Kerry says he believes that life starts at conception

DYERSVILLE, Iowa — As Sen. John Kerry campaigned across Iowa yesterday with Gov. Tom Vilsack, widely reported to be on Kerry's vice-presidential short list, both men dodged repeated questions about whether their joint appearance might be a preview of the Democratic ticket.

But even as he tried to avoid making news, Kerry broke ground in an interview that ran in the Dubuque, Iowa, daily, the Telegraph Herald. A Catholic who supports abortion rights and has taken heat recently from some in the church hierarchy for his stance, Kerry told the paper: "I oppose abortion, personally. I don't like abortion. I believe life does begin at conception.

"I can't take my Catholic belief, my article of faith, and legislate it on a Protestant or a Jew or an atheist," he continued. "We have separation of church and state in the United States of America."

The comments came on the final day of a three-state Midwest swing, during which Kerry has repeatedly sought to dispel stereotypes that could play negatively among voters in the Midwest.

President Bush's campaign said these instances are further evidence of what it says is Kerry's propensity for misleading flip-flops.

"John Kerry's ridiculous claim to hold conservative values and his willingness to change his beliefs to fit his audience betrays a startling lack of conviction on important issues like abortion that will make it difficult for voters to give him their trust," said Steve Schmidt, a Bush campaign spokesman.

I am not a politician , I cannot separate my beliefs from myself to get elected to public office. That is what Kerry is doing ,He is running for public office by advocating murder just to get elected. Can anyone be any lower than this? By his own mouth he condemns himself just as he condemned his brothers in Viet Nam by his own mouth in front of Congress and the world . I must agree with his fellow Swift boat officers , this man is unfit to be President. Really unfit to be called a Human Being, He has no beliefs except getting elected.

How torn he must be. Every core belief is a flip=flop. He is trying to become leader of this nation, and he can't make a decision about any belief in his life??????

Kaptain Ketchup will have a difficult time explaining his position to the pro-choice crowd.

Just more evidence that John Kerry will say and do anything to achieve his political ambitions.

This guy puts Bill Clinton to shame.

No, they know he is lying and will give him a pass. Perhaps a light rebuke, then they will drop it.

This is the most absurd position I have ever heard. He is saying he believes something is wrong, but because his religion teaches that it is wrong, he cannot support a law saying it is wrong. I'm sure I am not smart enough to see the nuance in his position. I wonder what other principles he believes in, but cannot supportin legislation because the church agrees with him.

The point I was trying to make is: Kerry goes to one group and tells them what he thinks they want to hear. Then he goes to a group with an opposing view point and tells them the exact opposite.

With his repeatedly contradicting himself, the obvious interpretation is neither group can trust him.

"I can't take my Catholic belief, my article of faith, and legislate it on a Protestant or a Jew or an atheist," he continued. "We have separation of church and state in the United States of America."

This decoy argument raises a number of issues such as polygamy, blood transfusions for minors, stoning of adultresses, and even human sacrifice.

It does explain his lust for taxes, as he wouldn't want to legistlate "Thou shalt not steal" on an atheist.

Here's some further context to this latest flip-flop attempt to please the local crowd: Dyersville, Iowa, is a 99.9% Catholic community. Hopefully , they'll see through it. What a chameleon.

As a metter of fact, it begins before then. Every female born already has all the eggs in her she will ever have. While she is in the womb. So every person alive spent some time (at least their protoplasm) in their maternal grandmother's body, whether they ever even met her or not.

His willingness to change his beliefs to fit his audience is really sad and should open the eyes of the moron vote.

""I can't take my Catholic belief, my article of faith, and legislate it on a Protestant or a Jew or an atheist," he continued."

Believing that the infant exists at conception and voting for abortion because you think you can't legislate a belief for another is such cowardice, so hideous and simply worse than someone who believes that the infant is just a blob of amorphous tissue.

Pontius Pilate has a namesake in Kerry. Condemn the innocent to death because it is politically inexpedient to take a stand on what YOU believe to be RIGHT.

What a lying POS? If he honestly believes this, he would have voted against abortion on every vote.
