-wing politicians

I find it interesting that the mass media uses such terms as Christian radical right, radical right, far right, conspiratorial right, etc. When the left is mentioned, such terms as liberal, progressive, etc., are used.

As an independent but conservative, I have found some information that I consider interesting. I wonder how many people are familiar with the Democratic Socialists of America, which is affiliated with Socialist International of London. At least 58 Democrats in the House of Representatives - about one-fourth of the Democrats - belong to this organization. Such stalwarts as John Conyers, Maxine Waters, Barney Frank, Robert Scott, Jerrold Nadler, Henry Waxman, John Lewis, David Bonior, Charles Rangel, George Miller, Nancy Pelosi, Pete Stark, James McDermott, etc., are members.

I wonder if the DSA's philosophy is at odds with our Constitution? You can make up your own mind if you go to this Web site: www.dsausa.org/html

Would this label be appropriate for this group: "Secular Humanist Radical Socialist Left"?

Paul Jorgensen

The San Francisco Chronicle NOVEMBER 9, 2002

Editor -- I am really hoping that Nancy Pelosi will end up being the new House minority leader. She and her somewhere-between-socialist-and-communist viewpoint is the stark contrast needed to further separate the left from mainstream America, resulting in more conservative wins.

BRUCE BAGLEY

Santa Rosa

The Washington Times November 12, 2002

A few days ago the New York Times reported in the lead position, above the fold, that Nancy Pelosi, California

Democrat, had the votes to become the next minority leader in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Much is discussed about the congresswoman, but without a single mention of her executive position in the Progressive Caucus, and the latter's ties to the Socialist International.

Question: If an international organization existed to carry the torch for Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini, and if a person running for minority leader had past or present ties to such an organization, what are the chances the New York Times would find it irrelevant to the matter at hand?

None. Zero. Nada.

Double standards: Do you remember the Austrian nationalist Joerg Haider? He had no such affiliation. Yet the mere possibility that he might harbor sympathies for National Socialist ideas sufficed to make him, and the country in which he holds office, an international pariah.

The Socialist International carries the torch for Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, V.I. Lenin, Leon Trotsky, and Josef Stalin. Pay no attention to the desperate attempts by socialists to distance themselves from Stalin. For our purposes, it suffices to observe that every single tenet of the Socialist International is the exact opposite of the principles upon which America was founded, and which define the U.S. Constitution.

For our purposes, it suffices also to observe that members of the U.S. Congress are required to furnish an oath whereby they will preserve, protect, and defend said Constitution.

DSA/USA, the "Democratic Socialists of America" are the U.S. arm of the Socialist International. They share the symbol of the fist holding the rose, and they share the tasks to be accomplished - in our case, an altogether different America.

Some time ago - the date is missing from the descriptions - 58 members of the U.S. House of Representatives formed a subdivision of the Democratic Socialists of America and called it the Progressive Caucus. Their statement of purpose, as well as their membership list, formed an integral part of the dsausa Web site [www.dsausa.org]. The membership list appeared on the screen with the continuous background of the fist holding the rose, should anyone have missed the connection with the Socialist International.

Following the exposure in this newspaper of the Progressive Caucus [Nov. 10-11, 1998], action was taken to hide the true nature of the organization, and its membership list was eventually taken off the dsausa Web site. In fact, the only listing to be found right now is a web site maintained by Rep. Bernie Sanders, Vermont Independent, the only member professing to be a socialist. But interested parties can type "Progressive Caucus" in a search engine, such as Google, and find the dsausa link right up front. The link brings up a screen saying "the page cannot be displayed," but the listing confirms its prior existence.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi has long been, and is now, a member of the executive committee of the Progressive Caucus. Her election as minority leader would firmly establish the link between the Democratic Caucus of the U.S. House of Representatives and the Socialist International.

The U.S. Constitution places no restrictions on political creeds. There is no earthly reason why socialists could not be elected to Congress if the people so choose. There is a question of honesty, though. Candidates for office ought to put their cards on the table.

The Democratic Party has been the permanent or temporary home for an awesome line-up of great Americans, from Thomas Jefferson to Ronald Reagan. The political philosophy known as Socialism was devised to combat and prevail over Anglo-American principles, law, economics. Every version of socialism, from Nazism and Bolshevism to the mildest form of Social Democracy is fundamentally opposed to Anglo-American attitudes.

If the moment has come when the Democratic Party sees no other way "to be different" except by embracing socialism, that is a sad day for all Americans.

