A DAY IN THE LIFE PRESIDENT BUSH (PHOTOS): 7.7.05
yahoo.com, whitehouse.gov ^ | July 7 2004 | GretchenM

Posted on 07/07/2004 3:03:54 PM PDT by GretchenM

Senatorial blockage of his judicial nominees becoming judges and justices was the focus of President Bush's day. He also attended a fundraiser; both events were in the state recently evacuated by a certain United States Senator: North Carolina. He addressed the press and took reporters' questions at Raleigh Durham Airport.

He nominated former Westinghouse executive Francis J. Harvey to become Army secretary, to replace Thomas E. White.

In the War on Terror, he named nine more Guantanamo prisoners eligible to be tried by a U.S. military tribunal, citing a 'reason to believe' they were al Qaeda members or involved in terrorism against the United States.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: A minority of senators apparently don't want judges who strictly interpret and apply the law. Evidently, they want activist judges who will rewrite the law from the bench. I disagree. Legislation should come from the legislative branch, not from the judiciary.

Arriving in Raleigh

President George W. Bush arrives in Raleigh, North Carolina with Congressman Richard Burr on Wednesday July 7, 2004. The President was in North Carolina to meet with pending North Carolina judicial nominees.

Apparently when journo went off on how much charisma, etc. that Edwards has and asked how Cheney will stack up against him, the Prez simply responded: "He can be the president."

There were more pics of the opponents than of W at Yahoo today when entering the word "Bush" for news photos..

Addressing the press at Raleigh Durham re judicial appointments; Bush said Senate Democrats are obstructing the work of the federal judiciary by refusing to fill judgeships around the country, resulting in backlogs of unresolved cases that languish for years in the federal courts. Bush is spending his day meeting with several of his judicial nominees in North Carolina and Michigan.

THE PRESIDENT: Yes, speak up. I'm getting a little --

Q If I could try another Edwards question. He's being described today as charming, engaging, a nimble campaigner, a populist, and even sexy. How does he stack up against Dick Cheney?

THE PRESIDENT: Dick Cheney can be President.

Try: +"President Bush" -John -Kerry -Edwards -Democratic

Using the + and - signs helps filter stuff you want in or out.

Then there are the kerry comments:
"It's a thrill for me to have another guy with hair on the road."

"And I want you to know we think this is a dream ticket. We've got better vision. We've got better ideas. We've got real plans. We've got a better sense of what's happening to America. And we've got better hair. I'll tell you that goes a long way."

About the Kerry comments...

Amazing how Kerry, like Algore, feels the need to remind people of his masculinity, virility, etc...even dealing with hair. If one has to remind people then one isn't truly comfortable in themselves.

Dorks.

You are most warmly welcome, Gretchen. Another tip: putting more than one word in quotes tells the system you want that exact phrase or combination of words. As in "President Bush" or "German Wirehaired Pointer." Otherwise, the system will return everything with president and Bush, or everything with German, wirehaired and pointer.

I've been reading comments all day referring to Edwards being sexy. I agree that it has absolutely nothing at all to do with anything, but in all fairness lets face it. If the candidate is homely, we make fun of that, if he's good looking we make fun of that. A candidate is in a no win situation and I think the rhetoric makes us just as shallow as the Dems.

Anybody remember the name of the lady last Fall who was obsessing about Gebhardt becoming President and I bet her $25 or 50 donation to Free Republic that he wouldn't?

With the Kerry-Edwards ticket now, I think she should pony up and make that donation to the FReepathon!!

I've fiddled around with the plus, minus, quotes system and never gotten it right, so, believe me from the depths of my heart, I love having this information because it was a real pain in the behinder portions, indeed a sacrifice (I'm not kidding) to have to look at and sort through ALL those photos of kerry and his WINO and his cohorts and his potentials, yada yada yada, to find the photos of Bush.

Today was especially egregious due to Edwards being named and showing up EVERYWHERE to be photographed with his second choice for a democrat presidential candidate, with his chic-looking older daughter, with his young kids, etc. I don't get the way kerry and edwards keep standing almost kissy-face close, embracing, in their pics. Gag me.

Now we know the qualifier to be considered a true democrat presidential ticket contender.
