Jsut saw a promo..to paraphrase..."his remarks at his Father's funeral have set off a controversy...." Is there ANYONE the media will not exploit to further their cause and bash Bush?
His inbox must be flooded with media invites since his funeral oratory.
Captain & Tennille
Saw this also, Ron is in major Bush Bashing mode.
He has used his Republican father's name to get TV jobs.
Since he hates Republicans why doesn't he change his name
and stand on his own two feet.
From a 2002 press release....
Basic-cable's Animal Planet channel sent out a single sheet that begins, "Ron Reagan joins Miss America 1993 Leanza Cornett and canine expert Lee Arnold to cover the AKC/Eukanuba American Dog Classic," which is later referred to as a "high-profile dog show." Animal Planet begins coverage Feb. 2.
Dog show commentator? Is this as far as the son of a two-term President has been able to climb in his life?
What a loser.
I think we are going to have a public battle between him and the good adopted son, Michael.
I'm worrying that it's not just Ron, but old hands from the Reagan admin are quietly attacking W. I saw a interview with Jim Brady & his wife. She talked about how one of President Reagan's great strengths was being able to change his mind. She went on to say that maybe this was something the current president could learn from - to read and change his mind. I was really shocked. Have things gotten so bad?
For the show I hope Ronnie-Boy is lookin' "pretty-in-pink."

That, Doug et al., will not happen.
Why does he need to go on Dateline? I thought he was homosexual.
That would be Sarah Brady - or "Push your husband around in a wheel chair and pimp for money".
She is a shameless piece of latrine offall.
I guess intelligence and integrity skip a generation. I tell you, what irritated me the most was the ear story. It just seemed a little too self absorbed to me, just the whole vibe of how he was telling it. Maybe he should go back to ballet if he wants the spotlight so much.
Everyone in the Reagan family, except for Michael, seem to try and distance themselves from any conservative or conservative cause for quite some time. I don't know what the problem is but I have been annoyed with everyone in that family except for Michael for a while.(Excluding the president himself, of course)
Giggle time to be sure!
Maureen was ok, but she's been dead three years now.
That's funny ... I've barely heard the media discuss it
Hint to Little Ronny ... your comment wasn't that big of a deal .. just proved how petty you are
Ronald Prescott Reagan (born May 20, 1958), usually known as Ron Reagan, is the son of the late President Ronald Reagan and Nancy Reagan.
Reagan grew up in Los Angeles and then Sacramento, while his father was Governor of California from 1967 to 1975. He attended Yale University but dropped out in 1976 after one semester. At this time his father was running for President against incumbent Gerald Ford, and Reagan disliked the attention he received at Yale. He joined the Joffrey Ballet in pursuit of what he said was a lifelong dream to become a ballet dancer.
Ronald Reagan apparently found it embarrassing that his son was a ballet dancer. Time magazine wrote in 1980: "It is widely known that Ron's parents have not managed to see a single ballet performance of their son, who is clearly very good, having been selected to the Joffrey second company, and is their son nonetheless. Ron talks of his parents with much affection. But these absences are strange and go back a ways."
Reagan now lives in Seattle with his wife, Doria, a psychologist who he married in 1980. He has worked in recent years as a magazine journalist, and has hosted talk shows on cable TV networks such as the Animal Planet network. Reagan serves on the board of the Creative Coalition, an organization founded in 1989 by a group including Susan Sarandon and Christopher Reeve to politically mobilize entertainers and artists, generally for liberal causes.
Reagan has always been a political liberal, although he has never considered a political career. He is also reported to be an atheist, although his speech at his father's funeral in June 2004 suggested that he believes in an afterlife. He is known to have dissented from some of his father's policies and actions, but his views have only become widely known in recent years, when he has become more outspoken in his hostility to President George W. Bush.
