Pat Buchanan stopped being a conservative when he started hanging out with that Marxist running mate of his on the Reform Party ticket in 2000.

He'll not change one mind.
He'll only pile on, make
$500K, insure that he's forever
hated by most Republicans,
but, with this book, he'll
get invited on the talk/news shows
that ordinarily ignore him.

Was this written by Rip Van Winkle? Came down from the hills and missed the last . . . who knows who long? This "development" should come as a surprise to no one.

KING GEORGE SUDDENLY OUT OF FAVOR by Sara Nelson

Hmm. Come to think of it, I could see that headline from the left today. LOL.

IIRC, Pat Buchanan led the parade to prevent Bush 41 from getting reelected, and IMO is the reason we got Clinton.

He can stick it where the sun don't shine...

Publishing insiders say Buchanan's thoughts on the 43rd president are surprisingly out of character.

Considering that Buchanan ran for president against both 41 and 43, what exactly is "out of character" or surprising about this?

Isn't it interesting, though, that Buchanan got a half million advance to write his anti-Bush screed. I doubt he got any book advances anywhere near that amount when he was still a Republican. And have you noticed how Buchanan's anti-semitism was such an issue back in the day, but now that he's a Bush-basher, it's completely ignored by the media?

Ole Pat is a joke.
He always has been. He says whatever it takes to get him attention. I am still baffled why some would care about anything the man has to say. He is not really a policy expert. He flip flops as much as John Kerry. If you watch him for a week on his shows with folks like Press, you'll see him change his stance on an issue about 3 times.
Whatever works at the moment to get his points and cash.
I have seen him make statements about Iraq, only to wonder if he had actually watched the news for the week before said comments. After listening to some of Pat's doomed idea, it makes me happy that he is not in agreement with Bush. It means Bush is doing thing right.

Something tells me Joe Lieberman won't be one of the democrats lining up to buy the book.

I wonder how he'll manage to tie W together with the Jooos in humiliation of the Fatherland, causing the Islamists to jihad. (I know that sounds really screwed up, but those are his usual "morals to the story" in his steaming piles of Pat.)

I still don't understand why anyone on this planet gives a $hit what this wannabe Nazi has to say about anything. He's a nobody - can anyone name an elected position he's ever had in government? No. Then why is he more qualified to critique any administration on any issue than any one of us in here? Screw Pat, and all the other loudmouthed know it alls that do nothing but bitch.

"I don't know what ol' Pat's motivation is"

Just a theory here and I could be way off base...
I've seen something like this happen in local politics. Someone who has been active in politics as a volunteer or whatever decides to run for office. Then, they don't make it past the primary and they become resentful towards the party. They feel like the party owes them after years of service and they feel betrayed. Instead of realizing they ran a bad campaign or the opponent simply ran a better campaign, they act like the party screwed them.
So maybe Pat feels like conservatives and Republicans owed him the nomination and now he's taking it out on the man who ended up as president.

The democratic party should give an award to Pat for all his help over the past decade or two.

June 17, 2004 -- JOINING the ranks of Bush-bashing books is one from a most unlikely source. The Thomas Dunne imprint of St. Martin's Press has agreed to pay around $500,000 to Pat Buchanan for an anti-Dubya book to be called "Where the Right Went Wrong."

kattracks, with all well deserved appreciation for your posts which I enjoy every night and hope to be able to enjoy in the future, this thread sadly rates a response of "so?"

Poor guy is getting senile in his old age, I guess he forgot where his roots are and who he supposed to be a follower of.
