Subject: Mary Jo Kopechne
Hello My name is Mary Jo Kopechne.
I would have been 65 years of age this year.
Read about me and my killer below.
When Sen. Ted Kennedy was merely just another Democrat bloating on Capitol Hill on behalf of liberal causes, it was perhaps excusable to ignore his deplorable past.
But now that he's become Sen. John Kerry's leading campaign attack dog, positioning himself as Washington's leading arbiter of truth and integrity, the days for such indulgence are now over.
It's time for the GOP to stand up and remind America why Sen. Kerry's chief spokesman had to abandon his own presidential bid in 1980 - time to say the words Mary Jo Kopechne out loud.
As is often the case, Republicans have deluded themselves into thinking that most Americans already know the story of how this "Conscience of the Democratic Party" left Miss Kopechne behind to die in the waters underneath the Edgartown Bridge in July 1969, after a night of drinking and partying with the young blonde campaign worker. But most Americans under 40 have never heard that story, or details of how Kennedy swam to safety, then tried to get his cousin Joe Garghan to say he was behind the wheel.
Those young voters don't know how Miss Kopechne, trapped inside Kennedy's Oldsmobile, gasped for air until she finally died, while the Democrats' leading Iraq war critic rushed back to his compound to formulate the best alibi he could think of.
Neither does Generation X know how Kennedy was thrown out of Harvard on his ear 15 years earlier -- for paying a fellow student to take his Spanish final. Or why the US Army denied him a commission because he cheated on tests.
As they listen to the Democrats' "Liberal Lion" accuse President Bush of "telling lie after lie after lie" to get America to go to war in Iraq, young voters don't know about that notorious 1991 Easter weekend in Palm Beach, when Uncle Teddy rounded up his nephews for a night on the town, an evening that ended with one of them credibly accused of rape.
It's time for Republicans to state unabashedly that they will no longer "go along with the gag" when it comes to Uncle Ted's rants about deception and moral turpitude inside the Bush White House. And if the Republicans don't, let's do it ourselves by passing this forgotten disgrace around the Internet to wake up memories of what a fraud and fake Teddy really is.
The Democratic Party, not to mention Sen. John Kerry, should be ashamed to have the national disgrace from Massachusetts as their spokesman. And the GOP needs to say so out loud. I remember all of this and I'm sure most of you do, too.

If she had lived (being abandoned alive in a submerged car driven by Sen Kennedy),
Mary Jo Kopechne would be 62 years old.
Through his tireless work as a legislator,
(Democrat) Edward Kennedy would have brought comfort to her in her old age.

amen and amen!
Everytime I see his fat ugly face, I think of Mary Jo Kopechne. I also think of the super rich Kennedys buying off lots of people so that he got a slap on the wrist. I don't understand how he has the moral authority to be in Congress or to shoot off his mouth on anything. I truly dislike this man. What can we all do to make sure the media covers the Mary Jo Kopechne story on the same day that he speaks at the Dem convention?
Teddy Bare has been drowning slowly in an alcoholic stupor in vain to forget his cowardise. May he rot.
I am so glad for this post. How true. How true.
Let alone the thought of what her "if possible" offspring could have contributed to us.
I keep thinking: Who's worse? Ted "The Swimmer"Kennedy, or the legions of MORONS that keep electing him?
This does NOT speak well for the irish catholics of massachussetts who have been re-electing the bloated swine Kennedy since 1962.
PING Big Guy
I guess this might get traction!
I've never forgotten you, Mary Jo. I was only 13 when you were murdered, but I remember it well, and always will.
Could y'all PING this to your lists, please. Thanks!
I'm sending this to all on my email list. Hopefully others will do the same!
He did not. Instead, he returned to his motel, spoke to an employee there, began making telephone calls to associates and went to sleep. All that time Mary Jo Kopechne remained in the car.
Possibly she could have been saved. The captain of the Edgartown, Massachusetts scuba team believes she may have stayed alive in an air pocket for several hours.
The next morning the car and the girls body were found. When Kennedy finally completed an accident report, he didnt even know her name, referring to her simply as Miss Mary ___.
There was a conflict on what time the accident had occurred. A sheriff said he had seen Kennedys car hours after Kennedy said the accident occurred. The senator said he based his estimate on the clock of the rented car he was driving. When it was determined the car didnt have a clock, Kennedy changed his story.
What a sad commentary on the voters of Massachusetts and the democrat party who've rewarded this despicable human a lifetime of political royalty...
Never Forget.
What amazes me is that Ready Teddy Kennedy, Bubba Clintoon, Kleagle Byrd, and Ketchup Kerry haven't served time in the penal system as inmates for their nefarious activities of murder, rape and treason. If these were pubbies vice demoncRATS, their a**es would be behind bars in no time. Instead, these bloody criminal creeps are occupying top lawmaking positions. And people wonder why We the People don't trust the govt (sarc).
Ted Kennedy: "I tried but I couldn`t save her"
Translation: I didn`t want to open the door.

- Inquest Exhibit # 14 -
- Sketch of Mary Jo Kopechne's position in the accident car prepared under the direction of scuba diver John Farrar.
- Farrar believed that the car initially contained a large pocket of trapped air, represented by the original water level.
I once had a bumper sticker which stated the above.
His own two brothers had no respect for him.
I keep the date in my calendar.
May Mary Jo rest in peace.

