Employee recalls sex talk between Peterson and woman at trade show

By Jason Dearen, STAFF WRITER

REDWOOD CITY -- A ribald conversation between Scott Peterson and a woman he had just met at a trade show was so inappropriate it made one of Peterson's employees uneasy, according to the employee's testimony Tuesday in Peterson's double-murder trial. "Scott and (the woman) had a conversation that I believe was somewhat inappropriate for a married man and an engaged woman. There were discussions about sexual positions and what she liked and what he liked," said Eric Olsen, a fertilizer salesman hired by Peterson. Olsen said the steamy conversation occurred at a trade show the two men were attending at the Disneyland Hotel in October 2002. Prosecutors wanted the jury to hear the conversation, because the woman involved was Shawn Sibley, who introduced Peterson to Amber Frey shortly thereafter. Olsen's testimony marked the beginning of the prosecution's groundwork for their star witness, Frey, whom they believe inspired Peterson to murder his pregnant wife. More than a month after the dinner conversation, Sibley called Olsen with a serious question. "She wanted to know if Scott was married. At that point, as an employee of Scott's, I didn't want to be plugged into the situation going on," Olsen said. Shawn stated she wanted to set up Scott with one of her friends. I told her she needed to talk to Scott about this," Olsen said, his eyes darting between prosecutor David Harris and Peterson, who ..........

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — At a fertilizer convention two months before his wife vanished, Scott Peterson led a female colleague to believe he was single and then grilled her about her preferred sexual positions, a former employee and another conventioneer testified Tuesday afternoon.

The men told jurors in Peterson's capital murder trial that his dinnertime discussion with Shawn Sibley, a businesswoman who went on to introduce him to his mistress, became so raunchy that they wolfed down their meals and fled.........

The judge in the capital murder trial of Scott Peterson paved another avenue to appeal yesterday by allowing a police officer to testify about an anonymous tip, a legal expert said.

``This alleged conversation between the defendant and an anonymous caller is clearly inadmissible as evidence,'' said J. Albert Johnson, a defense attorney and former prosecutor.

Johnson was referring to Judge Alfred A. Delucchi's decision to allow Detective Allen Brocchini to testify about a man who claimed that Peterson had told him nine years earlier that if he ever killed someone, he would dump the weighted-down corpse in the ocean and let the fish eat it. .......

On Wednesday, June 23, the judge in the Scott Peterson criminal trial removed one of the jurors, Justin Falconer, and called on an alternate to replace him. After Falconer was dismissed, the defense then moved for a mistrial, but its motion was denied.

In this column, I will argue that Falconer should not have been dismissed in the first place. Although Falconer slipped up in making what turned out to be an innocuous comment to a Peterson relative, the comment itself did not indicate bias on his part, and should have been forgivable under the circumstances. .......

2:14 p.m.: REDWOOD CITY -- Stanislaus County Deputy District Attorney Rick Distaso Tuesday morning showed the jury in Scott Peterson’s double-murder trial that it is easy to leave a mistaken impression.

He asked Modesto Police Detective Al Brocchini about a tip he received from one of Peterson’s college buddies, who said the defendant in 1995 described how he would dispose of a body.

“He said he would tie a bag around the neck with duct tape, put weights on the hands and throw it into the sea,” Brocchini said, recalling the phone conversation.........

Cop dismissed 1995 tip ahead of Peterson case

Cop dismissed 1995 tip ahead of Peterson case

The Associated Press

June 30, 2004

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- A college friend of Scott Peterson's claimed Peterson told him in 1995 that if he ever killed someone, he would dump the weighted-down corpse in the ocean, a detective testified yesterday.

"Scott said he would tie a bag around the neck with duct tape ... and drop the body with weights into the ocean," said Modesto Police Det. Allen Brocchini. "The fish activity would eat away at the neck and hands. The body would float up with no fingers and no teeth, so there would be no means of identification."

Brocchini said the man called police the day after Peterson was arrested on suspicion of murdering his pregnant wife, Laci. The detective conceded on cross-examination that he never followed up on the account because the man's timing was suspicious and his story couldn't be confirmed by anyone else.......SNIP IT

"I believe was somewhat inappropriate for a married man and an engaged woman"

I guess someone have finally decided what kind of talk IS appropriate between a married man and an engaged woman! BUT, I thought freedom of speech ruled..!..?

If they find that to be inappropriate, just hang out in any of the chat rooms and watch the married men and women talk smak..!!

