Mexican soldiers, left, in green argue with a group of U.S. Marines, two of whom were carrying non-working ceremonial rifles during the funeral of 22-year-old Juan Lopez in his hometown of San Luis de la Paz in central Mexico, Sunday, July 4, 2004. The U.S. Embassy on Tuesday, July 6, 2004 sent a diplomatic note to Mexico's government demanding to know why Mexican troops interrupted the funeral of a U.S. Marine who died in Iraq (news - web sites) and was being buried in his hometown in central Guanajuato state. Mexican soldiers with automatic weapons disrupted the graveside burial of Lance Cpl. Juan Lopez on Sunday, after taking issue with two non-working, ceremonial rifles carried by two Marines who traveled from the United States to take part in the funeral. (AP Photo/Jose Luis Magana)
(then unplug the phone before Fox calls)
Notice the poor guy in the mariachi band standing behind them, wondering why he'd ever accepted this gig. Ay-yay-yay-yay!
Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges.
Caption this. . I'll caption this. Hey, I bet we could kick the shyt out of these morons even with ceremonial rifles.
This pisses me off looking at that pic.
One can understand why the Mexicans would get a bit edgy about US Marines in Mexico with weapons. We do have a bit of history with them, and it has generally been to our advantage.
I would still bet my money on the Marines.....
"From the halls of Montezuma..."
That's almost funny!
"I..I....wouldn't mess....weeth...those gringoes, eef...I whur...joo....."
The Mexican military has a bad habit of getting lost on our side of the border as well.
The Mexicans soldiers in that photo are little poodles with an inferiority complex, bossing around those with more dignity ... because they can. Very "macho" of them. Little men.
FWIW, I lived in southern Mexico for about 9 months, and made some great friendships, so I'm not generalizing about *all* Mexicans.
I still say many have it wrong. The reason so many Mexicans are leaving Mexico is for reasons just like this. Mexico is a corrupt state. Someday the U.S. population of Mexican descent will turn the tables on Mexico and it will become the next U.S. State, actually maybe 31 additional States.
"We have overrun your border, we have Social Security benefits, have in-state tuition, and now we're taking your honor. Hand over the drivers licenses and amnesty now! Your government doesn't care!"
Drop the chalupa~
I'd be tempted to order a horizontal 21 gun salute.
It doesn't piss me off......it wouldn't have been a fair fight.....four Marines would have kicked the whole Mexican Armies ass..
"O, Dios mio, I hope the norteamericanos don't call in an airstrike..ay yai yai..."
...anyone ever notice what @ssholes anyone who gets a "power position"in Mexico turns into?Mexican Federal police,State Police, hell, the Ciudad de Mexico Sanitation Dept.....once they get ANY job with "apparatchnik"type benefits, they immediately start pushing around anyone they can...including other people they grew up with..
I have'nt traveled South of the border in a while, but MAN.I always hated any situation where you could not lower your Policia profile.Pretty bad when the MM or Nuestra Familia has a better record of keeping their word than the civil servants or military
If they can't tell a fight from a funeral, maybe it's time to refresh their memories...
"Badges?...badges?....we don't got no badges...we don't need no stinkin bandges!
Marine; "4 marines, 50 mexicali army, this is not fair, you need 6 more mexican divisions".
That's ok. I get edgy about Mexicans with weapons in the U.S.
If this is true, I wonder what they'd do if a Spanish Army ceremonial unit came to town.
We gave them the freakin' country back, I don't see why we should have to listen to their crybaby whining...for the last 156 years!
I think they either shut up, or we give them a reason to cry.
I noticed our Marine color guard appeared completely unflustered by the whole thing. The two with rifles are holding them properly, and although one of them may be whispering a Cheney-ism, they look professional.
now you know mexico had a march of 300,000 people protesting the actions of the military and the police. these people complained about how these groups allow crime to occur, because they (the police and military) are part of the crime.
We want everybody to like us, but it isn't happening. Go to plan B.
I wonder if ceremonial rifles have real bayonets?
Perhaps Mexico needs another kick to the nether region to remind them what is meant by "From the Halls of Montezuma".
From the Halls of Montezuma
To the shores of Tripoli
We fight our country's battles
In the air on land and sea.
First to fight for right and freedom
And to keep our honor clean;
We are proud to bear the title
Of United States Marines.
Second the motion, Plan "B" has been seconded, All in favor say Aye...
Once they get a job HERE in the U.S., they're officious a**h**es. Because they do so much shoplifting themselves and stealing from their employers HERE, they watch us for the same. I live in Mexifornia, by the way. . .
Once I wished Mr. President happy birthday today, I added in a link to this article and thread. Add this to the booing of the National Anthem at a soccer match in Mexico City, add to presidente fox's vocal opposition to the Coalition, mexico's friendliness with cuba, this DEMANDS a response.
Screw France. Right after that, Screw Mexico.
Those ungrateful suckers send all their unemployed to the States to make a living and then presume to tell us how to run our country.
If I were president, I would build a canal, 1,000 feet wide and 100 feet deep between The United States and that country to our south.
Not that I'm advocating your idea or anything, but wouldn't 20 feet deep (or less) do the job, too?
They'd steal your water.
They weren't weapons. They were props.
Hey gringo! Yo Quiero Taco Smell!
Click the link for a few laughs!:
"If I were president, I would build a canal, 1,000 feet wide and 100 feet deep between The United States and that country to our south."
...And fill it with piranhas!!!
They wanted to do a 21-gun salute for this kid who died a hero in Iraq. The mess-can govt said no. These ceremonial rifles were in the color guard. The mess-can army disrupted the funeral because of them.
And fill it with these
Half an hour after being taken out of the water this piranha was still very much alive!
I don't know about bayonets, but they have real rifle butts.