It was negligent homocide, not first degree murder. I'm not sure that what he did wasn't worse than first degree murder because the woman died due to Kennedy's cowardice; he obviously has been living with guilt ever since, which I have no sympathy for, and that guilt is exemplified in his own behavior with respect to alcohol.
He should have been convicted in Edgartown shortly after this incident; the Sheriff there tried to deal with him in the proper manner, but you know what they say about Kennedy wealth and influence.
And to this day the fat bastard hasn't even apologized to her family.
Amen!
I don't believe that, and never will. You have to have a conscience to feel guilt.
As far as trying to split hairs about whether or not it was intentional, in my eyes, it was murder.... pure and simple.
Amen.
Mary Jo Kopechne was a cousin of a friend of mine in high school.
Her nose was stuck in an air pocket. When she was autopsied (sp), she had a cup of water in her lungs. She didn't drown, she suffocated. She was in the back seat. Her hands curled like claws on the upper front seat of the car. It looked like she expected to be saved.
I wonder if he feels any guilt. Kennedys never seem to feel much guilt for anything they do, not the one who was raping the babysitter either.
PING - Please Forward
This should be read on the floor of the Senate.
She was found with her nose pointed into the rear seat foot well, where a rear seat passenger's heels would be located when sitting normally in the car, but in this situation, it was the last, highest reservoir of air in the car.
The car was inverted, tail end up.
Her fingers were curled over the lower front lip of the rear seat bottom. Thus, she was trying to hold herself, her nose, in that pocket of air.
At the minimum, she lived 40 minutes. At the maximum, possibly 5 hours.
Now, if we could only bring the sycophantic 'GEN X'ers, GEN Y'ers and GEN Z'ers' into the know about:
'HANOI" JOHN KERRY & HIS 'DISSERVICE' TO VETS AFTER NAM
'HANOI' JANE FONDA AND HER SUPPORT OF KERRY AND HIS VVAW ORG AND ANTI-AMERICAN SENTIMENT DURING (AND AFTER) VIET NAM
SEN. ROBERT "SHEETS" BYRD (D-W VA) AND HIS PREVIOUS AFFLIATION WITH THE KKK
...........anyone have others??
Ted Kennedy's cousin, Joe Gargan, is culpable in having left the scene of a crime.
I was only a few years old at the time so I don't remember the accident. Why didn't she go out the driver's side door when he opened it and got out? Did he purposefully trap her in the car?
What was it that Duke Cunningham said in Congress (about Ted Kennedy) that so upset the young Kennedy?
Ping to #41 for your thoughts.
She suffocated, right? Her nose was in an air pocket. I was told one thing, and you were told another or found out something different. It makes no difference, she suffocated and she could have been rescued.
Whether she lived 40 minutes or five hours, it was a horrible and unnecessary death and I hate those phony "noblesse oblige" bastard Kennedys for it.
Didn't her parents take money from the Kennedy's to keep their mouths shut? I'd read somewhere that he paid them off so they would not make it into a major issue.
Playing the victim card on behalf of the fat swimmer is wrong on so many levels. He didn't become an alcoholic because of his guilty conscience about causing Mary Jo's death. Most likely he's a sociopath and lacking a conscience. Alcoholism is not uncommon in sociopaths. If he were not already a drunken loser prior to the night he ran his car off the bridge, he wouldn't have been driving drunk and Mary Jo Kopechne would be alive today.
He did kill Miss Kopechne. Had she died of fatal injuries incurred during the accident, I might agree with negligent homicide. But, that's not what happened. This bloated gutless bag of slime deliberately and with intent left the scene knowing that Mary Jo Kopechne might well be alive in that car. His deliberate intention to evade the law were the direct cause of Miss Kopechne's death, not the accident itself.
I'm no lawyer, but I believe the facts merited a murder charge.
Several points, Ms. Kopechne:
1. You put yourself in a very dangerous situation, consorting with the Kennedys.
2. Your parents squelched any investigation of your death, probably for 30 pieces of silver.
3. It's sad, but we are not responsible. The responsibility is yours, Teddy's, your parents, and the corrupt DemocRAT government in Massachusetts.
Some people think that she was asleep in the back seat and Kennedy didn't even know she was there, meaning there was another girl in the front seat with him who escaped with him.
Well, we'll never know will we, because his people came out in full force to protect him and the judge handling the case (big Kenndey suck up) wouldn't even let the grand jury question certain aspects of the case from what I've read and been told many years ago.
The description is that of the SCUBA diver, Farrar, who found her.
Yes, she did suffocate, but probably was in shock before death.
Yes, she most definitely could have been rescued.
The statute of limitations, both Commonwealth of Massachusetts and federal (the homicide occured within the federal jurisdiction of the "navigable rivers and waterways of the continental United States"), that sets the time during which charges can be brought, have expired in the Commonwealth's case, but I am not sure about federal.
Unfortunately, without actual charges having been filed, it is a legal stretch to publicly charge Ted Kennedy as a murderer, as such things are viewed by politicians.
Ted Kennedy is re-elected in Massachusetts, because enough of the voting system in the Commonwealth, is run by the AFL-CIO which also "owns" Ted Kennedy.
O. J. Simpson was charged with murder, so another person can publicly decry him as a "murderer."
Ted Kennedy was not charged, so a person decrying Ted Kennedy, in public, as a "murderer," could be sued by him with some success ... maybe ... in Massachusetts ... if only some people in Massachusetts would do that ... because Ted Kennedy would have to prove in court that he did not murder Mary Jo.
His defense would have to be the truth; he would have to establish the truth.
Hmm ...
1. You put yourself in a very dangerous situation, consorting with the Kennedys.
I heard that she could have fallen asleep in the back of his car not knowing that Kennedy and a girl he picked up at the party would decide to take a ride. We'll never really know one way or another.
2. I also heard that the parents were paid off. Typical of the Kennedys back then -- pay the parents off and they will praise the Kennedy family no end. This happened in the late 60's, just several years after JFK's assasination when Irish Catholics still thought Kennedy's were Kings.)
3. The responsiblity lies with the judge, the jury that wasn't allowed to ask questions of Teddy boy, and the suck-up press.
