1:00 pm -- The Tancredo amendment to HR 4567 (Homeland Security) would have withheld funds from communities that encourage illegal immigration. It was rejected by a vote of Nays 259 and Yeas 148 -- 71 Republicans voted against the amendment. Two Democrats voted for it. One Independent vote for it. Click here to see how the Reps voted. Notice that Utah's RINO scumbag Chris Cannon voted with the Democrats.
In other news, American Patrol set up a page for anyone wishing to thank the U.S. Border Patrol for their renewed sweep operations. Many FReepers are down on them for past performance but don't consider that they, like every other type of federal employee, are beholden to the politicians and professional bureaucrats over them. In light of that fact the page has links to several controlling entities as well.
Tom expected this but won't give up. We shouldn't, either.
My [non-representing] representative, Harman (D), voted against it.
According to the page you linked us to, 68 Republicans voted against it, and 13 Republicans failed to vote. The one independent voted against it.
Yeah, but they probably voted for it before they voted against it--you know how it is.
Come election time, just remember to remind the voting public about the Anti-Americans that voted against it. Time to throw some Illegal loving creeps out of office.
I thought actually seeing how the vote came down might be nice, considering how so many of these people go back home posturing as border warriors for their home constituents.
None of them have the excuse of ignorance because Mr. Tancredo and his allies have been working on this openly for about a year now. Now that lines have been drawn and the mealy-mouths have been exposed our pro-sovereignty guys can focus their efforts far more efficiently post-election.
Mr. Amnesty, Rep. Jim Kolbe, must be afraid of how voters are going to treat him on this issue. For once, in a great LOOOOOOONNNNGGGGG time, he actually voted correctly on this issue. Graf must have him running scared right now.
Ummm, are we missing an important step here?? Should the Fed Gov be in the business of taxing us and handing out money all over the place in the first place? Micromanaging the result, no matter how noble the desired result, ignores the fact that most of the mechanism probably should not exist to begin with!
BONO, CALVERT, NUNES and THOMAS.
California conservatives need to work hard to remove these Republican opportunists from office at the next election cycle and badmouth them at every possible turn of events.
With Republicans like these, California doesn't need Schwarzenegger to kick around anymore.
Taxing us for the purposes of giving our earnings to other citizens and legal residents is like the whip of the slave master slashing open the flesh upon our backs. But for the government to steal even more of our earnings to give to illegal foreign invaders is akin to callously rubbing salt into our open, bleeding wounds. Furthermore, it nullifies the value of citizenship (or legal permanent residency) and significantly erodes our national sovereignty.
Charity is solely the purview of private organizations and individuals. So yes, we must eliminate the socialist welfare state (although I don't see that ever happening; read the quote below). But while some misguided people may try to argue society's obligation to care for our own needy, no amount of rhetoric can justify the distribution of tax dollars to citizens of foreign nations who have invaded our country illegally. We must fight this battle of borders and national sovereignty vigorously and immediately!
"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: "From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to selfishness; From selfishness to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage." -- Alexander Fraser Tytler (later Lord Alexander Fraser Woodhouslee), in "The Decline and Fall of the Athenian Republic," published 1776
Cannon is in trouble for very serious campaign fund violations. His aide was caught on Hispanic radio appealing to illegals for campaign cash..to be given thru trusted legal citizens.
House Votes Against America
It's up to us to vote against them. Vote them out of office. No more excuses. No more giving them a pass. Enough is enough. They are either for America or for Mexico. Time they decided and we acted on their decision.

I called Jane Harman's office and asked how she would vote. They said she would vote NO. I told them that I would vote NO to Ms. Harman's re-election next time. (never did vote for her anyway, but they didn't know that)
Very high - very deep.
This is the best Republicans offer here. Not so good, not so great.
