I think you told us but would you remind me which institution of higher learning will be truly graced with Eric's presence and efforts this autumn?

THE BATTLEGROUND 2004 POLL
1,000 Registered "likely" voters
June 20-23, 2004

HEAD-TO-HEAD MATCH-UPS
GWB 43% Kerry 41% Nader 1%
GWB 48% Kerry 48%
[unchanged statistically from March]

JOB APPROVAL
51% approve 48% disapprove

APPROVE AS A PERSON
63% approve (46% strongly) 29% disapprove
[In the last 3 years of his presidency, Bill Clinton couldn't break 30% on this measure!!]

SUMMARY COMMENTS FROM ED GOEAS (Republican pollster):

The "Big Three" Predictors of the Presidential Race:

1.) Presidential Job Approval -- in modern presidential politics every incumbent president who had a job arrpoval rating of 50% or better at this point of the campaign went on to win reelection in November
31% approve Jimmy Carter
53% approve Ronald Reagan
38% approve Bush 41
52% approve Clinton
51% approve GWB
[NOTE: voters NOT holding an opinion on presidential job approval has dropped from 11% for Carter, to 10% for Reagan, to 7% for GHWBush, to 6% for Clinton, to 1% for GWB -- this explains the slightly higher disapproval ratings that GWB receives vs his predecessors!]

2.) Which presidential candidate "would do a better job keeping America prosperous"

The results of this measurement went from a 7-point deficit last March (Kerry 49% GWB 42%) to a 1-point lead for GWB (GWB 47% Kerry 46%) -- one of the largest shifts in the overall data! [Democrats have never taken the White House unless they had a lead of 7-points or better on this measurement!]

3.) Unaided Ballot

As opposed to the prior two measurements which appear to be favoring President Bush's reelection, this measurement has gotten slightly tighter over the last several months and appears to reflect not only the close division of the American electorate, but the higher than ususal intensity of voters in tis election.
GWB 43.1% Kerry 41.3% (March: GWB 42.9% KErry 39.4%)

WAR ON TERRORISM / WAR IN IRAQ

Who would do a better job "safeguarding America from a terrorist threat"?
GWB 55% Kerry 36% (+19)

Who would do a better job handling the war in Iraq?
GWB 51% Kerry 42% (+9)

CHARACTER

GWB 48% Kerry 44% represents my values (+4)
GWB 45% Kerry 42% honest and trustworthy (+3)
GWB 57% Kerry 34% says what he believes (+23)
GWB 54% Kerry 38% strong leader (+16)
GWB 41% Kerry 46% cares about people like you (-5) (traditionally, Democrats boast a double-digit lead relative to this question)

CONCLUSION (from Ed Goeas)
"Of the four scenarios for the November election -- Bush wins big, Kerry wins big, Bush wins by a narrow margin, Kerry wins by a narrow margin -- the one scenario that appears to be unlikely is Kerry wins big (it is hard to imagine this campaign finishing with bad news on both the economy and security issue matrix). While President Bush may not receive enough consistently good news on both the security and economic fronts to get traction with the voters before the Fall, given a draw on these two issues matrixes, voters may very well move to how they feel about the character of these two men in deciding how to cast their vote!!!!"

TYPICAL VOTING BEHAVIOR OF RESPONDENTS:

Democrat 50%
(Straight Democrat ticket, mostly Democrat, a few more Democrat than Republican)

Thank you very much for posting that at #55. Excerpt:

"In his stunning new book, Lt. Col. Patterson-not only a combat veteran, but a former White House military aide who carried the "nuclear football" for President Clinton-makes an overwhelming case that the once great Democratic Party cannot again be entrusted with the nation's defense and foreign policy."

I've been saying that for years but it sounds so much more convincting when a democrat, a military service refugee of the dem presidency years, says it.

Excerpt from link above:

"From the author of DERELICTION OF DUTY

New Book RECKLESS DISREGARD
From the Inside Flap

Is John Kerry qualified to be president?

No way, says Lieutenant Colonel Robert "Buzz" Patterson (USAF, Ret.), author of the huge New York Times bestseller Dereliction of Duty. And the rest of the Democrats aren't any better.

... makes an overwhelming case that the once great Democratic Party cannot again be entrusted with the nation's defense and foreign policy.

