"President Reagan symbolized to me what America represented — hope, opportunity, freedom. He made us remember that the United States stood for something great and noble. Once again, it was alright to stand tall and believe in this country, and in ourselves."

===

Beautiful. Thanks for posting it.

Well done governor Arnie! Many think he embodies some of the optimistic features of President Reagan.

I bookmarked it to insure that this fall is not only spiritual, but properly pumped up, too.

Yes, I'll remember all these fine words as me and my neighbors in the Sierra-Nevada range have to begin dealing with the new Socialistic Suffocation of our property rights and values with his mindless support of a Sierra-Nevada Conservacancy!!!

I am not bashing him, I'm desperately puzzled how this man can call himself a proud American and do this disgusting thing to his fellow Californians! What the hell is the matter with the man? Why does he have this blind spot? It's insane!!!

I sincerely wish you strong supporters would politely, but strongly ask him to re-think this dastardly deed before our deeds become worthless and further restricted in a Socialist's Paradise. I'm not trying to insult, I'm pleading for help!!!

Arnold genuinely reveres Reagan and donated a bust of the Gipper to the Reagan Library. So far there have been no tax increases, there's a limit on government spending in the state constitution, and workers' comp reform. Not bad for a first year in office. I'll take our Governor over his predecessor any day.

So far, the Governator has given me no reason to regret my vote. This short essay underscores that.

I am ALWAYS stirred by the rendition of Battle Hymn of the Republic, as arranged by Peter Wilhousky and recorded beautifully by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on their "The Sound of Glory" CD. This was also played and sung in today's service. Truly fitting for the Reagan service!

I laugh when you are accused of sowing dissension here by posting positive articles highlighting Governor Schwarzenegger's impressive accomplishments. There's some bitterness left over from the October election, I'm guessing. ;^)

Arnold learned a lot from Reagan.

Ronald Reagan, in his own words, from his autobiography:

"When I began entering into the give and take of legislative bargaining in Sacramento, a lot of the most radical conservatives who had supported me during the election didn't like it.

"Compromise" was a dirty word to them and they wouldn't face the fact that we couldn't get all of what we wanted today. They wanted all or nothing and they wanted it all at once. If you don't get it all, some said, don't take anything.

"I'd learned while negotiating union contracts that you seldom got everything you asked for. And I agreed with FDR, who said in 1933: 'I have no expectations of making a hit every time I come to bat. What I seek is the highest possible batting average.'

"If you got seventy-five or eighty percent of what you were asking for, I say, you take it and fight for the rest later, and that's what I told these radical conservatives who never got used to it."

Schwarzenegger Pays Tribute to Reagan During Prayer Breakfast

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger paid tribute to former President Ronald Reagan during the state's annual prayer breakfast Wednesday morning.

The event provided a chance for state lawmakers, business leaders and community members to join together in prayer on behalf of California.

Schwarzenegger went on to voice his admiration for Reagan, another actor-turned-governor. "I had many times the chance to meet him and to speak with him, and every time I talked to him he was very inspirational, very encouraging, and very motivational," said Schwarzenegger.

The governor also talked about the philosophical legacy of the former president. "We will miss President Reagan, but we will carry on with the optimism he taught us, and his abiding belief of what America stood for," he said.

In addition to his remarks about Reagan, Schwarzenegger also spoke about the diversity of religions, which he said is a great strength for the country.

I have three siblings raising families in California, so I've been an interested outside observer. I think the Governor has exceeded every expectation his supporters had when they voted for him last October. Keep posting these positive developments here, there are many who appreciate the most important State in our Union returning to its rightful economic glory.

Arnold needs to home to his Church,
and change his stance on abortion.
Once he's done that, he'll be a better person.
