Thanks for the heads up.
Must be "future history..."
I saw this. The biggest difference between this and Iraq is the way they were treated by the Allies. In Germany they were shot on sight. No arrest, no trial, but shot right where they were caught.
Ive seen it before and found it to be rather informative and strangely familiar.
BTTT........ thanks
It's a good show. THC producers have shown a knack for picking highly relevent topics, drawing comparisons between today and yesterday.
Strange though, I haven't seen a show about WWII demonstrating a loathesome American running blatantly anti-American false propaganda overseas and abroad. Apparently there weren't a lot of Republicans during WWII pointing to the Werewolves as proof that FDR's wartime policy was deceitful and inept. Not too many news agencies in WWII reporting only American deaths rather than victories.
Thanks for the heads-up. Plan on catching it.
I saw a similar recomendation about the show in another group. The liberal response was this.
"I am somewhat familiar with WWII history. Go ahead and tell me how Germany and Iraq are similar."
To me that indicates a person who has every intention to remain ignorant and isn't about to let the facts screw up his or her opinion.
Anyone ever see the show on the History Channel about the dirty bomb attack the Japanese had set against SF, planned for August 17, 1945?
History Channel Website shows it a 8PM ET and PT. Meaning it's on at 8PM ET, 7PM CT and again at 11PM ET, 10PM CT and 8PM ET. Or at least my local provider shows most of the programs twice.
There is, however, the story of the Marine on Guadalcanal (originally published in Time during WWII). An abbreviated variant of this story was apparently adopted by Bob Hope.
The story goes something like this:
A Marine on Guadalcanal was getting increasingly frustrated because he was missing all the action. Whenever an attack would hit his unit's line, he would have been posted somewhere else. Finally he approached his sergeant and said -- "Sarge, it's killing me. I've been on this island for weeks and haven't killed a single Jap!"
"So, you'll get your chance."
"C'mon sarge, I've got to be the only guy on this island who hasn't killed a Jap. Can't you do something to help me?"
"Sure. I'll post you on watch tonight. Wait until you hear something rustle in the bushes, and then yell at the top of your voice 'To Hell with Hirohito.' You'll get your Jap."
The next morning the sergeant saw the Marine. "Well, did you get your Jap?"
"No, sarge."
"Well, did you do what I told you?"
"Yes, sarge."
"What the **** happened?"
"When I yelled out 'to Hell with Hirohito,' a Nip jumped up, waved his rifle, and yelled 'to Hell with Roosevelt'... and sarge, I couldn't shoot a fellow Republican."
I was in Austria occupation. Number of deaths 0.
Thanks for the heads-up. I found your post just as the program started. Very interesting.
I just saw the program on the history channel and they said that 40 American soldiers were killed by Nazi guerillas in the two years following the end of the war in Germany.
Thanks. No doubt they supplied the 40 names, units and locations of where this happened so that it could be verified. Or did they not?
Slightly touchy subject here but that was at least partly because the media was partly under government control. There was real censorship going on. Not like now days where "censorship" means disagreeing with the speaker but real honest, "we can and will take you off the air" censorship.
I thought it was about congressional democrats.
You're welcome. I heard Rush mention it this morning on his show.I'm looking forward to watching it.
