A different take on a well-chewed subject. Freepers, and especially movie buffs, should enjoy this.

So far, Farenheit has earned 44 mill. What shocks me is that Shrek did better than the Passion of the Christ with 400 mill while Passion made domestically 380 mill. Whats up with that?

Terrific, Billybob!
I'm stealing this here fine article of yours and sending it directly to our local Art Nouveau Movie Theater.
The theater's owner got some terrific unpaid advertising for this film last week by getting a large section of the front page in our local fishwrap, uh, newspaper (a subsidiary of the New York Times, of course). Appearing in photo and print in an openly tortured, personally introspective and beard-wagging article, he publicly struggled with the "difficult" decision whether to run this "controversial" film, or not.
Despite my proffered advice and those of others, he has quite reluctantly, with a agonized conscience, but in deference to "popular opinion" (he also took a "poll) decided to air this propaganda piece historic movie for all to see (and pay for, naturally).
We shall see if he likes your humble opinion on Lumpy Riefenstahl's nasty paste-job more than mine.
I hope you don't mind, seein's how we're jest neighbors 'n almost kin!

An awful lot of children went to see Shrek II where as thousands of young people were not taken to see The Passion - Shrek is entertainment for all ages, Gibson's Passion is not, albeit, a marvelous history for a mature audience.

As Roger says in taking the assignment, The whole second act has to be rewritten. The Germans are losing the war? Thats too downbeat. Actually that line is: "That whole third act has got to go. They're losing the war. It's too depressing."

Thank you, John. I read this and almost cried. It is the most telling piece about that crap of propagandy I have read so far.

Roger deBris has different lines, depending on whether one is quoting the original movie starring Mostel and Wilder, or the modern musical, starring Lane and Broderick. The idea of his line is the same in both.

There is an additional aspect: the use of the video of this film for worldwide recruitment of terrorists. This is already occurring, with the necessary subtitles - in Arabic and other languages - substituted.
Deliberate distortions in this film, including the slandering of our men and women in the armed forces as being wanton killers, are as large and intense as in Nazi and Soviet propaganda films. This essentially is pure and intended instigation for attacking and murdering U.S. citizens abroad or at home.
Michael Moore intended it that way. He gloried over 9/11 (and later found it convenient to remove his sickening comments from his website.) He has never indicated anything except a hatred of the U.S. and everything it stands for. He is a psychopath and would-be Marxist, unable to escape his own puerile contradictions, having no love except for himself - even that based on thin ice.
There surely needs to be prominent, public point-by-point condemnation of the myriad distortions in this film. An examination by a Congressional committee would not be out of place. Repeat: this film is going to instigate attacks upon our nation, ourselves, our families. Its falsity must be made manifest. It is extremely disturbing that Senator Kerry and his party have not publicly moved to distance themselves from this film and to publicly denounce the distortions in it - distortions that will be assuredly viewed as reality when shown with Arabic subtitles.
Subsequently, counter to their professed ability to lead the nation, Senator Kerry and his backers seem in fact uncomplaining partners in a vicious propaganda attack against our nation, which is certainly going to be a part of at any time a full, terrorist attack.
