Germany Probes Kosovo Torture Claims

"PA"

Germany’s defence ministry is investigating reports that photographs of its troops taking part in torture in Kosovo are making the rounds among soldiers.

“In KFOR circles photos are circulating that allegedly show German soldiers in Kosovo in torture scenes,” the Bild newspaper is reporting tomorrow, referring to the international peace force in Kosovo.

Bild did not say it had the photos and gave no further details.

The Defence Ministry knows of no photos but is looking into the allegation, spokesman Norbert Bicher said.

“We are treating this outrageous allegation with the necessary seriousness,” he said.

Germany has been a part of the Nato-led KFOR mission in Kosovo since 1999.

In recent days, both Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder and Defence Minister Peter Struck have said they could not imagine German troops abusing prisoners as US soldiers did in Iraq.

“The young people in the German army ... are so well brought up that I can’t conceive of any case that they would participate in such incidents,” Schroeder said on Monday

The Germans may be nasty, but at least we can be certain that they kept meticulous records of their nastiness.

Indeed. For instance, the Germans would never gas someone to death and use their skin for a lampshade.

Seriously, no matter how true these allegations are, they will get no play, because Kosovo was a Clinton war and Germany is part of the axis of weasels. The leftist press is terribly predictable.

Oh no! Some other country's people do the dastardly deed too? It should be front page on the New York Times for at least two weeks, right? NOT!

This will be useful when I see my English cousin next week. He is a teacher's-union Trotskyite. Always has an earful for me about how awful things are over here, and how enlightened and perfect they are in Europe.

You know it seems to me that the FIRST people to take pictures [video] of torture were the islamofascists. People must have a very short memory. Nobody seemed to mind these islamic animals doing people in on tape.

Only with underpants and still pictures did the leftists speak out about the "horror."

Absolute treason.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Of course this report has been respectively is widely discussed in Germany, and I´m relieved to tell you that the German Defense Minister has criticized th BILD paper for this ridiculous report.

These "pictures" have not been sent to the Defense Ministry or to senior officers, and even the BILD acknowledges that it hasn´t seen them yet. Therefore, the Minister concludes, there´s no evidence that these "pictures" exist. He rather believes that someone tried to fool the BILD - Europeans most read daily newspaper.

I would be thankful if you stopped to claim things you cannot prove / to believe in unproven announcements.

I meant the fact that Das Bild is Europe's most widely read daily. That's got to hurt.

LOL, well, it´s because we have no real Euro-wide newspaper, and BILD is the most-read newspaper in Germany (and with more than 12 million readers per day also the most-read paper in whole Europe).
