I live in California. I think a lot of people "misunderestimated" Arnold.

In his short six months he accomplished a tremendous amount of very important feats -- he is turning CA around, from literally near bankruptcy.

Most Californians are pro-choice. Arnold is being a realist. We should focus on reducing abortion and creating a culture of life. Any one who thinks abortion will be outlawed here in the foreseeable future is dreaming.

Arnold needs to come home to his Catholic Church
regarding abortion. He needs it for his own good
and for his soul.

Right now, he's just like democrat Catholics.

Exactly. Roe V Wade can only be overturned by the Supremes or a federal constitutional amendment. The Governor of California has no power to affect it.

Yeah and no one bashes Rudolph Guiliani for it. Reasonable people can disagree about the best way to foster a culture of life in this country.

stance if and when he tries for the presidency.

Right now, they like him... think he's a
GOP maverick of sorts.

It is a slope though...whether slippery or not ....that if the only Pubbie who can get elected statewide must behave as a Dem then our only gain is whatever we get from having a Pubbie around for national elections and reapportionment ...if they have the stones to stand up then.

I'm not accusing Rudy or Arnold of that. I would say Bloomberg is a caver and gives us no edge at all that I'm aware of.

It's a curious trend and frankly often leaves me out. No doubt the right is as strong as it's been in my lifetime but our success has moderated us...particularly on cultural issues which are for me the main reason I am on the right....and still sets the tone for the majority of the right imho.

However for the time being, modrut Pubs beat your average Dem by a long shot but they can hurt ya. (in the Senate particularly)

My fellow Freepers in California - Please keep us posted on Arnold's progress. From a distance, I can say that it looks like he's doing a swell job.

I noticed that he was sitting directly behind Nancy at the funeral service at the library. This ain't by accident. I don't think we've heard the last of the Governor.

One important way to protect unborn children is to help their mothers see how precious they are to all of us. At least I think Governor Schwarzenegger is working on that as hard as he can by stamping out the malaise and talking about how important families are to our future. This is juxtaposed to those who claim that we are overpopulated. I kid you not, a strong contingent of Californian "intellectuals" believe that humans are overwhelming the health of the planet not just by their behaviors but by their sheer numbers. (In other words, you can't fix it without slashing us back...) The Governor is a very different breed from these types of Kalistanians.

When Arnold and his wife approached the final resting place for Ronald Reagan they blessed themselves.....Arnold made the sign of the cross by touching his head, heart, right shoulder and then his left shoulder. His wife blessed herself left to right. Arnold seems to have decided any way is OK - the motto of the 'new' church.

I am not bashing him, I'm desperately puzzled how this man can call himself a proud American and do this disgusting thing to his fellow Californians! What the hell is the matter with the man? Why does he have this blind spot? It's insane!!!

I sincerely wish you strong supporters would politely, but strongly ask him to re-think this dastardly deed before our deeds become worthless and further restricted in a Socialist's Paradise. I'm not trying to insult, I'm pleading for help!!!

The Wasp is 100% correct in his evaluation, if your an insider with the Gubernator, perhaps you could get the man to view what the Conservatives in the neighborhood would like. It's not a bash....it's a call for help, we will let you know before we turn ugly.

Maybe I've missed it, but this is the first time I've heard of this entity
you call the "Sierra-Nevada Conservancy".
And I try to keep track of CA politics via talk radio and occassionally reading
The Los Angeles Times for opposition research.

Is this happening under new/old legislation, a court order, or "powerful people"
moving behind the scenes?

I thought you were making measured comment on Arnold. He's not perfect, but from
what I hear on the conservative talk shows here in LA, he's at least
stabilized the wreck that Gray Davis made and is now making some headway with
the Communist-Socialists, er, Democrats running the legislature.

Maybe you should start an occassional thread, limked to good news reports or
websites about this Conservancy (and my apologies if I've missed the thread in the
midst of the information tsunami of freerepublic).

PS: Doug McIntyre, an uncloseted Republican who works as a writer in Hollywood,
has a popular overnight talkshow on KABC radio in LA (www.kabc.com).
He uncovered a small empire that some fellow legally erected that even allows
him to run elections that provide for new levying of taxes on property owners...
under the guise of maintaining "open spaces". Land owners that didn't
identify the poorly (on purpose!) labeled notice of election ended up with tax liens!

Maybe you have a similar situation. Give a call on the internet call line
to McIntyre and see if you're facing similar problems under the same state program.
