May Ratings: FOX & Friends Losing Viewers: Down 45% In 25-54 "There appears to be a hairline crack in the fortress" that is FOX News, an industry source tells CableNewser. "FOX & Friends is down the most of all the morning shows and posted a staggering loss of 45% (year-to-year) in the key 25-54 demo. While the show still handily beats CNN, FOX & Friends was nipping at the heels of CBS's Early Show just a year ago." And the numbers are being noticed. "Fox executives are not happy with the latest direction of the show and voiced their concerns in recent days," the source adds. As their commercials point out, though, the show still beats CNN and MSNBC in the morning, combined... 3:35:49 PM

I used to watch Fox & Friends. They now just mimic the other shows in guests and stories. If it's bad news in Iraq, it's on. Edie sounds more and more like Katie Couric.
They've started following the pack. The media producers and writers for all these shows must be the most inbred bunch since the chihuahua was developed. Do any of them ever leave N.Y city?

There was another thread describing how CNN's ad rates are still much higher than Fox's. I think the panic that we see periodically convulsing CNN is the realization there that the market will eventually turn against them.

I was away on a road trip the last week...not one hotel carried FOX News. It was all CNN/MSNBC. I can't imagine what will happen as soon as they grow in the next year or 2.

Let's try to keep some perspective folks.

Special Report with Brit Hume surpassed Larry King Live to claim the number four spot with 1,149,000 viewers.

Meanwhile:
NBC's "Nightly News" averaged 9.08 million viewers
ABC's "World News Tonight" 8.79 million viewers
CBS' "Evening News" 6.97 million viewers

My major gripe with FoxNews Channel (and I have sent them a dozen or more email complaining about it) is that [expletives, plural, deleted] FoxNews Alert banner covering a chunk of the lower screen when they are showing live video especially or taped video.

Whoever operates their control room is a dolt. Even some of the newsreaders, such as Shep, have had to ask the control room to remove the banner so the video can be seen.

I usually turn over to MSNBC or CNN during live news. For some reason, their banners don't seem to be as intrusive as FoxNew is. And MSNBC/CNN seem to drop them during live video feeds.

Now if they could just drop the tabloid garbage - Michael Jackson, Scott Peterson, Kobi Bryant - and stick to real news ...

For the month of May, Special Report with Brit Hume surpassed Larry King Live to claim the number four spot with 1,149,000 viewers.

Cool, I did a Nielsen diary for a week in that month.

I have opted out of ALL television newscasts, even local news. I get all the news of the day from the internet. I watch some news analysis on TV but only after I have carefully screened the subject matter and vetted the participants in the discussion.

I refuse to turn my mind over to TV anchor people and their producers anymore, or to pay any attention to their agendas.

I'm now much easier to live with.