National Journal's House Race Hotline November 15, 2002

From Her Hometown Paper -- Thanks A Latte San Francisco Chronicle's Sandalow reports, "A good portion of the ruling pundocracy seem to be having a grand time questioning -- if not outright ridiculing -- the party's judgment for turning to a San Franciscan." While Speaker Denny Hastert and outgoing Min. Leader Dick Gephardt "hail from the heartland, Pelosi's left coast home evokes stereotypes too powerful for political image-makers to ignore." While Pelosi "is still relatively unknown to most Americans, journalists, opinion-makers, supporters and detractors are rushing to define a woman who is quickly becoming one of Washington's most recognizable faces." The conservative National Review "screams": "Latte liberal." Some stories "chronicle Pelosi's disarming smile, her legislative acumen and her political pragmatism." However, "to read many accounts, it almost sounds as if the Democrats are naming a member of the Socialist Party as their leader" -- exactly what a Washington Times columnist suggested on 11/12. Pelosi's "essence is frequently reduced to three words: 'San Francisco liberal'" -- a description "that is irrefutable based on Pelosi's home address and voting record." It is "in many ways the mirror image of the argument" Dems have made "for years" about Maj. Whip Tom DeLay, who on 11/13 is expected to win election as the House Majority Leader (11/13). Pelosi "has attracted international attention mostly for the new look she brings" to the Dem Party. Pelosi "is the first woman to lead either party on Capitol Hill, and her ascent is widely interpreted as evidence that Democrats wish to more aggressively challenge" Pres. Bush and cong. GOPers "on matters ranging from war to taxes." In political circles, Pelosi's "ability to win elections is generating the most excitement" (San Francisco Chronicle, 11/14). Washington Post's Von Drehle and Rosin: "There are two Nancy Pelosis ... One is the liberal Democrat from San Francisco. ... The other is the canny political tactician. ... Which one will dominate as House minority leader?" (11/14).

Tampa Tribune (Florida) November 17, 2002

Pelosi's Affiliation

Your articles have failed to state that Nancy Pelosi is a member of the Progressive Caucus of the Democratic Socialists of America. Why has this fact been omitted?

"Communism is dead" - don't you believe it. Pelosi is one of more than 50 congressional members of the Progressive Caucus. Perhaps your favorite Democrat is a member.
JIM SEILER

Press Journal (Vero Beach, FL) November 20, 2002

Columnist Dan Thomasson presented an informative profile on Nancy Pelosi ("Gambling on Pelosi" in Friday's Press Journal) in her campaign to secure the leadership in the House. He did not mention, however, that she represents the most extreme arm of the Democratic Party; this part of the party is the remnant of the old socialist and communist groups that decided, unlike their purist ancestral leaders, to try to achieve their goals by remaining under the Democratic Party blanket.

The New Republic March 24, 2003

When San Francisco Democrat Nancy Pelosi took over as House minority leader following last November's election debacle, this magazine worried that, despite her efforts to remake herself as a moderate--referring to herself, for example, as "an Italian-American grandmother"--she would ultimately revert to her liberal roots, likely taking the House Democratic caucus with her (see Michael Crowley, "Follow the Leader," November 25, 2002). And, last week, she began doing exactly that. Speaking at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York, Pelosi complained that, though George W. Bush's invasion of Iraq "is too far down the road, and I don't think he's turning back," things could have been different if Democrats had followed an alternative game plan last fall. "If the Democrats had spoken out more clearly in a unified vote five months ago in opposition to the resolution, if the people had gone onto the streets five months ago in these numbers in our country and throughout the world, I think we might have been in a different place today," Pelosi said. Really? At the time, polls showed that voters trusted Republicans over Democrats on national security by as much as a three-to-one margin; they generally approved of the way Bush was handling foreign policy by a two-to-one margin. While it is doubtless true that the Democrats' wishywashiness on Iraq cost them votes, full-throated opposition would almost certainly have been far worse. Just ask Senator Max Cleland, a triple-amputee war veteran who, despite his support for the congressional resolution authorizing force against Iraq, was nonetheless beaten by an opponent who painted him as soft on security. Indeed, Democratic campaign officials have noted that their candidates' poll numbers began to plummet in competitive districts last year once the party came to be defined as opposing the president on Iraq. As for attaching the Democrats more closely to the people going into "the streets," it is worth noting that one of the primary organizers of the recent antiwar movement has been International answer (Act Now to Stop War and End Racism), a group associated with the socialist Workers World Party and far enough to the left that it banned Michael Lerner, the ultraliberal editor of Tikkun, from speaking at one of the protests. Not exactly the organization you most want swing voters to associate with the Democratic Party on Election Day. Minority Leader Pelosi's newfound centrism, it seems, is still a work in progress.
Orlando Sentinel Tribune, November 12, 2002

I would like to thank God for Nancy Pelosi being picked as leader for House Democrats. For perhaps she'll wake up the "yellow-dog Democrats" as to how far left their party has gone. When Rep. Pelosi and her peers talk of common ground, that ground is socialism -- close to communism. One only need to look at the history of her area of California to see that.

