Our proper role is to carry out those activities which increase the security and prosperity of our nation. It can take many forms.
The United States of America has now become the military, cultural and economic leader of the world therefore our proper role is to maintain that leadership and effect the policies necessary to maintain that leadership.
"It would be nice if we could close our borders and safely isolate ourselves from the rest of the world. But World War I brought us out of that. Today, we cannot be isolated; otherwise, we'd be speaking German or Russian or (if the WoT isn't successful) Arabic. We have to stay strong for ourselves and for those, like the French, who are too blind to see their own future predicaments."

Of the other 30%, I don't believe they are in the middle. I actually think they are sort of removed.
At the end of the day, if any of that 30% votes, they will vote for one of two things: fear or dollars.
The economy is coming back, and signs of it are everywhere, with the exception of gas prices.
The other issue is fear. If people fear for their security, they'll vote R.
Link's not working. I guess Biden got them to spike the story.
Brokaw booed? Do you know where? I did a search and couldn't find it.

A second reading shows no outright booing. The crowd reaction fell just short of it. Not sure if there's another version somewhere.
