HOUSE MEMBERS WILL DISCUSS REQUEST TO UNITED NATIONS TO MONITOR ELECTION

Rep. Johnson Spearheads Effort to Invite International Body

Washington, D.C. - The request by several Members of Congress to the United Nations to send observers to monitor the upcoming Presidential election has sparked interest around the globe. At this juncture a dozen House Members have signed the letter to U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan. Thursday morning those Members who have signed the U.N. letter will hold a news conference on Capitol Hill to discuss the ramifications of their request.

”We are hoping that our action will alleviate the nation from the suffering it took in 2000 when things went awry at the ballot box,” said Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, who is spearheading the effort. “We are hoping our action will restore confidence in the electoral process. We are hoping that every registered person gets to vote and that that vote is counted.”

Moreover, according to a status report by the U.S. Civil Rights Commission, “When the right to vote is infringed, whether by poor planning or intentional actions, the nation as a whole suffers.” The news conference is slated for Thursday, July 8, 2004 at 10:00 A.M, in the House Radio/TV Gallery (Room H3-21).

Make your voice heard on the Democrats' recent demand for U.N. oversight of the 2004 General Election. They don't often broadcast their feelings on democracy this blatantly, make sure that every Democrat feels forced to jump in to this fight on one side or the other. Every Democrat who is cornered into handing American democracy to the U.N. loses everyone but the base, and every Democrat who is cornered into denouncing the actions of his fellow Democrats loses organization support from part of their base. Not only is it evidence of disrespect for our democratic system, it's a lose-lose proposition for Democrats. Make sure it gets the airplay it deserves.

1. Tell two friends about this. Make sure they understand that the Democratic Party has endorsed the oversight of American elections by upstanding forces for democracy like China, Russia, and France. Tell those two friends to tell two other friends.

2. Write a short, calm note to your local newspaper. Briefly explaining in a sentence or two that a group of House Democrats have demanded U.N. oversight of our elections. State that this shows the Democrats' lack of faith in the American people and willingness to defer to undemocratic, anti-American nations such as China, Russia, and France. End with a request (not a demand) to the House Democrat leadership to state unequivocally that the Democrat Party does not mistrust the American people enough to make the U.N. the final arbiter of their sovereign democracy. Stay friendly and clam, keep in mind that your target audience will be turned off if you sound hyper-partisan or like you're part of the "black helicopter" crowd. Don't get too angry about the U.N., just ask Nancy Pelosi to state that her party does not support these members' efforts. Don't worry, she won't.

3. Attend the press conference on Thursday! If you live in Washington, show up. The staffers out front probably won't let you in, but stand out in front of the door in a suit and tie with a 8 1/2" X 11" sign five minutes before it begins that says something like, "What does the U.N. have to teach us about democracy?" Write a short talking point for yourself, memorize it, and present it to anyone who stops to talk with you, they are probably looking for a "con" blurb. I would keep it on the topic of why the Democrats have so little faith in an American democracy that has guaranteed fair representation for more than 200 years and why they feel the undemocratic dictatorships that make up a majority of the U.N. should be the final arbiters of the will of the American people. Stay calm, you don't want their blurb to mention a "raving U.N. conspiracy-theorist"! Just put the question out there in a valid form, watch the reporters eat it up and the blustery responses it's sure to draw when they raise it inside.

No matter what you do, do something to make sure that every Democrat is forced to address the uncomfortable choice of downplaying the beliefs of a fellow Democrat and looking like an anti-American moonbat.

I never thought I would see the day, but it really is happening...The Democratic Party has totally and completely lost it. Turn over our elections to the oversight of other countries? My God...

Who will be the first to bring treason charges?

Its time for the American government (through the Patriot Act?)to throw down on these internal enemies.

This is pathetic that its even being allowed.

"We are hoping that our action will alleviate the nation from the suffering it took in 2000 when things went awry at the ballot box,? said Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson, who is spearheading the effort.

So tell your candidate to accept his loss gracefully, rather than subject us all to the spectacle you claim you're trying to avoid. There, problem solved!

If the Republicans didn't have the balls to charge the entire Clinton administration with their explicit acts of treason don't expect them to act on this.

Correct me if I'm wrong (maybe someone can refresh my memory), but weren't all the people indicted for actual voter fraud in the 2000-2002 elections Democrats? I remember some indictments in St. Louis.

Three Words:

1.) Never
2.) Gonna
3.) Happen

Only the Democrats would request a bloated, amoral, anti-American, corrupt orgaization like the UN monitor our elections.

Ive sent off a letter to my republican representative. (I suggested pushing for media attention as well as his opposition)

A couple of good things here. First is the fact that the UN has already refused to attempt this because the law requires this to be requested by the executive branch of govt.

Second is the fact that this will get media attention. Media attention will bring scrutiny of a wildly corrupt UN. Media attention will also bring scrutiny of democrats who call for intervention from a wildly corrupt UN.

What is pathetic is that these numbnuts will be reelected in their gerrymandered districts.

"We are hoping that our action will alleviate the nation from the suffering it took in 2000 when things went awry at the ballot box"

This is the sentence that gets me. Is the writer talking about the confusion caused by the voting technique (chads etc) or is he claiming a suborned vote?

If the first, he needs to know that the results of the 2000 vote have been re-examined dozens of times, and the libs lost on every permutation of every recount.

If the second - prove it. The US isn't Zimbabwe. Unless I missed something in the papers at the time, nobody was denying food to Democratic voters, or threatening their families, or putting their leaders in jail on trumped-up charges.

That's fine. Make sure the handful of Democrats in non-gerrymandered districts are forced to address the "issue". Hold the rest of the party responsible for what the moonbats are up to, and expose the glaring lack of leadership on the minority side in the House. Force them to start throwing bombs around at each other or admit they substantially agree with this nonsense.

See above for ideas on how to do your part.
