And when it's used up I dye it black and use it as a toupee. And sell such toupees on eBay. Big items with the Mexican market as hair replacements. I'm an entrepreneur.

Now that is a great idea! LOL

It is High crimes to sell out one's country for a few or few bags of coins -- Ikes or real silver. Call it Treason.

Or "Free Trade".

Holding officials to their duty is NOT "blaming" -- it is called accountability. Missing at Enron and amoung the 537.

That's funny I have read the treason law several times and that wasn't in there. Is it a penumbra of the law?

No, I dont blame ENRON, but the telecom collapse was the end of two jobs

the fall of the Berlin Wall was the end of one job

having a sleep disorder and being unable to work 3rd shift was 2 jobs! (I am not totally innocent in this, I did make a couple mistakes!) Rush Limbaugh's jokes about restless leg syndrome are not funny! I had that and something similar to apnea, I could NOT functionon 3rd shift, but didnt know it, I just thought I was making mistakes!

I wonder what the unemployment rate has to get down to before some of these folks stop blaming someone else for their plight?

Just one less as far as I am concerned! ...(sigh)...

Race I don't want to make you feel bad. I have been where you are at so I know how damned scary it can be. Given your situation I have to agree with others that you may have to look south for work.

FWIW, I didn't say you were a liberal, just that one small facet of one of your post reminded me of an attitude a liberal might have.

At least your liberal friends will get a chuckle. (If you tell them)...

Or, "gasp", move to a district where the jobs are

You'll still need a clearance.

And as for the other jobs, most other countries don't allow immigration (like Japan and China), unless you can prove lineage from their citizenry.

Unlike the U.S.

I am a degreed engineer, and the only job I was offered so far since the last layoff 3 weeks ago is the deli for 25 hours a week at $8.25 I might as well go bankrupt, but even still, I wont have enough money to pay rent!

I've had to take a jobs making around $8/hr during hard times and didn't run around crying to everybody about how unfair life was to me. I scarificed where I had to and thanked God I had a job at all. And things got better.

Check this one, $11 an hour?? http://www.agentry.com/JobDetail.asp?Job_Number=11045

$11/hr to start for a simple assembly job? That's pretty good. I've seen many assembly jobs starting out around $7 or $8. Someone fresh off the banana boat can do assembly.

I've seen it too many times now not to suggest that I don't think the word "mantra" means what you think it means. (anybody see The Pricess' Bride? Inconceivable!)

Great news for America = Bad news for the Dem's, so of course it will NOT be reported on the front page, or probably not even in the main section of the papers, probably buried somewhere in the middle of the business section

Not around here.

What most people here forget, when the average wage is HIGH, so is the price of living, th rents, the car prices, the gas, food

Well, wages have dropped, but NOTHING ELSE has dropped!

What $11 an hour got me in 1986 the last time I made it 18 YEARS AGO will not even get me close to the standard of living I grew into! And I am not even a homeowner! I rent becaue I havent got the money to buy a house!

Some of you people must have never tried to recover after a series of layoffs, and I have been in this for years.

And so have many of us up here, but we stayed because it was the CONSERVATIVE thing to do: To constantly retrain! To stick it out! To not run like women when problems occur!

Yet all of you just throw out mantras like
MOVE
START A BUSINESS (that one is so insulting, I have no money for rent yet I am supposed to start a business??)

When I made $8 an hour, it was 1983.

Stop making bad comparisons and you might be taken seriously

The cost of living has gone up here enormously, I dont live in Podunkville like you if you can live on $8 an hour...unless you lived with someone else or your Mom that is...
