Thanks for the transcript post ... here is one point I noted:

From Rockefeller (D-WV) "John McLaughlin suggested a couple of them in his June 23rd speech for the security executive just recently; the idea of a five-or six-year appointed term so we remove this whole matter from politics."

But isn't that exactly what we had in George Tenet? GWB held him over in part to maintain the continuity and didn't let the fact that he was a Clinton appointee come into the picture. It didn't work, did it?

And following their premise, given the oversight failures on the part of the committee itself, shouldn't there also be a rotation of the members? Congress has been tinkering with the CIA going back to the Church commission. Every time the touch it, things get worse not better. How much CYA is there in this report? Will we get "improvements" like the dress code for the Air Marshals?

Why is everyone accepting this report as the gospel truth? What about all of the WMDs that were shipped to Syria et al. prior to the US invasion and all of the precursor components of bio and chem weapons found? This report is not worth the paper it's printed on. Why did the GOPers on this committee roll over and accept this cr@p? I don't even hear any dissent on Fox News.

Hey Mr. Rockefeller! Did this intellgence failure happen over night? It took years to rot away. Why blame Bush? Blame Clinton for neglecting our military and the CIA for eight years.

This report is looking at the intelligence prior to Sept 2002 when the President asked Congress for their approval. Remember how Congress demanded that President Bush come to them for a vote.

Also ---

Roberts may be a RINO (I don't know, but I have seen him chair a committee without taking nonsense from the Dem members) but I think that getting this report submitted as a unanimous one has defeated whatever political hay the dems thought they were going to get out of it. That's why the dems are already saying, "Yeah, but, we need to get Part II out to the public." They know that this one is useless.

Even the French thought that Saddam had WMD. One of their reasons for us not to go to war was that the danger to our troops would be too great!

A gold digger and ambulance chaser. That should tell everyone what sort of "Average American" they've got on their ticket.

The Senate Intelligence Commitee is selling camel chit to the sheeple.

The local media is flat out lying even about this report. They are stating that no WMD have been found. The truth is that WMD have been found and reported in some press. What has not been reported is a finding of active stockpiles or large amounts. To state that 'no WMD have been found' is just a flat out lie. The media is stating that Bush et. al. lied about WMD being present. While doing this the media is lying about the WMD munitions that have been found.

So we are in a war against terrorists who possess WMD ('we have this anthrax, you cannot stop us'), and the progressive media is trying to deny that terrorists and their sponsers possess WMD. What is going to happen after the next WMD attack against America ? What are these progressive media nitwits going to say ? What are these Senators going to say to the people who will lose loved ones ?

The object lessons of the targeted "house managers" of the Clinton era has them totally intimidated.

In other words, Hillary owns the Senate.

Both are strong for Bush. Bush will win.

How will not responding to these flat out lies by the media affect the 'War on Terrorism' in the long run ? How will Bush justify taking on the Mullahs in Iran when our entire intelligence community (and its data) has been nullified ? How will Israel justify to its own internal leftists that Syria now possesses WMD and action should be taken based on its intel ? We are talking potentially about thousands of lives if Iranian or Syrian WMD are allowed to be deployed.

Intelligence issues are clearly secondary to the public's concern regarding the insurgency in Iraq. Yet, we have an important role to play in the revealing the misleading -- if not flagrantly dishonest methods and motives -- of the senior administration officials who made the case for a unilateral, preemptive war

What ? 'The American peoples desire to find out how accurate our intelligence services are regarding terrorists possessing WMD is secondary to the American peoples concern about the insurgency in Iraq ?' These guys are not even in touch with reality. The American people want to know who attacked the US with a WMD component (Anthrax) and they want to know what the heck the US Senate is going to do about it ? What was meant by the following text written by the antrax terrorists 'We have this Anthrax. You cannot stop us ?'. We should assume that these terrorists still have the anthrax. Why are you not spending more resources and launching further investigations into why we have not found these terrorists possessing WMD in our own country ? How do you plan to stop the next WMD attack on America ? The Iraq War is over and is history. We won. Primarily now the Iraqi's themselves have to worry about the 'insurgency'.

reguarding your #12, it appears to me that the dems stuck right to the plans that were in their memos that were leaked months ago. They didn't even skip a beat, they kept on track and the Republicans helped them.

Clinton appointee George Tenet fired. Problem solved. Move on

It needs to be repeated over, and over.
