"The difference is that there was a chance CBS would cave. This film will get shown, and these protests will not stop that. The theaters and distributors signed on AFTER the controversy, and largely because of the controversy."

**
I think you're spot on.

However, I don't think most true Americans will believe it!!

No matter what else others think who say they they agree with him. Who are they anyway? Mostly Hollywood f'wads, and of course the Frenchies. Who cares?

Just to clarify where I stand on this: I am by no means a fan of Michael Moore. He is a parasite feeding on the American psyche, and is as lovable as any parasite.

But as with parasites in nature, there is a place for people like Moore, and he fills it amply. He's there because he belongs there.

If people want to see Moore's work and support him, more power to them. It's one of the many blessings of being an American that we can make these choices for ourselves. Likewise, if people want to protest him, then great! Yet another blessing.

It's only fair to point out, however, that a person who protests Moore and draws attention to him is far more valuable to him than someone who simply goes to see his movie.

So if you really dislike what Moore does, ignore him. He will either eventually go away on his own or become desperate enough to do something for attention that will land him in jail. Either outcome is fine with me.

But as long as there is a market for his brand of puerile rubbish, someone will always be there to take his place. He stands out because he is unusually good at what he does, a dubious accolade for a rabid propagandist, but one he deserves.

Look, as an American, Michael Moore has the right to film, edit and produce this trash. We as Americans have the right to either protest it, see it or ignore it.

PT Barnum said and I am parapharsing, "there is a sucker born every minute"

People like Moore bank on that.

If Loews is responsible for the "presentation" of the movie, then there should be a big yellow warning label on the Marquee of each mention of his film that says:

"Warning! This film is fiction, not a documentary!"

I don't recall Mel Gibson making a movie prior to the Passion that purported to be a "documentary" and was shown to be a pack of lies.

It is different. Your strawman argument doesn't wash.

Sister_T's point is valid. We, as conservatives, have a responsibility to oppose this crap.

It directly aids, abets, and supports the terrorists by undermining America's will to fight.

It can't simply be ignored.

First-class job on this, truthandlife. Many, many thanks to you. Messages should indeed go to these sources. Otherwise we will be acquiesing in a crime of very large magnitude.

This piece of putridity is not entertainment in any sense.

It is a deliberate and diabolical degradation of our nation, of each of us, of our families, of the men and women who have gone before and - especially veterans.

It is an incitement to violence and terrorism against America, and to Americans traveling abroad. It is a hateful misrepresentation and slandering of men and women in our armed forces; and it distinctly places them, as well as all of us, in unceasing harms way.

I remember the years of WWII well; and there is no essential difference between the rabid, frothing, gesticulating Adolf Hitler - and Michael Moore.

Moore wears the outward appearance of a clown; but he is every bit as poisonous, psychotic, and swollen with hate as was the person who, along with those in Imperial Japan, led the way to an eventual 50 million war-deaths.

It is ironic that "Nazi" is so often on Moore's repugnant lips and those of his following. They are all without love - the lack of which was the core of Nazism, that which destroyed so much of the world a half-century ago.

Evil ever reappears. Each of us has been placed here and now to just not observe it as a voyeur - but to do something about it to the best of our ability. And that includes ever affirming the true and the good.

What you are missing is that the type of opposition outlined in this thread serves to drive more people to seeing it. It provides advertising and the theaters, correctly I might add, realize that any "boycott" will not only have any real impact on profits, it will, in fact, increase the money they make from this piece of crap.

No one could do a better job of discrediting Michael Moore than Michael Moore. The more exposure he gets the more people will know he's a fool.

I want to talk to the KC theaters (currently that is the only area of KS showing this, and only a couple up there anyway).

I remember when most here said nobody should say anything negative about the Passion until they saw it and made up their own minds. Different this time I guess.

Is The Passion about current politics? Did Mel Gibson promote it as a way to influence a Presidential election? Have any of Gibson's previous movies been shown to be outrageous fabrications intended to defame living persons? Did Gibson promote The Passion as an expose of lies our government is telling us? If the answer to those questions is no then where is the equivalence?
