? ? ?
Maybe in this day and age passwords are still used.
"Could he be another AQ sympathyzer, like Berg and Johnsosn,"
What are you saying? Why are you saying these men were Al Queda sympathisers? You need to back that up a bit. Even with all the weirdness of Berg's Zelig-like qualities there has been nothing definative, nothing at all, that marks him as a terrorist sympathiser. And as for Johnson, well that is just ridiculous. What about the poor Korean man, is he a terrorist too? And how about Daniel Pearl?
They are not in the business of killing their friends, only they don't mind if they do it by accident, they are in the business of killing their enemies, that is: all Jews, all Christians, all Hindus, all Budhists, and all the rest of us, Atheists too.
With us, or with the terrorists, like W said. And if you are saying these men were with the terrorists, I think you should back that up.
Maybe Berg cooperated in a/his martyrdom opertion for propaganda purposes.
Johnson had recently converted to islam according to his muslim friend who pleaded with AQ not to kill him. Odd.
Just observations.
This Pakistani Marine abduction seems peculiar, that's all.
Does anybody else find it a little odd that of all the Marines they could have abducted, this particular Marine is Pakistani?
Pentagon says he's Lebanese.
"Their widows and other patriots might disagree."
I am also a US Patriot.
Just making observations with what little I get to go by.
Yes I find it odd.
No, but I find "a blindfolded, mustached man wearing a blindfold..." to be a redundant.
Remove the last a.
It's been reported that he is Lebanese. Maybe he's a Lebanese Christian.
I doubt he was with the snipers when they were killed. His uniform is too clean and pressed. The paperwork on the right side of the photo are licenses for vehicles. The large plastic one looks like something you would find on somebody at headquarters.
The large plastic one is the current military ID card.
There is something a bit odd about the whole thing. We'll just have to wait and see, I suppose.
Before I read your post, it occurred to me that:
A. This guy may have been an interpreter, an Iraqi national. [The black diamonds on the shoulders are probably for Velcro patch attachments]
B. If this captured guy had any dealings with Zarcawi, what a great way to shut him up (beheading) and terrorize other Iraqis.
C. It is common for the Corps to recruit foreign nationals. It is a good deal for both parties. The Foreign guy/gal can get citizenship in four years (Enlistment period) and the Corps has the ability to use them in their home country.
The large plastic one says "Geneva Conventions Identification Card".
How ironic. I wonder if the guy with the sword plans on following the Conventions.
I thought about that, but isn't Ali an islamic name?
Not odd at all...most likey a pre-meditated move.
Remember what we are dealing with here folks.
"You need to back that up a bit. Even with all the weirdness of Berg's Zelig-like qualities there has been nothing definative, nothing at all, that marks him as a terrorist sympathiser"
Why did Berg know Zak Moussoui and share an email address with him? You can find the articles here at FR. If I get the time, I will search for the links and post them. He also converted to islam. The fact that he had contact with Moussoui and was questioned by the FBI about it is enough for me to label him a sympathiser.
As in Muhammed Ali(i.e Cassius Clay before he coverted to islam).
but it is unclear whether the man has been taken hostage,
Look at the man in the picture. Does he appear to be upset? I don't think so. I am not saying he wasn't abducted but I must go along with the report which states it is unclear whether he was abducted. There are Muslim sympathizers even in the military and I wouldn't put it past one to offer himself up in martydom fashion.
I am more concerned about Matt Maupin who has been missing since April 9th. To me, finding and getting him released should be more of a priority.
