I remember her Sister, Ava Shook (sp?) ran a boarding house in Tulsla.
"My Secret Love" - gotta love it! :D From "Calamity Jane" w/Howard Keel - another GREAT singer (and damned good-looking, too).
Wow! No kidding? Oh, I love all those artists...those were the days when you could really call a singer "an Artist"!
I love that movie! I always have felt i grew up in the wrong era, I love the old classics so much more than the movies now. It is so hard to be a parent right now, because there is not many movies you feel comfortable letting your children watch.
Doris Day is nice and all that, however Bush NOT hunting will NOT bring in more votes. If anything those that do NOT hunt ought to be tolerant of those that do. The nonhunters need some education.
Doris is alittle to the left with this leftist advice.
My mom converted to Catholicism when she married my Dad. When He died, we noticed that she was no longer going to Mass. When asked about it, she replied, "I'm a Presbyterian again, just like Doris Day."
When I was a little kid in the 50s, I was in love with Doris Day.
The first movie I remember which really inspired me was with Ms. Day and our great hero Ronald Reagan.
The Winning Team was a great movie about Hall of Famer Grover Cleveland Alexander and a second chance at life.
I saw something with Jim Nabors about a year ago where it was said that he was not gay, just friends with Hudson. It ruined his career because of the inuendo, but he would not denounce his frienship with Hudson.
Ditto. Loved that era. I was born too late.
I think that was Rock Hudson. I remember because while watching I was thinking "Boy, you are going to get REALLY sick later in life."
I agree. That was a very funny movie.
"James Garner is Doris's husband. He is a hypocrondiac who thinks he is dying and he sets out to find another husband for her."
---That was "Send Me No Flowers" with RH, The one with James Garner was "Move Over Darling" --- this was the movie that Marilyn Monroe and Dean Martin were working on when Marilyn died -- then recast with Garner and Day
When I was young and would watch movies with Rock Hudson I would think what a hunk... It wasn't but a year later that it was reported that he had AIDS.. it was hard to watch him in a romantic movie after that.
PRECISELY!
Hey, I love all old things, just about. Usually before I was even born. I too was born too late. ;-)
I remember seeing that movie on TV years ago - probably in the '80s!
"loved the movies where she had all those great dresses modeled for her to pick out a wardrobe for herself."
--I loved that movie too. "That Touch Of Mink" with Cary Grant
(Yes, I'm a Doris Day fan lol)
Well at least I am an x-er, I couldn't imagine bein a teen during the clinton years. I was lucky enough to be a teen during Ronald Reagan's years as President. At least he brought some nostalgia back to the country. All clinton brought back was the hippie years.
BTTT
