I am thoroughly infatuated with that argument; it has to be the most amusing and illogical of them all. How much do a bunch of mininimum wage workers really contribute to Social Security? How much do the large number paid under the table contribute to Social Security?
That's why Congress wants to grant them amnesty. But the crafty Mexicans know better. They don't want amnesty. That means they have to pay taxes. No more Diesel pickup trucks with dual rear wheels; no more goodies. It's a two-step process, very much like gun registration. If Congress doesn't get them registered, it will have to take the rap for spending the Social Security "Trust Fund."
High price to pay. For this we must watch our country turn into a third world Mexico clone?
If our elected ones can't come up with a better plan than that, they should resign. It hasn't occurred to them that the sensible way to do this is to cut, cut, cut frivolous government programs that waste billions of our tax dollars, including foreign aid to corrupt regimes. Supporting illegal immigration in California alone costs us billions every year.
It's a sad day in American history when we are told that we must depend on a third world country to survive.