Coming from a military family of conservative Democrats, Lt. Col. Patterson learned the hard way that the Democratic Party of Jimmy Carter, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and John Kerry behaves with reckless disregard for American security and for the lives of America's soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines. ... LOVE YOUR RANT!

WE DOSERS/FREEPERS and all other Bush-Cheney supporters must make sure "the truth prevails" -- the media-entertainment-education cabal will do everything they can to obscure/distort the truth and they don't care who they destroy in the process (including our president, our military, and our country!)!!!

Thanks!

I firmly believe that John "F'n" Kerry will make Walter "Fritz" Mondale look like a fierce competitor, (in comparison), once the last ballot of the '04 election is cast

Most book review papers, ie NY Times, etc leave out
most conservative books or give them a slam.

THE CLAREMONT REVIEW OF BOOKS IS A QUARTERLY MAG.
A Journal of Political Thought and Statesmanship
A good Journal and can be obtained is some mag. stores
or check their web site. Good stuff you won't see
at the NY Times.

BTW, did you watch Hannity & Colmes tinight?

They had a Presidential historian on who said every 72 years we have a great President serve this Country. Washington in 1778, Lincoln in 1850, Roosevelt in 1932, and 72 years later it's 2004 :-)

CALL TO ACTION:

1.) Watch or at least buy tickets to BOTH "Spiderman 2" and "America's Heart & Soul" http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1164065/posts

We must make sure that "Spiderman 2" takes the TOP SPOT from F911. Additionally, it would be nice to push F911 to the number 3 spot BEHIND "American's Heart & Soul" -- a REAL documentary (and a pro-America documentary at that)!!!

2.) Visit your local book store and make sure that conservative books are displayed prominently!!

We should definitely find FRONT SHELF/FRONT DOOR spots for "Michael Moore Is A Big Fat Stupid White Man" , "Reckless Disregard", "MisUnderestimated", "Connections" and Linda Chavez's new book about unions (the title escapes me at the moment)!

It would be nice if we could get some conservative books in the Top Ten to replace all the Bush-bashing books!!!!!

Excellent rant and observations.

I, too, still have a very good feeling about this election. I still very calmly react to the rantings of the left with the realization that President Bush will win fairly easily in November. Sure, I get a little tense when I read news about Kerry raising record amounts of money, but then am reminded that there are millions of mental delinquents out there who would vote for "Not-Bush", even if it meant selling their souls in return. Everything points toward an easy victory for Bush. The biggest thing to me is Dr. Deb's poll results that show GWB 57% Kerry 34% says what he believes (+23). I think when it comes down to it, many people will be reminded of 9-11 and will remember GWB's stand against terrorism and will know that he really is the man for the job. I think they will vote that way, or stay home of they just can't stomach voting for a Republican. Sure there will be millions of votes for "Not-Bush," but always remember that Walter Mondale received millions of votes too.

I also believe the Democrats are shooting themselves in the foot (my football coach would say they are shooting something else) with all of the negative rants. I believe Michael Moore and the Dem leaderships' whoring of this "movie" is gonna backfire big-time. I believe that they are in a giddy fit of anti-Bushism and they can't even see what they are doing to their own party. They just don't get it. The only things they are staking their party on are things like killing babies, fairness to a ruthless dictator, and anti-Americanism. So sad to see such people jumping off a cliff in unison. (But I ain't gonna stop 'em-- might even give one or two a shove.)

Oh, you reminded me! I went to my local Border's to buy Bill Sammon's book Misunderestimated. At the front were piles of the Clinton book, along with about 10 Bush-bashing books. No Sammon.

I found Mr. Sammon's book in the back of the store, in the political science section, and there was only ONE copy.

I told the clerk that I didn't appreciate having to search for it like it was an Easter egg, while all those books that NO ONE wants to buy were up front. (In my area, Dan Burton country, I can safely say that.)

She at least had the good graces to look sheepish. Grrr.

F911 is being hammered by serious critics, even Cohen from the Washington Post has said it is radioactive and the Democrats should distance themselves from it.

Michael Moore is nothing more than a propagandist the likes we haven't seen since "Tokyo Rose", "Hanoi Hilda" and "Viet Cong Kerry"

The far left will continue to spend their money on this garbage, but before long garbage starts to stink real bad. Fahrenheit 9/11 is showing signs of Rigor mortis and soon the decomposition will commence and the stench will be all over the democrats as if they were sprayed by a Skunk
