Hey, you know better than I do, I'm sure. I am quite sure I don't have spyware; but it seems I'm still having difficulties. (See my post above.)
Any thoughts? Please privately Freepmail, so as to be sure I see it (I get pinged a lot). Thanks in advance.
PS --- could someone infected try to email me and do this to me, even though I haven't READ my email for a week?
I can't tried to receive mail today (Netscape) and I receive error message when I try to read. Haven't checked my personal mail for about a week.
Can senders infect others, when the others don't even open/read? That's pretty darn nasty.
I thought 'womework' was punny, dude! ... The kid is trolling porn (womework) and ... oh never mind.
clean your cookies and temp internet files.
Sounds like Spyware has invaded your computer.
I know it sounds like it, but it ain't so. I'm not a newbie to computers and their perils.
I'm just a little dumb when it's software related (not using software, I'm not, but I am when it takes over, I am.
Like for instance, since 6/19 and reading a thread entitled "Re: Email Virus Wreaking Havoc Worldwide" and responding to js1138 in a private email asking me what's my system, cpu and windows version and updates" [perhaps I privately Freepmailed back, I think, because I rec'd a reply] - I cannot read FreeRepublic, nor anywhere else for that matter, for more then 3-4-5 pages; then it's hung.
As a matter of fact, I can't seem to find poster js1138 here anymore, which seems like he was the problem.
Although I said I cannot read FR, that's not exactly right. I can dial in and then log on to my employer's site - who will not appreciate it one bit. Democratic to the core, she is.

"A Windows Program Information File dates back to the early versions of Windows. Basically, it's an information file that when you click on it the information in the file is used by Windows to run some program; including code that can be in the PIF file. It is a potentially dangerous file type and one should never click on one received via E-mail without extensive knowledge of exactly what it will do first."

Blocking .pif is a no-brainer

It WAS NOT rec'd in an email - I haven't checked e-mail for awhile. Just trying to tell you all that. I'm pretty sure, I got this this here; not privately.
I was RESPONDING to Kanawa's "What does 'pif' stand for?"
Oops, pardon me.
Nah, ignore my caps as well. It's been a hard week.
Let me refer you to anothe computer post, if you haven't seen it yet.

I'm sure it HAS been a hard week for you. Other recent warriers, too. God love ya, I mean it. Hope you are recovering.
Private citizens applaud vets, here and now, and here and before.
[just to tell some folks who may not know this. OUR USA has many, many, MANY VietNam Veterans who Still,to this day, do NOT get their benefits promised to them.]
Just to make clear: my partner of many years has been classified 100% P&T since 1996 - so I ain't looking for his personal recourse.
