Not to mention that my Coastie brother was told by the Navy not to speak to the Chinese because we expect the Chinese to move on Tiawan in the next six months..... This could be the lead up to the next BIG war, and by BIG I mean WWII big.
Lets just hope we have the cajones to let the tridents do the work. We DO NOT want a ground pounders war with these guys. Not sure we have enough ammo........ especially when we gotta shoot em' with that wimpy .223 crap. Where's my .308!!!!!!
"The American Marine First Division has the highest combat effectiveness in the American armed forces. It seems not enough for our four divisions to surround and annihilate its two regiments. (You) should have one or two more divisions as a reserve force."
MAO ZEDONG's orders to Chinese General Song Shilun
Ouch! That is uncivilized!
Well the strangest thing is, my friend is going to north korea... i got another friend thats working M.I. (stationed in yongsan, seoul, korea) that said it was impossible, but he was just in osan, korea... he's going to North Korea via China... he's in the army stationed in okinawa(i think its mostly a marine/navy contingent there).... he was just in osan last week, and he left... he just left the message cause he said he could stop by seoul (where i'm at right now).... he was supposed to be there for a month, and he said he wasnt allowed to go into the countryside without the north koreans...
by the way, these are all second generation korean-american AMERICAN soldiers... i'm a korean-american myself, living in seoul for the moment...
and i didnt time to ask him, it was just like, hey guys i'm going to north korea, blahblahblah, i'll be down in seoul by aug. 3rd, or sumpthing... and well... perhaps there's a connect...

I think it's to show Taiwan the kind of protection we can give them so they will buy some old diesel subs from us. /sarcasm
I just got back from Taiwan (great people) but they had stories in the news on how the U.S. was charging too much for some old diesel subs, and didn't let the Taiwanese just pick and choose from a bunch of parts that they would bid on indiviually and put together back in Taiwan with their labor.
One cartoon showed the price of an American sub compared to the "world average" price. I told my Taiwanese client - well, then you guys should just buy some old run-down "world average" sub from the Russians and quit complaining. (My client smiled politely, and I was told by someone else later not to "talk politics".)