Scary stuff, folks, imho ...

Exposed: Pelosi's Socialist Ties

Pelosi leader of 'Progressive Caucus'

From those links, these excerpts ...

"DSA/USA, the 'Democratic Socialists of America' are the U.S. arm of the Socialist International. They share the symbol of the fist holding the rose, and they share the tasks to be accomplished — in our case, an altogether different America ...

"Some time ago — the date is missing from the descriptions — 58 members of the U.S. House of Representatives formed a subdivision of the Democratic Socialists of America and called it the Progressive Caucus. Their statement of purpose, as well as their membership list, formed an integral part of the dsausa Web site (www.dsausa.org ). The membership list appeared on the screen with the continuous background of the fist holding the rose, should anyone have missed the connection with the Socialist International."

Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., the likely [she is now] new minority leader in the House of Representatives, serves on the executive committee of the socialist-leaning Progressive Caucus, a bloc of about 60 votes or nearly 30 percent of the minority vote in the lower chamber.

The Democratic Socialists of America's chief organizing goal is to work within the Democratic Party and remove the stigma attached to "socialism" in the eyes of most Americans.

"Stress our Democratic Party strategy and electoral work," explains an organizing document of the DSA. "The Democratic Party is something the public understands, and association with it takes the edge off. Stressing our Democratic Party work will establish some distance from the radical subculture and help integrate you to the milieu of the young liberals."

Yeah! What is it with those eyes. Even reptiles have this thin little membrane that flicks across their eyes occasionally. There is something really spooky about ol' Nancy.

Goof Saturday afternoon...off topic question, if I may. Just realized that I've read practically NOTHING about Kerry's immediate family. It's curious..WE know that his grandparents converted from Judaism...and his dad ws in the USAAF in WW II, but, are his parents alive? what did they do, and he has two or three siblings, right..they're more anonymous than his VP choices.. We read all about Clinton's brother, Carter's brother, Bush's brother, hell, Nixon's brother..during the campaigns..but Kerry's siblings..Nada, zilch...curous, eh?

She must have had that operation to cut some skin off your eyelids because they were obscuring your vision. I myself had to have that done but they left enough so I could shut them. Maybe that is why she is so grouchy. Must be hard not to be able to even close your eyes to go to sleep. Now, don't you feel sorry for her?

I posted this on a previous thread about Nancy Pelosi. I will post it again below.

Clearly, one can not be incompetent and clear all the hurdles that it takes to become President of the United States or a USAF fighter pilot. I apply this same logic to becoming a US Senator. Therefore, I do not believe that Senator Nancy Pelosi is incompetent. However, her comments as to the President's incompetence lead me to believe that she is a narrow malignant liberal. These malignant liberals are all very narrow minded, blatantly prejudiced, and view anyone with different opinions as stupid, incompetent and in need of psychological readjustment.

It is no wonder that they are so sympathetic to radical Islam. The world war that we are now in has no national boundaries. One American's friend can be another American's terrorist butcher. One American dies in combat while another American cheers for those who killed him. One American gets hit with chemical weapons while another American denies the weapons exist. One American prisoner gets his head cut off while other Americans scream of our humiliation of enemy prisoners. We have been under internal attack since the days of the McCarthy hearings and since the Vietnam War. During the last 30 years, we have been attacked, bombed and murdered all over the world. Three deadly attacks have occurred in the heart of America. Numerous airplanes have been blown from the sky. A President commits treason, rape and is potentially involved in a White House murder, while Americans are more focused on another President's fighter pilot training. Clearly, we are in a world war with our national identity and personal liberty in serious risk, but many Americans seems to be more affixed on the defense of homosexual marriage. President Bush and Nancy Pelosi are not incompetent, but they are on opposite sides in this world war. It is time for America to wake up and understand the true demons in their midst.
