I hear ya. But at the same time, something weird is going on. I recently acquired a white Challenger R/T with a stroked Six Pack, (in keeping with a promise to my 9 yr. old son, figured I better jump in before the price gets even higher). Upon inspection by his little friends, they stood speechless, their eyes glazed over for about 30 seconds. Then they started chanting, "Musclecar, Musclecar!"
It seems they are familiar with such things from the toy replicas in the shelves at Walmart. But it was like they were looking at something from another planet, not really any more real to them than the Star Wars toys in the next aisle.
Indeed, the kids today like their chainsaw sounding Hondas and such, but they get positively giddy around real iron from back in the day.
Some of us were lucky to have lived it.
