Pings :)
Man, I have mixed feelings about this article. It's almost a flaunt of the Bushes wealth if you get my drift. For a second, I thought I was reading a parody out of The Onion.
"It took us five hours to get to the concert area, and then we had to walk for an hour because there was no parking. We stayed up all night. Pierce slept in the back of a pickup truck." I listened but I didn't care. Is that selfish? All I could think about was recommending a good psychiatrist to all of them. Who, if totally sane, would drive all day, walk for hours, listen to a rock concert--in the rain yet--then spend the rest of the night camped in the bed of a pickup truck? Give me a break.
Yup.
What a great article. For once, nothing to flame over!
My only wish for H.W. (and the other presidents)is that they avoid the Reagan fate, God bless him... and them.
An honorable man. That part of the electorate that put that dope-smoking, womanizing draft-dodger in office instead of him should be ashamed.
Sending this to my 83-year-old father-in-law. Thanks.
Nice post, Darlin'. I wish he had shown that down-to-earth side of himself in 1992. We might have avoided what came after.
all good!
This is like the funniest thing I've read in like a while.:)
WOW............
I can't be 41 forever, but I can be for another 5 months.
This is just wonderful. I'd love to send it to my aging relatives but they're all liberals, they'd see it as political and send it back! Their loss. He has quite a witty way with words and such a nice perspective on things. Hope to be that together and happy at 80! God Bless GHWB! And Barbara! And their great sons and family, too.
The bottom line is that getting old stinks whether you are George Bush or not! Glad to see he has kept a positive attitude.
Thank you for posting that.
He's a total class act. When I was posted at the US Embassy in Tokyo a few years ago, Bush was in town on some private business. He took the time to come to the Embassy and speak to the employees and their families in a "town meeting." Then he shook hands and had photographs taken with each person. His aides were urging him to hurry up because he had an appointment. He didn't do that; he stayed until everyone got a chance to have a photo taken with him, and gave no indication that he was in a hurry.
He's not even in charge anymore and he is still trying to help us. Great article and a very good man indeed. But, I worry because many of those symptoms and issues he describes, I am feeling at 55.......
One of my best friends and neighbors, is in his 80's. His body is trash, but he still has the mind of a dreamer.....a youthful dreamer. I don't think I will make it to 70, let alone 80, but if I do, I pray that I will still be a youthful dreamer........
"They use the word "like" all the time. My beloved teenagers can't say a sentence without saying "like."
The sprouts around me have a similar problem! AND they, like, also like to say "go". Example: "Like, I go, 'Well, what did you expect', and he goes, 'Well, like, how was I supposed to, like, know?'
"So then, like he goes..."
You get, like the drift!
To President Bush's list, I would add something from a feminine point of view:
1. I seem to remember that my skin used to fit, but now...
LOL!! Old age is not for the faint of heart!
And once in awhile I can still get my licks in
Calling Dana Carvey! This has to be deliberate self-parody!
