Since we're in the spirit of light hearted ribbing and mentioning uniforms and uniform violations ...

I don't seem to remember an authorized uniform mode allowing:
shoes-black, pants-blue w/red stripe, tshirt-white

(see image 296.jpg in that same photo archive)

...but then considering the accessories they're wearing, I suppose we can cut these two Marines just a little slack.

... priceless.

I got no dog in this fight. I just know that the Old Guard Marines, Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Coast Guard men and women looked top shape during the funeral for President Reagan. I know the picture could be taken with all branches slouching at one time or another. This is just good jesting....

Audie Murphy was Army. They are both tough branches. They both fight hard ground combat. I know the Marines are considered the best and toughest, but the Army is right up there too.

The Differance between the Marine Corps and the US Army

The Marines still haven't mastered the proper way to roll up their sleeves.

Yes, it might be typical - the Army guy dressed for working, the Marine concerned with protocol (grin).

Knew a marine and his wife in Lawton OK. Strange people. The marine would salute a superior Army officer in the parking lot of their apartment complex when neither was in uniform.

The wife was a real piece of work as well, insisting on strict attention to her position and using "inferiors" at the hospital only for the scut work. She was pregnant at the time and wouldn't so much as take a sheet off a treatment table, as that was "aides' work," plus she might cause a miscarriage (her opinion).

I see a Marine sporting his dress uniform and carrying himself proudly. I see a soldier in fatigues that is crisply ironed and relaxing in accordance with the uniform he is sporting. On a street corner, or in battle, we all are green.

Semper Fi !!

My cover is off to the warrior in the field no matter what service. Everybody fights and everybody dies. Take a walk through Arlington Cemetary if you have any doubts.

However...being a retired Marine I can't pass up a chance to poke fun at the Army. (Smile)

ARMY - Aren't Really Marines Yet

Keep with the prayers, the vitamins and the training Doggies. You'll get there one day. (Evil Jarhead Grin)

Oh by the way...the person wearing utilities in that picture sure looks like a Corpman or a Seabee to me. What a sh*tbird! LoL!

Stupid, idiotic, and childish thread. I can't believe it wasn't pulled before it got started.

It reflects poorly on this forum.

Guessing that someone else has noticed, so I will not scroll on to find why this thread is so large, but the fellow on the right is Air Force, not Army.

U.S.M.C. - 0311/0811 - President Nixon - 1969-1971.

The Navy thinks MARINE stands for My A$$ Rides In Navy Equipment.
The AirForce thinks MARINE is talking about Maureen Ohara
The Army thinks...oh wait, that's an oxymoron.

To all in servicemen/women and veterans....HAND SALUTE !...and Thank You !

The Marines are where you put soldiers with low intelligence.

The Army is where you put soldiers with higher intelligence.

You give the simply-operated weapons to the Marines.

You give the complex weapons to the Army.

This Army vs. Marine Corp discussion is not helpful. I am a US Army vet from over 30 years ago, and both deserve equal respect.

I'm sure someone has pointed out to you by now that your opening picture has three Marines in it.

One dressed in his blues,

One dressed in Cammies,

and one PJ's one each NSN:57483-2112-4356-01537

thought you would get a kick out of this article...

being both, and most recently a Soldier, this befits the hands in the pockets Army and the rigid sharp as knives Marine Corps...

This is old. I remember this same idiotic picture being posted here a couple of years ago. I'm a Marine but I still think this is a lame thread. There are some (poop)birds in the USMC, believe me. On the other hand, my Uncle Jim (US Army) got Purple Hearts at Normandy AND in Korea.

The Army took some heavy hits under Carter and Clinton and the social engineers of previous Democrat congresses whose goal was (and remains) to destroy the military by feminizing it (at the Fort Dix artillery range we used to laugh at co-ed Army boot platoons jogging along with two or three ladies pulling up the rear at a hands-on-hips walk).

However, I have a feeling that today there are better people in charge who are trying to set things right.