SCOTT'S 'PERFECT MURDER' FANTASY

SCOTT'S 'PERFECT MURDER' FANTASY

By HOWARD BREUER

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

June 30, 2004 -- REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — Scott Peterson once detailed his perfect fantasy murder: Suffocate the victim with a bag and then weigh the body down before tossing it in the ocean, hoping fish would eat off its head and limbs, a cop yesterday testified he was told.

The headless body of Peterson's pregnant wife, Laci, was found washed up on a California shore — with most of her limbs missing — in April 2003, less than six months after her husband reported her missing from their Modesto home. The body of her fetus lay nearby.

A piece of duct tape also was found on Laci's body.

"Scott said he would tie a bag around the neck with duct tape . . . and drop the body with weights in the ocean," Modesto Detective Allen Brocchini said one of Peterson's college pals told him, based on a conversation the friend had with Peterson nine years earlier.

Barbara Boxer, who is up for re-election this year, Hillary Clinton told several hundred supporters -- some of whom had ponied up as much as $10,000 to attend -- to expect to lose some of the tax cuts passed by President Bush if Democrats win the White House and control of Congress.

"Many of you are well enough off that ... the tax cuts may have helped you," Sen. Clinton said. "We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good." "

My ignore list grows daily.

Now Broncchini is being criticized for not thoroughly investigating this tip of a 1995 conversation that could not be corroborated....

However the description of "how to do it" still lurks in the jurors minds...;)

Read it. Blah blah blah!

Who are "the G's"?

Miss Jae ignores one thing. In only ONE person that we know of do all three of the following come together: motive, means, and opportunity. That person is Scott Peterson.

Not Ron Grantski. What would be his motive? Where would be his opportunity? How often was HE alone with Laci? Probably almost never.

Not Amber Frey. Where's HER opportunity? She didn't even know who Laci was. Regardless of her alleged fitness, she couldn't have physically done all that was required to get Laci to the bottom of the Bay. No means.

Amazing..Broncchin's credibility destroyed and the case was "lost" last Thursday..Every talking head was dissing the prosecution....Not one on Greta mentioned the rehab of Broncchini Greta...It was all about a "gotcha" on the college friend tip, this time by the prosecution.

In the meantime some are saying this will be fodder for an appeal if Scott is convicted....sigh.

Geragos to witness:"Did you tell anyone about this conversation? No? Why should we believe you?...Why didn't you tell the tip line sooner?"...

The defense will make him out to be a nut and the jury has already heard that the detective didn't put much stock in it because of the timing and lack of corroboration.

Every bit of rumor and gossip broadcast, written and on the internet will be used as a way he could have made it up...Best to just let it sit there?

That's probably what the jury will be thinking as well. It plants a seed in the minds of people that this conversation might have occurred, which might be all the prosecution wanted to do anyway but without this person saying it himself who really knows?

Yeah, the prosecutors better keep their minds tuned to the "down to earth" side that most juries have.

I trust Brocchini's judgment that there was probably nothing in the guy's account of this "body disposal" discussion.

BUT, the jury does not always agree with the lawyers and witnesses as to what is significant, and THEY have the last word on what is significant! I can just see them coming back, after an adverse verdict, and saying, "We wish we could've gotten a chance to judge that college friend's tip for ourselves."

Maybe. But perhaps they could just call the guy in and quickly let the jury see and hear him. Jurors can't ask for what they want in these cases. And heaven help the lawyer who fails to give them the information they think they need!

It's exactly what I was thinking, many cases have been decided based on the testimony of someone's word against another and who the jury believes. Denying the jurors in this instance of hearing the college friend in person could ultimately backfire on the prosecution even though many at this point think it helped them.

The prosecution is clearly peeling away the layers of Scott Peterson and exposing his extremely low and bad character. This man has NO problem compartmentalizing his behaviour. He can act like whoever he is supposed to be at the moment. However, the core of this man is rotten. He is one evil piece of work and I dare say it appears to have been inherited and nurtured. Still is.

"A ribald conversation between Scott Peterson and a woman he had just met at a trade show was so inappropriate it made one of Peterson's employees uneasy,"

What more proof do you need that SP killed his wife - he talked sex with another woman!!! He has to be guilty - no innocent man would ever have a ribald conversation with a woman that was not his wife. Don't need a time of death, murder weapon.... the man is a cad - he's guilty.
