Today on my local radio station I heard two examples of deliberate misuse of famous Reagan quotes.
1. Recession is when your neighbor loses his job. Depression is when you lose yours. And recovery is when...you get another job."
any avid Reagan fan knows that the actual quote here is
"Recession is when your neighbor loses his job. Depression is when you lose yours. And recovery is when Jimmy Carter loses his."
I e-mailed the program director at this point and corrected him. His response was as follows:
Thanks for the information. I'm sure it was just a misquote without any ulterior motives.
Ron Brooks
Program Director

and then...during the top of the 9am hour ABC news broadcast...they played a clip of another famous Reagn quote...the one about Thomas Jefferson..." This fellow they've nominated claims he's the new Thomas Jefferson. Well let me tell you something; I knew Thomas Jefferson..."
However, they left off the rest, deliberately IMHO
"...He was a friend of mine and Governor... You're no Thomas Jefferson!"
I have since e-mailed this program director again, but since the second example was from an ABC news feed, I don't think he will be able to do anything about it. I'm still waiting on a correction from the first example but I doubt this too will happen...
Is this happening where you live??
No waiting for a correction.
Misquoting and whitewashing have turned into a normal function.
So why should they make a correction.
As long as a spin is repeated long and often enough it will stick which exactly is the purpose of these opinion formatters.
Even Democrats acknowledge that he was a great speaker. Don't worry about the revisionist crap. It won't work.
I have gotten into the habit of turning the radio off during news breaks. I emailed a local talk show host (Kim Peterson) about ABC News breaks during his show being so bias and even he suggested turning it off.
I found a radio station that doesn't have news breaks, because I don't need them. I get my news from the Fox News Channel and Free Republic.
Mrs. Marauder is sometimes incredulous when she mentions something she read in the paper and I tell her that I've already heard about it.
Apparently he went to the Michael Moore school of journalist ethics.
Hopefully the many successful conservative talk radio stations will drop their liberal news feeds now that Fox Radio is available.

OH YES IT WILL!!! How do you think it got to the point we are at now? Revisionism is the liberals creed.
Revisionism as it applies to Reagan's skills as a communicator-- that's all I was talking about. That will fall on deaf ears.
Same ol'. But what else is new?
