You really have to wonder what is up at the NYSlimes.

If you look at the article referenced above, you see we are statistically way overdue for a pole reversal. I put this in the same category as 'hey the sun heats up the earth' news flash.
Good thing we have GPS, but can we miniaturize it in time to save the birds and animals.

All Boy Scouts will need new compasses. You just have to set a very large magnetic declination.

Personally I think it is Al Gore's fault. After all he invented the earths magnetic field, didn't he?????
To: putupjob
One man from a state called Tennessee, the USA, was born to save us. His name is Al Gore.

Will my toilet flush counter clockwise?
To: mabelkitty
From what I understand the direction of water in a flushing toilet bowl is due to the rotation of the earth on its axis so that will not change when the earth flips its magnetic field.

If I remember right, the coriolis effect does have something to do with the magnetic field of the planet, along with the rotation.
I could be wrong, though. There's a first time for everything. 8o)

Does that mean that NATO will be renamed SATO?

Abu Ghraib must have run out of steam...

This is based on very sound science. There is no public policy implications since we cannot do anything about it except perhaps come up with ways to protect sensitive equipment and infrastructure, ala Y2K. No change in human behavior will alter the earth's magnetic field.

Oh my God! This means that the water in the sink will now rotate counter clockwise when you pull the stopper! Does this mean that Al Gore will be recommending that you replace all your sinks with clockwise models?

Which way WOULD be North?Don't you be talking about my friend Ollie like that! He's straight!

No!
Ask any Democrat, it would be the "new North".
Cultural evidence suggests the shift is further along than 10% - 15%.
Wrong is right & right is wrong.
