Most. But apparently not all. (Just a little FR "memory lane" bump.)
and why do they do this? Back in the 70's when I drove from Massachusetts to Ca. I went thru those, and many times since. Their excuse back then was to check for the fruits and veggies was for insects that may come in that would harm the crops in California, not for tax purposes.
A similar stop to check for smokes and booze and whatnot would thus seem equally applicable
That statement there tells me that you are all for taxing something that was not purchased in that state, and furthermore against free Enterprise and free trade between the states.
The communists here in New York want to do the same thing, there again in the constant search for revenues they have forced the people of this state to claim on their taxes Internet purchases, reservation purchases and to top it off out of county purchases.
So if I drive to Pennsylvania and get gas for the return trip, I have to estimate how much is left in my tank as soon as I cross the state border and claim it on my taxes.
This is absolute bull$hit, it is the overreaching socialist commie government that we have now allowed to control our country/state. I do believe that this may fit into the category of "taxation without representation.
How much further are we going to allow the government to invade in our lives? This must stop, plain and simple.
look at this site..

...The Michigan group, apparently led by Elias Akhdar, also acquired large quantities of untaxed cigarettes from Gordon, the grandmother of Akhdar's common-law wife, Brandy Jo Bowman. Gordon is a member of the Seneca Indian tribe, which occupies the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation in Irving, N.Y. Bowman apparently ran a tobacco shop on the reservation.
North Carolina levies a 50-cent-per-carton tax on cigarettes. Cigarettes sold on the New York reservation are untaxed. Since 1994, Michigan's cigarette tax has jumped from $2.50 to $12.50 per carton. In 1998, Michigan enacted a law requiring that each pack of cigarettes sold within the state carry a Michigan tax stamp.
In 2001, the indictment said, Elias Akhdar traveled to New York to burn down Bowman's Indian Express tobacco shop after removing the untaxed cigarettes and sending them to Michigan. She then filed a fraudulent insurance claim to try to collect on the fire, the indictment said.
Elias Akhdar also is accused of trying to persuade conspirators not to cooperate with federal investigators.
Cigarette-tax evasion aided terror, U.S. says...
And no, I am not by posting this meaning to paint Indians with a broad brush.
I posted it to give some relevant background information.
I don't judge all white people by Johnny Jihad, all black people by the actions of the fragger in Kuwait, or all indians by the actions of this woman.
Not being an Indian, I don't know what most whites do to you, but I can assure you that as a white, most minorities never let us forget either ;) LOL
Thanks Mayor, our statistics are bad too. I hope most of the businesses will recover, though many have already closed and people have lost EVERYTHING JUST BECAUSE OF THEIR GOVERNMENT! No wonder that guy in Colorado (?)bulldozed jhalf his town down when they screwed his livelihood.
can you add me to your puff list?
LOST EVERYTHING JUST BECAUSE OF THEIR GOVERNMENT!
Yup!
I know I'm late to the party, but the Tribes here control the tabacco cartel. And I say thank goodness.
I can get a carton of Viceroys for $17.95 at the smoke shop, or pay $3.00 a pack at WalMart.
The gaming thing gripes me, but my entire county is on the Res and all these things are either grandfathered in or are so entrenched that nothing is going to change.
Got you added! Thanks!!
Perhaps the government can be "persuaded" to remove it's claws from the other citizens of the state as well ;)
BWAAAAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!
so sorry - but that just struck me as VERY amusing!!!
I'd sure like to have those one dollar license plates proudly proclaiming "Cherokee Nation"-----oddly driven by persons named O'Brian. Oh! And the first in line status when my boys apply for college.
Best wishes for your fight! Bingo needs taxing.
Yeah, how silly of me LOL
Thanks Annie. :)
You're very welcome. If you would, please ping me with any Injun (no offense to any other readers) things?
I'd appreciate it. There is a hidden agenda here in OK and the Indian Mafia has a large red hand in it.
I knew you would understand my amusement :)
