Sink the Pink!

The "Halt the Assault Tour" is coming to a town near you this summer! The Halt the Assault tour will be on the road in their pink RV throughout the summer as they take their fact-free message of the joys of gungrabbing and state submission directly to the voters. At each stop they will urge President Bush and our spaghetti-spined Congress to save the assault weapons ban, each time exploiting tragic deaths in order to steal our freedoms. Can we make sure that Freepers greet them at every stop?

Their schedule appears below in post 1. Tomorrow through the 22nd they are in Illinois. Unfortunately, their site is not activist-friendly, and by that I mean any activist, on either side! Only vague location info (city names , sometimes an entire state) are posted so we need eyes on the ground, telling us where they will be! If you can use the javascript application on their homepage to sign up for tour info, that would be good too. It's best to open a separate window and type in their url (www.millionmommarch.com) so that their tracking software doesn't tell them you linked from FR. Expect press releases in your local papers, and if you see them post the times and locations here, but the javascript signup is definitely going to be the best bet! In addition, please sign up for our Sink The Pink ping list and/or a geographic ping list, so you can keep tabs on this batch of propagandist pamperers.

Let's not gauge the effectiveness of this tour by the dismal turnout at the Washington March-- These people are trying to take the freedom that guarantees all the others, the freedom used and cemented at Lexington and Concord, and we know from the last thirty years that their message can erode those freedoms if that message gets out unopposed. So let's hit them hard, early and often!

One last note: The "Halt the Assault" strategy is based on telling the public about terrible shootings where young lives were snuffed out. The best counter to this, IMHO is two fold:

1. Point out that the persons killed were either not killed by "assault weapons", were killed by assault weapons and the ban didn't stop it, or (best of all) they were killed in an area that already has strict forms of gun control. For example, Chicago was the murder capital of the world last year, even though they have had a handgun ban for years.

2. We must also ask why tragic deaths caused by criminal shooters justify you and I losing the ability to defend our families from those same criminal shooters. Self-defense is a human right, and laws that allow it are the real definition of "sensible gun laws."

Guys, I made a posting error last week and left folks with the impression that Kerry would be in Illinois from the 16th to the 22nd. I looked at their site and they do have a chapter in Allegheny County, I'll have to keep my eyes peeled, if I have the time and such, I'd like to see if I could join in a Freepin' of the Pink Bus.

I did read the story on one stop at a gas station in Iowa where they talked ot the attendent there, heck, if they came to my gas station, I'd refuse service. Same thing if I had a restaraunt and so on.

One thing I'd like to ask the "Thousand Moos" is since their goals is to preserve life, how would they feel about abortion? I'm sure you might score a few pro-lifers but my "Spidey Sense" is telling me that most of them would be pro-abortion.

The Million Moo Mom March's "Halt the Assault" Road Tour will be traveling our beautiful state today through the 22nd. All their chapters are in Chicagoland, but all Land of Lincoln Freepers should be on the lookout for them, especially if you live in an area where Tories liberal twits tend to congregate. Please note that they used to have a Champaign Chapter, and may still pay a visit to that area.

They were in San Antonio on June 4th, while the TX Republican Convention was going on.

They held a small press conference away from the Convention Center where the Republicans were meeting.

It apparently was a very contrieved press conference---they only had 4 MMM'ers there, (and 16 Republicans who went over to harrass them a bit). We noticed that they only got a few lines in the San Antone paper for all their big press conference!

We had heard that they may show up on Saturday, so we got some SASTERS together and went over to "greet" them--but they never showed.

You make a good point. However, I have found that local blue-state media likes nothing better than covering local events related to the Million Mom March. Think of what it gets them: Lots of drama, a local connection to a national issue, relevance to continuing gun violence in their city (and there's always plenty of gun violence in Dem-run urban areas) and oodles of gore to support the main gungrabbing argument: dead kids. Can there be any doubt that the average newspaper editor gets warm and fuzzy feeling out of putting some mother on his front page, preferably looking brave and holding a smiling school picture of her dead kid, who was probably killed by a thug violating ten different gun laws? Can there be any doubt that people who take an anti-gun rally in Washington DC for Pete's sake seriously will never fail to give guungrabbers all the publicity they want? Also, note that every time I've gone to a local paper's website looking for a Million Mom March press release, my search of their site has turned up multiple references to the March and the resulting tour, often in the form of profiles of unopposed profiles of the local chapter matriarchs.

The bottom line is that the press will be there. We have to show the other side, and a little action like this gets an inordinate amount of attention. In February of 2003 about 60 peaceniks held an anti-war protest here in Freeport. Only myself and USAF1991 were there to oppose them. They got a picture on the front page and they regretted it, because the peaceniks in the photo were holding signs predicting 500,000 civilian deaths in Iraq and new terror attacks in the US. Meanwhile, 25% of the accompanying article was devoted to we two freepers, and we got the last word. If the pink rig shows up, they will get covered. If two or three patriots show up to oppose them, they will get covered too. If they don't, they won't, and the propaganda of fascists goes out unopposed.
