An overzealous verdict it seems. I don't get it but what are you going to do with a 12 yr old who kills someone? That's another thread altogether!

I was thinking the same thing. I opened this thread after 39 replies and was curious if anyone was going to catch that. I also kept waiting to see the Cosby reference but never did.

However, I must say that Chappelle is very funny. If you want to laugh you're ass off, go rent half-baked, a modern day Cheech and Chong type movie. If you are like me and grew up in the late seventies or early eighties, you will relate.

I bought it. I watched most of it. Only about 1 out of 5 skits were funny. The rest were just stupid potty-humor. I'll sell the double disc set to the first person that sends me postage in the mail.

What's really amazing is that people pay to see Chappelle because he speaks the truth. He just happens to have a sense of humor with it.

*** He's right about that. The only place I saw it mentioned was in FR!

Let's just make sure the blame goes where it belongs. On the MEDIA.

The same media we complain about all day long.

They pound away at their chosen stories incessently.

They ascribe their zeal to the public "interest", but it's really just about tabloid journalism and making money the lazy way.

I must admit that I like Chapelle, my little brother turned me onto him....best after the kiddies are asleep and mom/granny isn't spending the night.

he reminds me of early Pryor or maybe a little Redd Fox....very sharp...no doubt he is eccentric and mercurial.

That danged blind black klansman skit is about the most outrageous thing I have seen in years.....he must be wicked to have dreamt that up and the closing line is very very un-pc but I about fell off the sofa.

Now to be fair, he usually treats white folks like bumbling idiots at best and knuckledragger racists at worst but to his credit he is pretty evenhanded.

Those pimp/gs that travel thru time are damned funny too.

He's simply way way out there....not like Jonanthan Winters but out there like that....in his own universe.

Yep...and that closing line out of nowhere while so un-pc about killed me.

Chapelle is wicked.

The skit last week about interchanging Enron defendants with crack dealer defendants was funny.

When he tells the bewildered white guy to "nut up, we'll have you in a do-rag and converting to Islam before ya know it" as he goes into the joint.

lotsa peckerwoods in his audience too...just like in the salad days of Pryor, Cosby, Murphy and Foxx....hope he doesn't implode.

Elizabeth Smart was only 14 when abducted. She was bound, abused, and held in a hole for a lengthy period before beginning her wanderings with her abductors. By that time brainwashing or Stockholm syndrome had taken its toll and she was unable to take advantage of opportunites to escape. It was unfair to contrast her conduct unfavorably with that of the seven-year-old who fortunaely was able to escape in the first few hours of her abduction.

You're right. It's amazing that such a detail is usually ommitted from media reports. I mean, we're grateful to God either way, but it's nice that the black community might have one more hero, particularly a 7 year old who defeats two fiends. I praise her either way, but it's a positive message for many people. Obviously there are people who don't want to promote positive messages to that community. *cough* *liberal media* *cough*...

There are plenty of other things he can say, like when does single motherhood become fashionable when you're a rich white actress/singer.

It's single teenaged drop-out motherhood is also popular if you are a black American Idol.

I get XM Satellite and hear a lot of Chappelle's stuff. I will say that he's foul mouthed and often off base, but he is an equal-race basher. He was doing a routine the other day about how white Washington D.C. has become, and how integrated the gangs are---"You know if you see a gang of brothers with 2-3 white dudes that they are the most dangerous guys in the gang to get the respect of the brothers! Stay away from them! Also, the brothers have to have a couple of whites to talk to the po-lice when they come. 'OK, Ernie, you take this.'"

But he has a point---while I think it's MORE blacks than whites who are rude (I see it in malls and theaters all the time)---the rudeness and lack of manners is just ridiculous. There were two Asian guys in "The Passion of the Christ" who had a CELL PHONE CONVERSATION going on until everyone told them to shut the hell up!!

my personal all-time favorite was the race draft, and then there is always the Player Hater's Ball

Those were pretty funny, but he'll never top the infamous "Rick James" episode or his skit with Wayne Brady.

Read Bernie Goldberg's book, Bias. The media is racist and assiduously seeks out stories with white heroes/white victims/white villians to get higher ratings... he has some statistics which show that there are almost no blacks (as either the "hero" or the "villian") during sweeps week. For example, an interview with a black lady scientist, no different than the other fluff pieces you see and having nothing to do with race, was given the shaft simply because it was sweep weeks and white viewers wouldn't be able to identify with her!

Case in point: Jessica Lynch.

The liberal media are the BIGGEST racists of them all.

Chappelle said race relations are at such a low point in America that, "You can't say anything real when it comes to race. That's why Bill Cosby's in such trouble for saying black folks have got to take responsibility for their own lives. "I spoke at my high school last week," he said, "and I told them, 'You've got to focus. Stop blaming white people for your problems.' " He then added, sarcastically, " 'Learn to play basketball, tell jokes or sell crack. That's the only way I've seen people get out.'" ,

I think Chappelle was being ironic rather than being supportive of Cosby's statement. He is still implying that whites are keeping blacks down save for the three ways he mentioned to get out of the ghetto. Education is not one of them.