In an April 2003 interview, Reagan was scathingly critical of Bush. "The Bush people have no right to speak for my father, particularly because of the position he's in now," he said. "Yes, some of the current policies are an extension of the '80s. But the overall thrust of this administration is not my father's - these people are overly reaching, overly aggressive, overly secretive, and just plain corrupt. I don't trust these people."
He also strongly opposed the Bush administration's decision to invade Iraq. "Nine-11 gave the Bush people carte blanche to carry out their extreme agenda - and they didn't hesitate for a moment to use it," Reagan said. "By 9/12 Rumsfeld was saying, 'Let's hit Iraq.' They've used the war on terror to justify everything from tax cuts to Alaska oil drilling."
He has a sister Patti Davis, five and a half years his senior. His two half siblings, Maureen Reagan and Michael Reagan originated from his father's first marriage.
Ronald Prescott Reagan is not a junior. The Gipper had the good sense not to make that mistake.
Interviewed by Chris Matthews, no less. Tell me, has Hissy Pissy Chrissy ever been on Dateline before?
Michael needs to jump into this, and the sooner the better. He has chosen, apparently, not to begin his own political career. That's a shame, but at least he has an obligation to prevent Ron (and God knows who else among Reagan family and associates) from accomplishing an Orwellian rewriting of the Old Man's legacy.
Ron is an egotistical, liberal baby boomer. Former colleagues of Reagan's have another problem: They're part of the American social elite, and as such, do not like to be viewed as right-wingers. Therefore they'll tell themselves, and everyone else, that Reagan was a moderate, a compromiser, and so on. Perhaps they never even understood the man's essence. But in any case, we cannot let anyone's former proximity to Reagan give him/her a free pass. If they say something that distorts this great man, we must call them on it, clearly and repeatedly. As Reagan himself might say: "Bold colors here, not pale pastels."
Preserving clear memories of who Reagan was, and what he meant, is FAR more important than putting him on our currency or squeezing him onto Mount Rushmore. THIS is the true "Reagan Legacy Project." (Grover Norquist, call your office ...)
Watch and listen as he tip toes through the tulips...
I think Michael is the real son and Ron is adopted, or else Nancy had a night out. No way this Tutu wearing punk is Ronnie Reagans, he dosnt even look like Our President .
Maureen was more than okay, she was first rate.
Hearing Michael talk about her, and she seemed to be the forgotten one til he did, brought tears to my eyes. When he said the day would come when he, Maureen and his Father would once again be together it almost too much.
Michael needs to jump into this, and the sooner the better
He has, on his radio talk show this week
Could the motives of those liberals at Dateline be any more transparent?
It's enough to make a ballerina cry
Swan Flake should crawl back under his tutu.
I saw a bit piece on Brokaw this evening as I was leaving work. Ron Jr said that he was upset that Bush was wrapping himself around the Reagan name to help justify the war. He said this is Bush's war, and GW should leave his Dad's name out of the justification. (Or something similar.) I went, huh? Of course Brokaw could hardly contain himself. Brokaw continued that we would see more of the interview tomorrow on Today.
"In an April 2003 interview, Reagan was scathingly critical of Bush. "The Bush people have no right to speak for my father, particularly because of the position he's in now," he said. He's right to a point. Who better to know the father than the son?
Besides, who could measure up to Reagan? Certainly not Bush.
Pres. Bush is the son of a president. Ron Reagan is the son of a president. Is the theory busted? The fruit now falls far and away from the tree?
Perhaps unlike Pres. Bush 2, Ron needs a dna test to confirm he is the actual son of Pres. Reagan. Course to me, Pres. Reagan could have spit him. O yea, he looks that much like him.
I'll say this, I believe Pres. Reagans blood would boil considering the "compromises" republicans (republicans he made possible) have made to satisfy the thirst of democrats.
I might just have to agree with you.
