Saudi Arabia: Previously said it would allow the US to use its bases for a strike on Iraq - providing the action is endorsed by the UN. But in an early November, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal said that while his country would co-operate with any Security Council resolution on Iraq, it would not allow the US to use its facilities for any attack. He later pulled back from this, and suggested that his government had not decided whether or not to allow US troops to use bases in Saudi.
So yes, Bush 43 bucked SA on this one.
Also I remember that he appointed Daniel Pipes to some commission, and the Wahabbis complained.
I'm not sure of your point in posting at article from 2002 here.
The Saudis refused to either help, or even allow us to base out of their country - which is why we used Qatar - and Kuwait (a *grateful* country we've liberated) and .
Then they called out their dogs Wilson and Killgore, and probably a number of others they have hidden their ties with better.
It doesn't make as much news as the French knife in the back...but they opposed as just as thoroughly.
