I'm 40 and would go tomorrow. I have two small children and would do anything to protect them and the millions like them across the nation. Hardship doesn't matter, age doesn't matter, pain and possible death doesn't matter. All that matters is ensuring the safety and freedom for my kids.
When I was 22 I had a choice of police work or military as that seemed to be where my skills lay. There didn't seem to be any wars on the horizon and crime was a fight you could fight every day. So, I chose police work. I thought of it as fighting evil another way.
If they wanted me I would go.

I would not volunteer as things stand today. Afghanistan was a legitimate target but we still haven't finished the job over there. Two and one half years now and OBL is still hiding out with Mullah Omar and company. Iraq was a costly mistake.
No, if the President asked for volunteers today I would not step forward.
So, I couldn't enlist...but I would like to contribute my sparce "free time" to doing volunteer work for the armed forces in harm's way.
Age 43, Ex USAF (7 years) will be joining the Army National Guard next month. If you are prior service then as long as you are capable of having 20 years service before turning 60 you can join the National Guard. For me that gives me till I turn 47.
Age 38, I'd do it if I knew I could be of help.
Damn straight I would enlist again.

I just request help in losing some weight and getting back into shape.
I'm a stay at home, homeschooling mom, raising the next generation. I don't belive that women belong on the front lines. My husband is too old, but he'd be willing to fly transport or help with pilot training. I'd be happy to do training, too. I don't think we'd enlist, but we'd be willing to be civilian contractors.

Did my part in the Cold War (Army, '82-'86), but if I had the chance...darn right I would!
