My Prayer for the viewing, mourning, honor of President Reagan
Self | June 8, 2004 | Jeff Head

Posted on 06/08/2004 7:32:00 AM PDT by Jeff Head

Regarding the growing wait to see the late President Reagan lying in state.

...I am overjoyed to see it. I wish I could be there. I woudl gladly wait 24 hours or more to be honored to see him lying in state. Myself and my family will be there in spirit.

I pray that the masses who desire to see him amaze everyone...that they are so numberless that they cannot be contained. I pray that they will wait as long as necessary and be glad and willing to do so, in California and in DC...white, black, yellow, brown and red.

I pray that it becomes such a phenomena that the press can't hide it, that they are at a complete loss of wors to explain it... that their socialist/liberal programs and voices are in fact left utterly speechless by it!

This is my prayer for this week of mourning and honor for the former President Ronald Reagan and his great all-American legacy...a legacy that will show him to be on of the top tow or three greatest presidents this nation had evr had, or that we have been blessed by God to see in office.

I'm watching C-Span live as the people file by, and during the changing of the guard (about 10:30 p.m. Wash D.C. time) in the crowd was a woman with 6 children. She had a newborn asleep on her shoulder and the other 5 looked to be under 10 years old. The little girls had on pretty white dresses and the little boys were dressed in white shirts and neckties!! They were all well behaved for having stood in line for a long time. I didn't see a Dad with her. God Bless her!! I'm so proud to be an American.

"Couldn't help myself here. With all of the little jabs, inuendo and ouright lies and offensive statements about him the week of his death...this is my prayer to put all of that to rest."

You're not alone......it's been a roller coaster of emotion in my house too....between mourning and anger at the nitwit coverage some are giving this. But, it's obvious that we aren't alone in our admiration of the man, evidenced by people from everywhere coming to pay their respects....and ya know, President Reagan would have probably welcomed the sight of those that show up, with open arms...

Thank you for your comments. You said exactly what I
was thinking.

I hope there is a rebirth of the ideals and strength of Ronald Reagan. I see a lot of young people walking through the dome. I hope they will ask a lot of questions about Ronald Reagan. I am thankful for the news coverage, as I cannot be there in person.

Ronald Reagan did so much for humanity as well as lifting the American Spirit. You know you feel it when you feel like something overwhelming is in your heart about to escape and you want to shout to the whole world.

With the rest of the world making the word "American" seem dirty or disgusting, Ronald Reagan, even in death, is uplifting us up again to be untouchable in the true American Spirit.

God bless Ronald Reagan. He has earned a place in history, and heaven. People 100 years from now will ask about him.

For the idiots opening their mouth saying bad things, they have earned places in hell. Their behavior is shameful, and we will all remember. More than that, God will remember. He is the final judge, and jury.

DID you see this report from Kristinn at the MALL?

OVERWHELMING TURNOUT FOR REAGAN VIEWING AT CAPITOL, CROWDS SURGE PAST CAPACITY
June 10, 2004 | kristinn reporting in to tgslTakoma

Posted on 06/11/2004 12:00:59 AM EDT by tgslTakoma

Tens and tens of thousands of people have surged to the Capitol tonight, to pay their respects to President Reagan. The crowd has surged beyond all planned capacity, almost double what the authorities had planned for.

As of 11:45pm, the estimated wait time (given by Park Police officers on the scene) to get into the Rotunda is eight to eleven hours, meaning that those who are getting in line now have no chance of making it into the Rotunda before the 7am cut-off time for viewing.

The line begins at the west end (7th Street) of the National Air & Space Museum, and is snaking up and down the three-block length of the National Mall alongside the Museum; at least eight (8) times.

Those lines, in turn feed into the next block of similarly structured lines between 3rd and 4th Streets.

That segment, in turn feeds into yet another area at the Capitol Reflecting Pool! People are still getting in line at this time (11:53pm).

There are people from all cross-sections of society in line. Most families have left their young children at home, however.

The weather is perfect for an all night vigil.

Kristinn says he will call in later in the night with further updates.

As Bob Dole said earlier today, "Once again, Ronald Reagan has been underestimated."

I ditto that re Terri.

As I've seen the week's events unfold, and the hatred of the left begin to run in rivulets from the mouth of an evil volcano, I have a very strong impression that President Reagan's passing was perfectly timed. We needed renewal, and fresh courage, which we are finding in the midst of our outpouring of love for our great leader. We are finding ourselves refocused upon the lessons he taught us, and the virtues he embodied, as we rally around him.

He is gathering us together, and pointing to God - reminding us of the faith upon which our great country was founded, and reminding us of our mission to carry freedom to the ends of the earth.

We needed this NOW.

I tried to describe to someone just what this experience has been like for me, on FR. Sharing our grief, memories, and love for Ronald Reagan. Reading all the posts from people who had met him, those who were able to go to the Reagan Library, those whose lives were changed by him, and those who simply love him.