Did anyone else notice that during all of the televised coverage of President Reagans funeral proceedings that Michael was always standing BEHIND Ron, Patti, and Nancy? He sat last after those three as well. He was not in this for the photo op, or for the glory, I felt that Ron and Patti (why is she a Davis? That's her mother's maiden name)were in this for selfish reasons. They didn't even really care about their father. My fellow FReeprs are right when you say that Michael is a class act, and should really look into pursuing a political career. He did mention that his father gave him the gift of eternal life, which means he received Jesus into his heart (aka: 'Born-again')so maybe Ron and Patti are jealous of Micheal and their Father's obviously close relationship!
How a conservative, God-fearing, morally conscious man could produce two of the most bitter, selfish, liberal tree-huggers is beyond me. Shame on Petty-Patti and Ronarina the Ballerina!
Scarborough is going to show a clip of the remarks Ron Reagan made on his show tonight.
Just what were his remarks? I was unable to catch that televised portion, I was working.
:)
What controversy was that?
I am pretty sure that Michael was adopted during the marriage to Jane Wyman.
Well...he also did the Crufts Dog Show in England recently, so there.
Those are more respectable credentials than MOST Bush-haters featured in primetime network hit pieces.
On his radio talk show, which is no doubt a fine show, but is listened only by people who already agree with him/us.
If you'd not on the Big Three networks, or in one of the really major papers, you haven't "jumped into it." Sorry.
Do you even have a clue what kind of "Republican" Ronald Reagan was? Taxes? Deficits? Compromises?
Scarborough is busy saying that Michael Moore's movie is "thought provoking."
"This is the west, sir. When the legend becomes fact, print the legend." -
Newspaper editor in The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
It's quite shocking how ill-informed some of the people around here are.
"Do you even have a clue what kind of "Republican" Ronald Reagan was? Taxes? Deficits? Compromises?"
All I recall is that I lost money during the Carter tenure, made money during the Reagan tenure, lost money during the Bush 1 tenure, made money during the Clinton tenure, initially lost money during the Bush 2 tenure but am seeing signs of hope.
And now you know. Yes I have clue.
Ron seems to have "issues." I'd like to know what specific quotes have been made or actions the President has taken that would be construed as using Reagan. Ron is clearly seeing something that is not there.
love...love will keep us together...think of me babe, whenever...some sweet talkin' girl comes along, singin' a song, don't mess around, you just gotta be strong and stop. CauseI really love ya, stop.. I've been thinkin of ya, look in my heart, and let love... keep us together. You. You belong to me now, ain't gonna set ya free now, when those girls start hanging around, talkin me down, hear with your heart, and you won't hear a sound just stop cause I really love you. Stop, I've been thinking of you, look in my heart and let love... keep us together, whatever..
young and beautiful, someday your looks will be gone, when the others turn you off, who'll be turnin you on? I will, I will, I will, I will be there to share forever, love will keep us together, said it before and I'll say it again....
I was born in the early 70's, and I LOVED that song! I'd write the lyrics to Muskrat love, but I get all teary eye'd when I hear that.. sniff, sniff
Oh, I almost forgot to make my point, wait, I didn't have one, but I am curious to know what you meant by your Captain and Tennile remark...
I heard that too. It's only thought provoking if you are a complete idiot!
Sorry to have to say it, but he's a horses ass.
But he seized the opportunity that his father's funeral offered him, his little moment in the sun, to slap down GW. He's smart enough to know that the media (who hated his father with a burning passion the day before his death) would be slobbering all over themselves with the thought of the potential damage that Jr. might inflict on Bush with his snide remarks.
Jr.s hasn't been successful in any ,of the many, careers that he has attempted. He still has to live off his fathers accomplishments.
I'll say this, I believe Pres. Reagans blood would boil considering the "compromises" republicans (republicans he made possible) have made to satisfy the thirst of democrats.
And rather than having anything to back that up, now you're telling us your opinion of people are presidents is based on how much money YOU make?
Your statement doesn't even match your last reply.
As I stated, you don't even know what kind of Republican Reagan was -- so you shouldn't judge others by your greed.
I guess he had something better to do.
