Blood is boiling to the point of scorching explosion in some quarters of South Korea toward terrorist [and by extension], Islam, as news settles in that a South Korean man had been beheaded this week by Islamic fundamental terrorists in Iraq.
Police cordons are being thrown up around Islamic mosques in S. Korea. The main mosque in Seoul has been flooded with death threats and bomb threats.
Last night (US time), a building housing Islamic interests in Inchon, South Korea (about a hour from Seoul) was hit by vandalism. People are really pissed at these murders and decapitations. Koreans, (the "Irish of East Asia" when it comes to anger and tempers) seem to have energized. The sentiment is by no means unanimous, though.
FYI , there is no hate crime legislation in South Korea.

Pretty tame. No molotovs, bricks, or beatings.
American muslims don't realize what a tolerant country they live in.
Any other country after 911 the mosques would have been burning.

Why are the S Koreans beating up on the Muslim community? I thought, listening to the protesters, that it was all Bush's fault.

Grafitti is to an "attack on interests" as sleep deprivation is to torture.

Some of them have had plenty of practice writing the same English words (probably) on the outside of the Eighth US Army garrison in Yongsan and other places around the ROK against the US. (sarcasm...but probably true).

Muslims in America should feel very lucky they aren't as targeted as they are in S. Korea.
Its just a matter of time when someone on our soil gets beheaded...THEN the uncomfortables begin for them.

Most do not realize that most Koreans speak English quite well and for the most part very well educated. Give a Korean a hundred dollars today and he will turn it into 2 hundred in a few days. Let them pick up the brass from our firing ranges and you can buy it back in the form of a brass pan next week. Very resourceful Koreans are.

This morning (in L.A.) I saw a video on CNN of this poor guy taken about three weeks ago. In it, he was calmly telling someone off camera how he (the victim) was opposed to the U.S. invasion of Iraq, and how bad the U.S. and Bush are, etc. CNN's reporting indicated that people in S. Korea are demanding to know if the government knew the victim had been kidnapped as much as three weeks prior to his murder, but did nothing about it. Any news in Tokyo about this aspect of the story?
BTW, I don't know if the guy was just trying to tell his captors what they wanted to hear, or if he really was yet another misguided anti-war Leftist trying to be friendly with the jihadists. Either way, no one deserves to be wantonly slaughtered.

Call it an "insurance policy". Those S. Korean soldiers don't want to get beheaded in Iraq, and if captured, they can quickly produce a copy of the Koran with some passages underlined to show their sprouting studiousness...to their captors. Maybe that's good for a reprieve or too, and they'll chop some other Coalition personnel's head off, instead.

English replaced French as the international language long ago. The Koreans likely don't speak or write Farsi, and the Muslims may know only enough Korean to get by in business. But the reach and use of English in even remote corners of the globe is amazing.

Since the Korean War (oops, Police Action, according to Truman) many Koreans have learned English and done so very well. They still like Americans for having kept their side of the border free from the commies. Some of my clients are Koreans and they all speak good English.
