Regarding the growing wait to see the late President Reagan lying in state.
...I am overjoyed to see it. I wish I could be there. I woudl gladly wait 24 hours or more to be honored to see him lying in state. Myself and my family will be there in spirit.
I pray that the masses who desire to see him amaze everyone...that they are so numberless that they cannot be contained. I pray that they will wait as long as necessary and be glad and willing to do so, in California and in DC...white, black, yellow, brown and red.
I pray that it becomes such a phenomena that the press can't hide it, that they are at a complete loss of wors to explain it... that their socialist/liberal programs and voices are in fact left utterly speechless by it!
This is my prayer for this week of mourning and honor for the former President Ronald Reagan and his great all-American legacy...a legacy that will show him to be on of the top tow or three greatest presidents this nation had evr had, or that we have been blessed by God to see in office.
What we learned this week is that Reagan was a great AMerican. He was also a Conservative. The connection- conservatives can be great Americans if they stick to their ideals. Bush embodies that principle.
There was an interesting book some years ago called Generations, an historian's theory that there are cycles in succeeding generations in America that tend to repeat--cynicism/lost, parentally ignored/silent but tending to turn to peers for community effort and support, idealistic--I really don't remember them well.
The book mentioned that idealistic generations are often inspired by a "gray eminence"--a figure from a great grandfather generation that represented their cycle in the turning of this historical wheel. These last couple of days I've been wondering if Ronald Reagan will turn out to be that "gray eminence" for a new, young generation now forming it's destiny.
The theory is probably half truth and half hokum, but it did spawn the term "Generation X". The one coming of age now I think of as the Parentless Generation, and their defining moment will be 9/11.
God truly blessed us with President Ronald Reagan. And I believe he has also blessed us with someone who cannot completely fill the shoes, but is much like him--President George W. Bush, who gave a wonderful eulogy today to honor President Reagan.
You're no longer here, you've left us far behind,
Such things to remember, crowded in my mind.
Days long gone now, a time for all to see,
A vision for the future, the yearning to be free.
The words you shared, the wisdom that they showed,
They gave such hope, a flame that brightly glowed.
Some may forget you, I will fondly genuflect,
You are now in memories, you rest there with respect.
You were my leader, while I served,
You were my guide, when I swerved.
You were my teacher, when I forgot,
You were my friend, though you knew me not.
A small effort on my part. It is hard to put in words all that we feel.
Today has been an extraordinary day...and its not over yet.
The prayers of this humble cowboy have been more than answered.
Amen to every bit of that...I hope and pray that someone makes a DVD of that entire service available. It would be something that is passed down with respect, honor, thanksgiving and awe to generations that follow in the Head household.

Yes he did...with God working with and through him, his death and passing were the culmination to the great Liberator's work here amongst us.
May we strive to do all in our power to emulate this great man within our own spheres of influence in any way we can...and thus extend his great legacy to every knook and cranny in this nation.

God works in miraculous ways. God is great. Everything and every moment serves a purpose here on the earthly plane. We can rejoice that Ronald Reagan served this country and the world when he did, God gave him a calling, and Mr. Reagan heeded that call. I thank God and the Lord Jesus for their trusted servant, Ronald Reagan.
Amen FRiend. This would be a great way to honor Ronald Reagan's legacy.
My prayer going forward is that President George W. Bush has now seen the love and admiration that President Reagan inspired across America, and that this will inspire him to take on more fully in his second term the mantle of true Conservatism. And that he will do as President Reagan did, and go around the liberal media, and take his case directly to the American public.
This means working for smaller government, no more trying to make the liberals happy. It is nice to try to get along. But it is deadly. Because making them happy puts the country at risk. I also pray that the blinders have been removed on the part of a significant portion of the population to allow them to see that America is conservative, and that that is good.
It would seem our prayers were answered.
I waited in line only 3 1/2 hours to go through the Rotunda to pay respects to President Ronald Reagan. It was an honor for me to do so.
I was there out of respect for President Reagan, but also for Nancy. I wanted Nancy Reagan to see hundreds of thousands of people along the route of the procession, in line for the viewing at the Rotunda, in line at the library, lining the procession route back in California. I wanted her to see with her own eyes that she and her husband were loved. And she did.
We should feel bouyed up by all the people who were in line. They were young and old, black and white and brown and red, military and civilian - we were all there - and we all appreciated, loved, and honored Ronald and Nancy Reagan.
We didn't buy into the spin, the distortions, and the lies told about Ronald Reagan. The hard left isn't going to like this outpouring, and will no doubt redouble their efforts to demonize conservatives, republicans, and most assuredly, George W. Bush.
Stand up and be heard, tell the truth, and don't back down. Ronald Reagan has given us the example to follow.

Jeff, when I heard him say that, I immediately thought of you. I think we can be heartened because it looks like there's a zillion FReepers that heard God's message loud and clear.

They made us check our cameras (to be returned on the other side) and turn off cell phones. Then we walked another couple hundred yards and we went through a bank of ten-twelve metal detecors, then we were walked up to the Capitol West veranda to the front of the Rotunda.
I then got to stand in the most amazing place for almost an hour while the funeral ended and the room was readied for visitors. I was standing on the edge of the veranda, right in front of the entrance to the Rotunda. Facing the Mall, the sun set over Washington. We all had the same thought- “the shining city on the hill”.
The view was unbelievable and the same as that seen by Ronald Reagan when he was the first to be inaugurated on this side of the Capitol “facing America”. I was moved by that view. People around me in line were saying prayers for America and President Reagan and President Bush from that spot. I read JeffHead’s prayer that I had carried with me.
At this point we were all lined up, and I counted my position in line, I was #40—and Ronald Reagan was our fortieth President. I remember thinking I am glad I wasn’t #42. (that was Margaret Thatcher’s speechwriter but I didn’t tell him). At 9:20 or so the door to the Capitol opened. And we were admitted.
My whole story is on the thread referenced below, but this is the part about Jeff's prayer, which was answered I believe. I sent Jeff the copy of his prayer that I carried with me that nght. I just wanted to make this thread complete.

WOW! I'm so glad that you had the opportunity to pray Jeff's prayer in such a perfect setting. How wonderful! And how privileged you were to remain there, with other people of faith, for so long. I have an impression of almost heaven. Your heart must have been so lifted up!
God is so loving in His details, especially when they have to do with the deepest sentiments of our hearts. It astounds me sometimes to realize how much He cares about our intentions and feelings. :o)

Martinez--- for sheer poltical reasons. If Martinez is on the November ballot, it will ensure a high voter turnout for Hispanics that are more inclined to vote for Bush. As we all know in Florida, every vote counts and all the votes should ne counted :)
