I don't think there are many circumstances under which Gorelick could survive the confirmation process for AG at this point. It would require not only a Bush loss, but a complete disinigration of the Senate GOP at the same time.
Worth keeping an eye on, but from what I've seen, her performance on the 9/11 commission has damned her for life. The obvious conflicts of interests highlighted by the "wall building memo" will never go away.

"consider the Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI) scandal"
This did not touch too many people in the US, but I was in Singapore when the bank collapsed, and I remember one group of people who got burned very badly.
I was haggling with one of the Indian money changers, trying to get an extra one and a half percent on the exchange rate for my American Express traveller's checks. I was bargaining pretty hard, but he was not yielding. Finally, he picked up a stack of travellers checks about half an inch thick, and riffled through them. In the upper left corner was the "BCCI" logo. "See these?" he asked. "They're just pieces of paper now. We have thousands more back at the office." I didn't argue any further.
The nature of the money changing business is you make a few cents on every dollar that passes over the counter. Unfortunately for them, they were handing out real dollars and taking in empty promises.

Thank you. Jamie would be an even bigger disaster than Janet Reno as AG, and the mind boggles at the thought of her heading the CIA. I hope first there is no Dem administration to support her; and second, that down the road, the GOP can muster enough spine to keep her from being appointed to any key positions. Gorelick would be especially attractive to a Hillary administration.
