Hillary Clinton "We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good"

The leftiest big city on the Left Coast was Clinton country on Monday, with former President Clinton continuing his blockbuster book tour and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton headlining a Democratic fund-raiser where she vowed to defeat the Republicans' "extraordinarily ruthless machine."

Headlining an appearance with other Democratic women senators on behalf of Sen. Barbara Boxer, who is up for re-election this year, Hillary Clinton told several hundred supporters -- some of whom had ponied up as much as $10,000 to attend -- to expect to lose some of the tax cuts passed by President Bush if Democrats win the White House and control of Congress.

"Many of you are well enough off that ... the tax cuts may have helped you," Sen. Clinton said. "We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good."

"We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good." -Hillary Clinton.

This most definitely needs to be repeated at the GOP convention.

No, Bush hasn't used vetoes.

Yes, the Government has grown.

But, it is not that simple. First, the Congress is also controlled by Republicans (in particular, conservatives) and they were unable to stop their branches spending as well.

Also, there are trade offs to the gains Bush has made for us. It would be like judging a war by the casualty list alone. The game is give and take, and Bush has far and beyond outweighed the negatives.

Under Bush, quite bluntly, we got money back. Money went FROM the government TO our pockets. How often does that happen? It talks, something else walks.

Finally, not voting for Bush in November (and any vote NOT for Bush IS a vote for Kerry) would be like trading in a lackluster diamond ring for a punch to the mouth.

Over their dead bodies. Not mine.--

Speaking of bodies, Hillary ought to take a trip to Fort Marcy Park.

I call her a Castle Communist....... she's got hers (lives in a castle) and she wants all of yours. Communist!

No we didn't. Most people did get to keep a bit more of what they earned. The people who got money from the government are the same ones who always do, those in entitlement programs. The government's had to borrow the money to make up the difference. They were able to do it because the dollar was strong at the beginning of GWB's term and interest rates were kept low. As a result, we've also had to pay for it with higher gas prices and other commodity prices because of the weak dollar. The federal government will never take a pay cut. Once it's got the money it never gives it back.

Congress, especially Republicans do share some of the blame, but they were given the green light with GWB's "new tone in Washington."

Didn't the RATS insist on the air port screeners being added to the Federal payroll?

At least we were warned that they would raise taxes. Now Drudge is reporting Hillary may be Kerry's VP candidate. This should bring out the conservatives to the the ballot box. If Hillary does get on the ticket, Kerry better not hang around Ft. Marcy Park. If Hillary is the VP then I think Bush would change VP's and replace Chaney. Probably with Rudy. Fasten your seat belts. The next 4 months are going to be very interesting.

Oh, it will be. She's doomed herself to defeat with this, thankfully.

I actually know more of Hitlary's platform than I do sKerry's, though.