I tried to tell her about what it means, and how it feels, to be with fellow Americans from all over the country, and beyond, and citizens from other countries who love him, too. I really couldn't tell her exactly how it's been, because it's been phenomenal beyond words, and I wouldn't have missed this for the world.

I'm up in NY, and can't be down in DC, but I'm here. And all of us are spiritually there. These threads have been memorials, just like the wall at the Reagan Library. Instead of flowers and other mementos, we have posted thoughts, prayers, pictures, conversations, and reflections, which are every bit as real.

I got the great news today, that my place of business is closed tomorrow. I will be able to spiritually participate in the President's funeral, just as I had hoped. The TV will be on with the sound turned down, and Rush will be my audio. And we'll all be family together, and lovingly send our leader to his rest.

God has answered your prayers, regardless of how the media tries to diminish the numbers. Eyes of those witnessing it, do not lie.

I agree with this wholeheartedly, but I still want to see him on the $20. The libs would have to see his face every day, and have to love it.

Maybe the libs would even insist on a tax cut: "Oh no! No more of those Reagan twenties!"

In a way it feels like he's Rip Van Winkle. He's been asleep for 10 years, and suddenly woke up, to pick up right where he left off.

Anybody else feel that way?

Ditto!

I love seeing all the parents with their kids. I'm amazed to hear of all the youngsters who say they love Ronald Reagan.

This is the same prayer of many, many people...and despite some of the spin, yes, I believe it is being magnificantly answered.

Ronald Reaagan, even as he departs, is still serving his country.

Thank you for that beautiful and moving description...you have hit the proverbial nail on the head with it...along with your later comments about Rip Van Winkle.

I believe God is letting us see and feel the great optimism, strength, virtue and faith of this great man as he passes...and that it is an answer to prayer and a beckon call to us all to continue the legacy and make it our own, wherever and however we can within our own spheres of influence.

Sadly, not all of the criticism is coming from the left. I received an e-mail yesterday from the Howard Philips types accusing him of being a sell-out on abortion. However, my generation knows what it felt like to be a young person in the late 70's and being worried about our country, and we know what it felt like at the end of the 80's after President Reagan brought us back. He had a vision and made it happen. That can be said of few men.

One More Tribute (to President Reagan)

Thanks for that post from Kristinn...can you ping me to that thread?

I pray the outpouring continues and that it does indeed astonish all.

I also pray they find a way to either speed things up even more, or extyend the time so more people can attend and pay their respects to this great man.

You're welcome, and thank *you*!

I believe God is letting us see and feel the great optimism, strength, virtue and faith of this great man as he passes...and that it is an answer to prayer and a beckon call to us all to continue the legacy and make it our own, wherever and however we can within our own spheres of influence.

I believe this, too. It's like a new shot of spiritual energy! I find myself mourning less, and becoming more joyful and optomistic. And brave! :o)

I have no patience for news that is not related in some way to Ronald Reagan. I just turn it off. This is our time with him.

And with all the video, audio, and discussions about him (even the same old insults!), it's like he's live in the media, in real time. I just started to become aware of this sensation tonight. I think this is a blessing. The message to us must have immediacy, in order to produce the biggest impact within us.

You just have to get to the Library, and reach for him - your feeling is more than just a passion for history. I pray that you'll make it. When one of us goes, we all go!

Thank-you for your words, Jeff.

More than anything I would have loved to be there for the viewing. Couldn't.

Our oldest son is named Ronald and I LOVED his politics!

He was a great and kind man. Witty beyond words.
The sound of joy could be heard coming as he entered the room.
He was admired by everyone that came in contact with him.
His way with adversaries put them at total ease.

The only ones that weren't won with his kindness were the slithering liberals that hate him and freedom.
They pose as just "the other side of the aisle".

Ronald Reagan could make them laugh, but their desire to destroy the very freedoms he believed in make them obvious to most of us.

There is a world view that is different for them. They want to be in charge.
Then there is the Constitution. This is what President Reagan believed. He loved this Country. As he said, "he was there when it was created". So. he knew what they meant!
Ha, he was so disarming! I love that!

Lets stay on course with George W. Bush folks. Ronnie would have wanted it. It's the only way we are going to progress as a Nation. It's the way Ronald Reagan would have voted.

Times are changing, but Liberals don't. They want one thing and one thing only. They want your money as theirs and want to give away the Sovereignty of our Country.
Our Founding Fathers did not risk life and limb to be under some UN or Nato Military.

Ronald Reagan knew this. That's why he poured tax dollars into our Military to make us the greatest Nation in the world.

We have had the biggest economic boom in the history of the world. All because God gave Ronald Reagan the wisdom to know how to bring this about! He looked to the future. He could see much farther ahead than most. That's because he was looking through the eyes of God!

God's hand is on this man and, bless his heart, he is with Him today!!! Looking at this world!

God Bless Nancy and family to get through this day. And bless all of us that loved him. May they, and we, find peace in knowing the love and wisdom of this great man!
