Translation of this whole article: "Hello, my name is Tim Robbins and I am a racist who thinks blacks are superior to whites instead of equal." Funny that this putz can`t recall who made Dr. Kings birthday a National Holiday or how more Democ-rats opposed the civil rights act than Republicans. Maybe he can ask Senator Byrd or that southern democrat who thought it was funny to mockingly call himself "The first black President".
Who cares who wrote it, liberals are all the same racist punks. If I read one article like this, I read them all. Blacks are victims bla bla bla...OJ is a victim, Rodney King is a victim, blacks who have 10 kids with 10 different women are victims, it`s all the evil white mans fault, crack is the white mans invention to kill blacks, all cops want to kill blacks bla bla bla bla...Liberals all say the same thing, you could read it off like a checklist.
I don't agree with many of his stilted comments on Reagan, or even on many of his facts, but even if it was true it is hypocrtical to complain. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
Blacks are 12% of the population. When a writer is so bias, racist and stupid to make that his first"fact", there's no reason to read further.
simply put, much of white America needs Ronald Reagan [and Rush Limbaugh, George Will, National Review, Newt Gingrich, etc]; a father figure to tell them everything is going to be O.K.; a kindly old Wizard of Oz, to assure them that image and reality are one, even when the more cerebral parts of our beings tend towards an opposite conclusion . . . were looking for someone who would take their minds off such troubling concepts as racism
In this he is surely right. Most of modern consevative politics consists of feel-good cheerleading designed to reassure its largely white constituency that its easy lifestyle will not be threatened, even when the more cerebral parts of our beings tend towards an opposite conclusion, while doing nothing to antagonize the leftist cultural elite who really run the country, doing nothing to change the general drift of society. The system is genocidally racist against whites, it publicly destroys anyone who points that fact out, and the Reagans and Limbaughs know they'd better keep their mouths shut if they want to get on. The troubling concept the establishment right actually keeps their minds off of is their own dispossession, if not extermination, and what that will mean to the nation. But I guess conservative politicians and pundits will get no gratitude from Mr. Wise.
Wrong title: For this guy, the title should have been
"Why I hate Reagan". He totally ignores the fact that Civil Rights are a Federal issue, and the Civil Rights Act of 1964 [before RR was Governor of California] was passed by REPUBLICANS.
Yep, this guy is so full of hate he should be segregated, regardless if he is Black, White, Yellow, or Green.
Strange, I was with a fair number of blacks and a larger number of Hispanics in the line waiting to see Reagan at the Capitol.
Then again, I don't have an agenda like this simpleton does.
That sounds about right to me, at least where white folks are concerned.
While persons of color make up approximately 30 percent of the population of the United States..
Blacks are 12% of the population. When a writer is so bias, racist and stupid to make that his first"fact", there's no reason to read further.
White Uncle Toms like the author ape black racists in their rhetorical strategies. "Person of color" is of course a rewriting of "colored folks." And yet, somehow if a white man now says "colored folks," he's a "racist." However, the new wrinkle is that "persons of color" means variously blacks OR blacks and Hispanics OR blacks, Hispanics, and Asians, depending on the speaker's momentary political advantage.
Blacks aren't the only "people of color" in the author's opinion. I assume he's including all minorities, so 30% would be pretty accurate.
Tim Wise. I screwed up in the title.
