Hubby builds trike conversion kits for motorcycles.
One whole separate page of the site and a good chunk of the home page is dedicated to the military.
We knew when we did it, that we would "alienate" the liberals.
We don't care.
We don't want their money and we sure don't want them coming here to pick up their completed kits.
We've never gotten a "bad" email about all the 'patriotic, military-loving stuff' *but* we've gotten many letters from vets and families of active duty soldiers that would break your heart.
They can't believe a business would have the nerve to put all that stuff on there, let alone make no absolutely apologies for it.
The people who count -love- it.
I've gotten letters from tough old warhorses that literally made me cry.
Each one of those letters more than makes up for the loss of a hundred "liberal" customers and every email reminds me that I am not worthy of those who gave me this great country.

But, that's just hubby and me.
Your mileage may vary.....:)

Where can I buy a life-size W?!?
Hubby would *love* that for the trike shop!

<< Or his trillion-dollar "free" pill scam, stealing our money to buy votes from Greedy Geezers? >>

Well said.

Mark Steyn has suggested that Mr Bush is "doing a passable impression of being Winston [Churchill] abroad [But is] Clement Attlee at home, taking America a little further down the slippery slope to socialised health care with a ghastly new universal prescription-drugs entitlement for seniors [That] boils down to a massive transfer of wealth from pimply teenage burger flippers to Brooke Astor and Gloria Vanderbilt!"

I found mine in a frame/print shop in our local mall. At the time it was called Gourmet Frames, but it has been bought out by what I believe to be a national chain - R & R Galleries. Sometimes I just ride around with him. LOL!

My wife runs a Kilt-making site online and there's no way we'd put this on our site. I'll get one for the main page of my website, however. :)

"Off subject - did you take that I-40 driving trip from CA to MN?"

We did. We're here in St. Paul, now, and have already bought a home here. We're in escrow, and will be in the house on the 30th of July.

The trip was relatively uneventful, but took six days. You just can't drive a 24' moving truck more than 8 hours a day without burning your brain out. It takes constant attention.

So, I'm no longer a Californian. I'm now a resident of the People's Republic of Minnesota.

Thanks for asking. That's why I've been off FR for a couple of weeks.

"I'll bet you don't announce to them that you're a "godless atheist" either.
It's hard enough to find an ad which snags customers,
why would any business display sidetracking things."

Really. No, religion is another thing that has no place in running a customer-based business. I've never seen that selling stuff to folks has anything to do with the religious beliefs of either buyer or seller.

You're right about the gun shop thing, though. I don't suppose it would hurt a gun shop to post a Bush poster. OTOH, I know liberals who are armed as well. One of my best hunting buddies is a staunch Democrat.

"Like you I do not want to lose business. Unlike you, I do know that most of my customers are Democrats and quite a few of them are overseas customers. I am sure most would be shocked to see the Bush-Cheney logos. I have to say, I feel a little guilty."

No need to feel guilty, IMO. I'm sure you show your support in other ways. You needn't hurt your business by alienating customers.

the quilla approach is MOST EXCELLENT! salamander's approach makes me proud (and yes, ashamed). your HONESTY is refreshing. your post has attracted replies from some of my favorite FReepers....folks who welcomed me here (quilla et al) and made me laugh so hard my sides hurt! (alouette)

in fact, i believe that's the answer to the conundrum; use humor!

tastefully and subtly done, it's "just the ticket"!

I also had a page of links to local and national military help sites on my company Web site. To me, that's a no brainer. If some confused anti-war kook is offended by that, I don't care where they take their business.

But ("Buttmonkey!" for you Laura Ingraham fans) this post was in reference to adding a free banner ad for a particular political candidate. It's nobody's business who I vote for, and I'm certain that would alienate about half of my existing and potential clients.

Personally, I've learn to love business dealings with liberals. Every cent I earn from them helps me feed my family, support my church, and grow the economy while defunding NARAL, PeTA, Greenpeace, etc.

Check out your local retail brick and mortar stores? See political signs in their windows?

Actually the leftist record store owners and bar owners and musicians ARE venting their political views everyday. They have signs up in their windows, free space given for protest fliers, stickers on plastered on the counters and equipment, and they will discuss such matters from the stage quite often.

I'm sure that there are FReepers who can also report personal incidents of being insulted at a bookstore for buying a book by a conservative author.

Nothing political on my sites. The country is split roughly 50/50, and it makes no sense to automatically offend half my customer base. Some of my auto-generated emails are signed with a closing greeting of God Bless the USA. And I don't care who that offends. (98% of my shipments are to the USA)

Well, I've had a commercial site on-line for over 6 years and have always avoided anything political. But now I've gone and done it and added a small Bush/Cheney button to the top left of every page. Hey, it is more of a hobby for me than an actual business... iPlayOutside.com

Okay, that didn't last to long... It isn't that my customers complained, my employees complained! And one clever worker changed the link on my Bush/Cheney ad to go to a F911 site. So, it's back to staying politically neutural for iPlayOutside.com

No. I'm interested in customers' money, not their political affiliations.

Michael Jordan was asked why he didn't campaign for Democrat candidates.

"Because Republicans buy tennis shoes, too."

"Have you taken a look at what's happened to Big Stupid Government's budget during his tenure? The Federal Deficit?

How about his happily signing off on CFR, aka The Assault on The First Amendment?

Or his trillion-dollar "free" pill scam, stealing our money to buy votes from Greedy Geezers?

And you support more of this? Want more examples of his enthusiasm for Big Stupid Republican Government?"

Bravo! I voted for a fiscal, limited-gov't conservative and got a cut-tax-&-spend fiscal liberal who's already outspent Clintax and LBJ.

Depends upon your product. Hunting video site - safe bet. Lingerie for transvestites - probably not ;)
